Autoshow Car Vouchers in FH5

Hey PGG, could you pretty please stop trying to kill your game now that you’ve finally managed to pull it out of a total nosedive? For a little while there it honestly felt like things were turning around for the better.

Ok, so why weren’t FH2 or 3 like that then? The predecessors to both of those had Microtransactions, and yet, we still have Credits, we can still buy cars for them and the grind has lessened over time.

You’re making it out to be a formula changing thing, and yet, we’ve been here before and nothing mentioned in this thread has come true

Because those microtransactions weren’t one-time consumables - not even the Treasure Maps. And the vouchers make even less sense because of the restrictions. Two hours of playtime will net you more cash and cars than you’ll know what to do with. Why spend real money on that? If they were applicable to cars not available in the Autoshow, they’d make more sense. It still wouldn’t be a good idea, but there would be an actual case for purchasing and using them. This? This is just reprehensible, and if you feel the need to defend this tripe, you’re bad and you should feel bad.

no, the vouchers would be far worse if they included exclusives. that would be a slap in the face to everyone who played every Thursday for 2 years to get those cars. the voucher system is pointless but at least it’s not unfair

Tokens? Those were one-time consumables that you could buy for real money

I get that, but after a certain point, you shouldn’t feel that way. If they did this after you ground out everything for the current month, I can see that. But a year, two years down the road? Let it go. All of this stuff should be hitting the Autoshow anyway. Keeping them as FOMO carrots is disrespectful.

Who bought them? Exactly. This is a stupid idea, and if you’re defending it, you’re bad and you should feel bad.

I’m on the fence about that. I started FH4 late and was always bummed to be missing cars. I would have paid for them. now I think they should stay exclusive but should be transitioned to backstage passes like in FH4… let people vote on them weekly

Wow, kids. I’ve been wooshed again.

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the people behind these cards are the same people behind FM8

It would also be far worse because it would incentivise PGG not to re-share exclusive cars, with a view to maximising the prospects of people missing them and feeling forced to pay real money for them. They will have (rightly) not applied this “feature” to exclusive cars because they would have come in for severe criticism had they done so.

Who in their right mind would want to pay with real money for cars you can easily buy in the game?? Even if somehow you don’t have credits for them, just play a little longer or try to get them in the Auction House.

In this world of instant gratification, logic seems to have no place. I’ve seen players post in the past that they would prefer to pay for cars with actual currency, rather than grind for them, but I really don’t think that was in reference to easily accessible AS cars.
The timing of the deployment seems to be in line with new players just starting the game perhaps, but this far in, I can’t imagine that’s a very large number. Clearly a push to prop up revenue streams & engagement with this, the latest car pack & back to the 40pt exclusive car playlist for the entire series, but that’s to be expected. This particular venue is a bit of stretch though for sure.

The entire train wreck that was the first year of Forza Horizon 5 made me decide not to get Forza Horizon 6. Thanks Microsoft for remedying my temptation to reconsider that decision.

Semi related.

Thoughts on a car pass 2.0 that would be subscription-based ? So it potentially could be a win - win for both sides, us the players and the companies alike

Price points maybe
$60 / 12mo annual
$40 / 6mo semiannual
$30 / 4mo quarterly
$12 / monthly
** prices in usd

  • with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 cars delivered each month

This would be in lue of the car packs of now and newly added AS car vouchers

They’re definitely doing this so they can slide it easily into FH6. Possibly make the next game grindier which wouldn’t be a bad thing. If the game economy is balanced of course and earning credits is perfectly douable without paying extra. I know some won’t like this but FH4 and FH5 are already giving everything in abundance. So maybe its time to go back to how the older games worked.

Nowadays the car list is over 700+ likely they’ll top off horizon 5’s car list at launch. On top of that the franchise has grown so much more i bet there will be enough new players that might get tricked into paying for these vouchers. And it’s just a bit scummy.

They better not pull the same trick GT7 did at launch. But that might be what’s most likely to happen. They’ll have to dial it down but the microtransactions will stay.

When the franchise makes money we all win.
I’d rather see an announcement like this than one along the lines of “in order to focus on FH6 there will be no new content added to FH5”.

Edit to add more words.
Increased garage/paint/tune slots.
Photography enhancements, pathfinders, event lab island and prefabs.
When Mike Brown left it could have sent the creative direction in a nosedive.
Instead they are doing it better now.
They should be rewarded. “Shut up and take my money” meme here->

As long as they invest in the QA Dept

The decision to limit this to auto show only cars makes no sense. Outside of the one stupidly overpriced 150mil auto show trophy car, nothing in the auto show is really is that expensive or difficult to get.

Also it’s an extremely worrying trend for the franchise which has been falling off a cliff recently and tells me corporate leadership is trying harder to monetize the game, which unfortunately means it’s only going to get worse.

Hopefully we get a decent competitor to Forza soon, with the current state of the franchise Forza could very easily be dethroned just like Forza did to Gran Turismo back in the day.
