It does sound nice. That is, in my opinion, one of the few supercar that do sound as i would expect too (i’ve never hear one in real life tho.). Most supercar sound to tame or generic in game, im glad this one stand out!
Speaking of sound, most AMG’s engine sound excellent, what would you think about those? I use to like to profoundness of the Hellcat in FM6 but seem a bit… fade in this one.
Ive always loved the C63 and the A45 AMG exhaust notes, it’s like I’m putting my ear right up to the muffler. And the HC 6.2 really sounded the best in FM7, swapped into a Power Wagon and thrashed. One thing though, is the C63’s sound used on other cars? I know it is the case with similar motors i.e. every k series regardless of literage and every RB in the same case. I built up the FE 8C and in it’s own right is a fantastic S2 track car, it sounds great too, exactly what I would expect from an Alfa motor, but it’s sounds suspiciously like the 6.2 in the Benz, I cannot distinguish between the two. It was a bit of a turn off to the car if it were indeed recycling an albeit accurate but not organic engine note. I could be wrong, I was racing for quite a while and may very well had just been hearing things.
No? Didn’t notice the wheeze when you did a perfect rev match and engine brake? It caught me by surprise, much like the Hoonigan Escort did with it’s turbo flutter in Horizon 3. Couldn’t get enough.
we have quite an extensive thread on how the sound in FH4 is worse than in previous installments (no arguments there).
however I wanted to ask which car sounds are your favourite, as for me personally how the car sounds is extremely important to me driving it in the first place.
Currently I’m driving the Carrera RS 2.7 a lot. Engine modded fully, without FI and the camshaft only to stage 1. It has 350hp and 400Nm of torque and the sound on full chat from 5500rpm onwards is just heavenly.
I can also recommend the Renault Alpine or the old Giulia. Both have a wonderful intake noise when driving with the hood cam.
I had bought the 458 Speciale hoping for good sound but it just sounds…muted. Very disappointing.
So, which cars can you recommend for a good aural experience?
I agree that the sounds are pretty poor compared to previous games. So far my favourite is the Carrera GT with the camshaft upgrade - it goes to 9,500 RPM and reminds me a lot of F1 cars from 2000-2005 or so. As a bonus, it’s it’s not too expensive and it’s quite a weapon at S2 998 on fast tracks and sprints.
Seriously, what happened to that noise? I’m hoping that’s one of the noises that’s fixed with the October update.
On the topic of good sounds, the Senna has to be one of the most realistic sounding cars I’ve heard in a video game. Whatever they did to make that noise in game is simply in the realm of black magic.
I haven’t driven too many cars but the best sounding cars imo are the 488 GTB, RS3 Sportback, 720S Coupe which sounds similar to the Senna but you can still hear the difference, A45 AMG, most of the Porsche GT3s and the WRX STIs. They did a really good work on the exhaust notes for most new hot hatches.
Also by driving manual with clutch I found out that the exhaust notes sound different sometimes compared to automatic or manual w/o clutch.
You think the Viper sounds good? I’m guessing you’ve never actually heard a real V10 in person. The Viper engines in FH4 sound like a cross between a single cylinder dirt bike and a V6 with a broken exhaust manifold.
The WRX STi only sounds accurate if the car has equal-length headers and a gutted catalytic converter, otherwise, they totally ruined the classic Subaru boxer rumble. To me, “best sounding” is all relative, since I have yet to find a single car in FH4 that sounds better than they did in FH3. The only exception I would make is the 6.2 V8 swap which used to have a little harmonic warble to it in FH3, seems to be a little bit better in FH4.
Personally I don’t want the cars to sound good, I want them to sound realistic. I don’t care if a car sounds like a flying mosquito in the game, as long as that’s what it sounds like in real life. The most realistic sounding cars in the game IMO are Lambo Huracan, both Audi R8, AMG GTR, 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Ferrari F12 tdf, Mclaren 720S and a few modern muscle cars. But even those cars sound a bit too tame and too “clean” in comparison to their realife counterparts.
Demon?! The Demon is one of the worst sounding cars in the game by a long shot. Doesn’t have any of the width or weight that the actual car has. It’s one of the hundreds of cars that have been engineered to only sound good on small speakers.
