Dirt racing in this game seems to be mostly an asphalt track and a bit of dirt… Do you folks use the rally suspension for dirt racing and if so do you leave the settings soft like the default settings are or do you stiffen up the rally suspension?
I know that for cross country you want your suspension really soft but for dirt/asphalt racing would you want to stiffen it up a bit…or would you use the race suspension and soften that particular suspension up?
I use rally suspension/tires. Set right in the middle. Add max plus min setting in front, multiply by your front weight, if you’re not sure how to get your rear number, check out my tuning guide. There’s a handy bit of math that ensures you always have a proper spread. In most cases you can just repeat the process that you used for the front, but the GRC cars and trophy trucks have a different minimum value front to rear. You can always use the front minimum value from the front and just repeat the process for the rear, using your rear weight distribution, but the method outlined in my guide is a lot easier, and reliable imo. If you don’t wanna go center, try hovering around 15 pct of your total weight. Seems to be the sweet spot.
I use rally suspension on everything. Road cars I stiffen the rear springs a little and front a lot. Dirt cars I might leave the front alone and lower the rear only, or lower the front a little and the rear a lot. Check my thread about ride frequencies for a spreadsheet tuning aid I linked in the most recent comment. I recommend staying below 2.5hz unless the car has a lot of downforce or is obviously struggling due to bottom-out.
