Autoshow Car Vouchers in FH5

Hey, maybe we should do lootboxes too. Im sure nothing could go wrong there. And definitely hasnt been a problem for this series in the past… Or any other company like EA for example.

I love how for 2 years weve been asking for a backstage pass so we could acquire any cars we may have missed in the series’ throughout the years… But no… We get a pay to use pass for cars that WE CAN JUST USE CREDITS FOR. Nobody… Literally nobody asked for this.

Take this mobile game shlock and you can you know what with it. Seriously, did they learn nothing from the whole loot crate fiasco Motorsport 7 had? Or, are they betting that nobody has a memory going back six years or further? Seriously, if Horizon 6 is a complete grindfest with no career mode to offset the grind at launch, then I’m out of here. I’ll gladly go back to my old games permanently.

Coming soon to FH6:
Car voucher vouchers, the ability to purchase a $4.99 voucher for the low, low cost of $9.99!

A couple of ideas for the next FH5 update and FH6:

  • Exclude Premium purchasers from the FH5 voucher system entirely, they didn’t learn their lesson hard enough with the $100 version of the game now having an additional $20 in cars not included in the $30 car pass. Add a splash screen to new premium users stating “You are not entitled to vouchers. Please purchase an additional version of the game that supports vouchers.”
  • The car pass for FH6 should not include cars, but vouchers for cars that are in the autoshow. Car pass vouchers for actual car pass cars should cost twice as much, and only deluxe edition purchasers can use car pass vouchers to buy car pass cars.
  • Races reward players with “voucher points.” 1,500 points gets you a voucher, and the cost of the car is 1-5 vouchers depending on class. Each race rewards ~25 points. That’ll keep people playing for sure. Your starter car can only be purchased with vouchers, and players are given no vouchers or voucher points to begin with. Voucher points for the starter car can be purchased if you own the “Voucher Pass,” exclusive to deluxe edition users who also own the car pass.
  • Premium edition purchasers for FH6 get less voucher points and are only able to purchase vouchers in 1/3 increments.

This is pretty much the straw that broke the camel’s back

Not surprised that people here are in doom and gloom mode

Clearly, no one here does, because this system has been in the series before, last seen with Tokens in FH3, and to my knowledge, that game wasn’t a mega grindfest with cars that you could only buy for Tokens.

I mean, can you really blame people on this one though? Yes, car tokens did exist before and didn’t affect gameplay, but that was quite a long time ago. Almost a decade even. Obviously, it is far too late for vouchers to have any affect on Horizon 5, but it remains unknown if this will affect how a future sequel could operate.

Is it a premature meltdown? Perhaps, but if there’s one thing Playground and Turn 10 are both masters at, it’s discretely testing the waters. Experiment in the current game for later application in a sequel. Heck, Motorsport is already a grind-fest, and since a more robust and longer career mode in Horizon is a highly requested feature that is likely doomed for a course overcorrection, I can easily see Playground going Gran Turismo 7 on Horizon 6’s in-game economy, microtransactions and all.

I paid for one voucher when the game launched. I might have paid a few bucks for a few more at launch day, why not.

yeah, maybe though I have not drunk nearly enough tea to begin to get my head around this announcement

apparently we are gonna pay for new stuff now on a regular basis. that’s what happens after 2 years of live service I guess

@T10/PGG: I’ve a better idea. How about you make your next games subscription based? Meaning you’ve to pay a monthly fee of let’s say 10,- $ to play. It could work if you’d actually deliver proper content and services on a constant basis in exchange.

looks like the games are paying for there christmas partys

Which wouldn’t be bad… for NEW content… IF the game were running along like a well tuned machine with only a few minor issues like it should have been, since launch 2 years ago.

It would be nice to see fixes for long outstanding issues before something like this were dropped out of the clear blue.

I still have my welcome pack voucher. I guess I should have used it, but I was saving it in case there was something out of reach and that never happened.

And to think, I was just about to suggest bundling previous series’ cars into sets of car packs and selling those as well.

The car vouchers idea would not be the best idea even if it were properly utilized and executed. Limiting them to Autoshow cars - the cars in the game that are the easiest to obtain by leaps and bounds - takes a bad idea and makes it infinitely worse. This is not OK. This is a flagrant and naked cash grab meant to target people with outlandishly poor impulse control and no knowledge of how the game plays out…and let’s be honest, a lot of those people are going to be kids who have absent-minded parents and far more access to their bank accounts than they should. This is a horrible idea, and I’m not being hyperbolic at all when I say that the people who suggested and approved this should not have any more of their ideas taken under consideration for the duration of their individual employments.

I think we have good reason to be…

This is pretty concerning for the future of FH. Like others in this thread, I get the feeling this is a test for this feature, which, if successful, will be a bigger part of FH6. Either by making it a grindfest for credits, or just scrapping them entirely and making these the new currency. And to that, I say, HELL NO. Microtransactions for Forza is a horrible idea. This isn’t EA. We have plenty of reason to be in “doom and gloom mode.”

Well, they forgot to announce this one on yesterday’s live stream  Maybe even the Devs are embarrassed about the amount of monetization creeping into this game and probably future releases.
