I know what you mean. I don’t think there is a good way. IIRC in FH4 the chain would bank when I entered a house or festival without waiting. I think it does in 5 but I only looked at it briefly. That’s the only thing that comes to mind.
Have you tried dunes on the west side of the map? I do not have RS200 yet, but with Puma FE is was pretty fun and relatively fast way to farm skillpoints…
Not exactly free roam, but I do drift arcades in a drift car in the hopes that one day I might complete an arcade. Still, I’ve racked up loads of points doing the fail-cade.
ive found the best place to rack up points fast with wrecking, Smacktus along with drifting and e-drift skills with no rocks is the end of the runway at the Mexico Festival where the plane with the ramp against it is. Do a little jump into the desert area just beyond the ramp (most will lauch off that ramp but you are not looking for any distance here) and there are loads and loads of cacti and fences etc and zero rocks, unless you stray way further out! good thing is they respawn all the time so its endless. Ive got 1mil skill chain without really trying just have to be prpared to grind a little, drifting, wrecking and side swiping cacti etc but no risk of rocks.
Hoonicorn V2 goes to 8. Zonda FE. Siesto Element FE. I’m using the Hoonie RS200 cos it’s so fun to drive. Also the ‘vettes. Nothing as good as BMW M6 FE in FH4 tho’ but it’s early days.
I’ve been using the black Formula Drift BMW, going to the circle close the hotel (SW corner) and just drifting around and hitting trees and stuff. Racked up over a million pretty quickly.
Yeah the drift cars are the way to go farming skill points. The Hoonigan of course but my favourite atm is the Viper drift car. I do the drift arcade as i get the benefit of Forza Points and Skill Points in the event so i build up pretty quick. I then use skill points on the Pontiac (buying several of course) and unlock the Superwheel spins. Great way to get exclusives and build up credits (apart from 50 lap races and buy low/sell high auctions). Because i build up a heap of Forza Points i also buy any exclusive i don’t have in the shop which is a bonus too.
My new favourite spot is the dunes/beach on the east coast, preferably a bit on the north side.
There are tons of trees and other destructables, small dunes that make you jump and you drift through the whole thing. There is a clear tree ridge where the big (skill killing) trees are that is easily avoidable and you need to steer clear of the houses. Otherwise a perfect area.
As far as cars go
When I have time and no skill song the Hoonigan RS200 is really good. The problem though is that the multiplier goes really slow so you need time.
Otherwise I use the HOONIGAN GYMKHANA 10 FORD ESCORT COSWORTH GROUP A (sorry copy/pasted, so caps). It only has a 6x multiplier, but that goes up with .5 per skill, and 1 per skill when a skill song plays. This means that in a lot of situations, when you reach about 6k score, you already have the 6x multiplier. For short bursts or maximising skill songs that is the absolute best. In total those short bursts add up.
Pros: Highest multiplier in the game at 8x (not as reliant on Skill Songs)
Cons: Reliant on drift skill perks, multiplier builds slowly without Skill Song
2) Sesto Elemento FE
Pros: Skill bonuses for everything
Cons: Stuck with 5x multiplier
3) Huayra FE
Pros: Highway farming can earn skill points very quickly, perfect perk to abuse it (extra 1.5 second on chains)
Cons: Easy to break chains by hitting traffic
4) Firebird Trans Am FE
Pros: Drift bonus is the best in the game for farming
Cons: Lacks the good perks the old FE drift bonus cars had, stock tune bad for drifting, generally inferior to FD cars
IMO the best, most consistent car is the Gymkhana 10 Hoonicorn. If you can’t get one, the regular Hoonicorn has the same perks, with a 7x multiplier.
If you’re good at drifting, the FD cars usually have good drift perks and high multipliers as well.
