Brake Settings - Other People's Tunes

I’ve found my brake settings differ quite a lot to what other people use, I normally set my own tunes around 50-52 balance and 68-70 pressure, otherwise I find I’m locking up all over the track.

I’m not a fantastic tuner, I don’t have the time and sometimes I can get so into perfecting a tune for myself that I’m actually missing out on playing the game or racing online.

So I download other people’s tunes of cars I love to drive to use online etc, the problem I’m finding is they must have brake settings much higher than what I use and I’m locking up, these are leaderboard tunes also, so proven. Is there anything I can adjust in game settings to tone down the brake button or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Mark

You can try adjusting your deadzones in the controller settings; if you set your Brake to 0 and 100 you’ll have more control over how much pressure you can apply.

Personally I’ve found it easier to lock up in this game than in Forza Motorsport 4. Back then I would use 200% on almost every car whereas with the ones I’ve tuned so far in Forza Motorsport 6 I’m sitting at around 95-100%.

Ok thanks. On the deadzone settings what would brake come under? Deceleration?

Currently set at inside 15 and outside 95

i can’t seem to fix this, any tune that I can’t adjust braking on just locks up at every corner.

Under Options | Controller/Wheel | Advanced, you are looking for the deceleration axis deadzones. For it to matter, the brake control need to be mapped to an analog input like a trigger or stick. Left trigger is default, which is what I assume you are using.

Most tunes I see are maybe 90 to 120 brake pressure at the low end, but there are a lot that still prefer very high pressure. With your zone at 15 in / 95 out and given your preferred brake pressure, I doubt you will dial it out by adjusting the zone more. You might not consider it a good option, but if you don’t mind and haven’t tried already you could turn-on the ABS assist when using other tunes.

Thanks for the reply, yea I don’t think I’m going to totally solve it unless I stick to my own tunes, which takes up a bit more time. ABS solves the problem to an extent so I may have to turn it on when using certain tunes.

Thanks for the replies both of you.

Sometimes the locking up can also be track-specific. While tuning a car last night I noticed I’d easily lock up into Turn 1 of Catalunya National, but full pressure produced no locking at Road Atlanta’s final chicane.

Have you tried the many open source tunes? Here are mine, feel free to tweak anything you want.

Thanks! I shall take a look! :+1:
