Bouncing cars?

Can someone please explain why the issue of bouncing cars in online racing is still an issue and what cause that cars flying and bouncing around

Your connection might be laggy.

Ping and Lag.

Since it’s over the internet, it takes time to send data. Even with the best connections it takes some time because the data between consoles has to travel a certain distance and back. Not everyone has a great internet connection, and not everyone you play with lives near you. Either of those or a combination of the two may cause cars to bounce, fly, or zigzag back and forth.

Darn i pay for blast i suppose to get 105 mps so when i see it its my internet thats causing the bouncing cars?

Yes and no. You pay for 105 mbps download not upload.

Your download speed is how quickly you can take data from other players.
Your upload speed is how quickly you can feed other players your data.

Then, you must also consider how far away the two players are, how many transfers, and how many connections that data must go through between them. Here’s an overly simplified explanation.

Comcast (which I will politely refrain from saying anything more about) has their internet set up a certain way and it is different than AT&T U-Verse for example. The way the connections work plays a role in this as well.

Let’s say you are playing with me. We’re both on the West Coast, we both have good up- and down- load speeds, and no one else is in the lobby. Gameplay will be smooth and you won’t notice this effect.
Now, let’s say someone from Australia joins us and they also have good internet. The game will continue to play smoothly. If this person does not have a good upload speed, then on our end the cars will be laggy and bouncy and it will look strange. If they have a slower download speed that cannot keep up with the upload requirements of the game/console - then this will happen to them.

Also to note, I don’t know why but I always have gaming issues when I play with people from Hawaii. Doesn’t matter the game, it usually results in lag of some sort.

No, it’s not necessarily your connection speed. But if one of the other drivers has a slower connection speed then there could be a delay while all the driver’s positions are updated. It’s called “lag” where other drivers look like they’re all over the place.

Edit: Sorry PPi you beat me to it. I’ll have to type faster.

Easy way to tell, if one or two players are bouncing, it’s them lagging. If everyone is bouncing, it’s you lagging.

Lag as others have said.

Frustrating yes. Just close your eyes and imagine Pole Position as a stand up machine in an arcade somewhere. When you open your eyes again “lag” won’t seem like such a big deal considering where we came from LOL

All of a sudden ill get hit oit of no where and go flying into a wall and have have no clue where the car came from and its hard not trying not too hit the person bouncing

Seen many bouncing cars, like whats been said its a internet problem
