Best Wheel Settings I've Found

Most people seem to agree that Assetto Corsa feels much better/ more realistic on a wheel than Forza, and there also seems to be quite a bit of confusion about simulation steering in Forza 7. Well I believe I’ve finally found a pretty good antidote for both these issues. I use a Fanatec CSL Elite wheel, so first the settings, then I’ll explain what I believe I’ve learned.

UPDATED 05/04/2020***********

SIMULATION STEERING
My dead zones are all 0 or 100 except decel-in, is 5
Vibration - 40
FFB -100
Aligning Torque - 150 (this is the setting to adjust if you’d like stronger or weaker force)
Mechanical Trail - 100
Pneumatic Trail - 120
Road Feel - 80
Load Sensitivity - 100
Dynamic Damper - 50 (this setting modifies how weak the steering gets when losing grip from oversteer or understeer. This needs to be lowered in order to maintain detail in the feedback when going into oversteer conditions.)
Wheel Damper - 100
Center Spring Scale - 20
Wheel Rotation Angle - 420
Steering Linearity - 28

I was struggling with this for a long time, and it just clicked after driving AC and Forza back to back. It may not be perfect yet, but it’s significantly better than anything else I’ve tried up to this point.

Sim steering by default is going to be more difficult to drive and less forgiving, but as the name entails, it’s much more accurate. Normal steering seems to dampen or soften steering input, especially toward 0 degrees of steering angle. This is why it’s significantly easier to catch slides on normal steering and 50 steering linearity.

The reason it’s so difficult to drive with sim steering and 50 steering linearity is because it’s too twitchy and the wheel movements are not being softened by normal steering anymore. Every movement you make close to center is “amplified” with sim steering, relative to normal steering, and you are constantly over-correcting and not letting the car settle. To fix this, like in a real car, we want to have less responsiveness toward center and higher fidelity and purpose when turning. Everything becomes easier and more intuitive with these settings. I instantly went from struggling in Forza GT Endurance multiplayer, to having very consistent and enjoyable races with my only offs being caused by over driving.

This are your in game setting? Also imported to know are your base settings. Because they come together, right?! Would be nice to have them as well. Thanks

My wheel base settings are all default, I’ve toyed around with the wheel base settings, and I much prefer to modify settings in game because it introduces far less variables.

On another note, I modified a few of the settings slightly in the original post. As I get it more dialed in I find more areas I can improve. My times and online races have also become much more consistent due to these settings.

Thanks for the comprehensive settings. I’m guessing that you have wheel rotation set so low because you are mostly racing in racing-class (S1+) or super/hyper cars? Or is that required when you take Steering Linearity down to 37? My guess is with rotation lower you’re getting very tight steering and feeling more effects at center, and then linearity at 37 means when you feel the effects like tires rumbling or going light, the 37 linearity means your corrections aren’t over-compensating, meaning you’re catching those spins before they get out of control…?

Basically, yes. Linearity is pretty much dictated by steering angle. The lower the angle, the lower the linearity. Linearity effects ONLY how sensitive the steering angle is near center and subsequently when turning, the lower the linearity, the less “twitchy” near center, but the more accurate when turning. I mostly drive gt3 endurance, but I find that these settings are still nice to use on slow cars as well.

Edit: I made an error on the steering linearity. My linearity is set to 27, not 37.

Yesterday was my first day on FM7 (I came from FH4 which I have to admite that the wheel doesn’t work properly there) and I used for my first race your settings.

I worked like a charm I could drive without any spin. I really really enjoyed it.

I am playing with a G29 with Logitech Shifter. Well I had to made a change on my wheel software settings that was changed the Wheel Rotation Angle because I couldn’t on the game. I just changed to the value that you mentioned 420º and it worked properly.

Thank you for your settings and I will wait for new updates and inputs from your side
