How are people doing this? I sold my Renault Megane RS.250 (Hard to Find) on the Auction House yesterday for 11 million and it had been sold before I could even click away the message saying it was listed. How is this possible? Some kind of bot?
That’s my guess. And against the TOS iirc but apparently hard to block I guess. Of course that wouldn’t in any way make a shambles of the in game currency etc. the way players allegedly did, and got slammed for, using actual in game mechanics to make some money.
Yes, it seems it’s often bots that check for specific cars which then get sniped faster than a human could click the necessary buttons.
I believe they’re simply macros running on a PC. User needs to be permanently logged in, macro (or bot if you prefer) performs the search criteria every once in a while (milliseconds most likely) and just buys it immediately. I’ve lost a few cars I’ve put on for friends to bots. Even messaged the winner who replied telling me he just happened to have been searching, but the speed on which the auction was bought out proved to me it wasn’t a manual search/purchase but a completely automated one. Because of that I no longer bother trying do sell certain cars to mates.
Yes, it could be a bot, but I got to the point in FH4 where I could hit buyout in a half second or so (on Xbox, no PC macros). It could very well be legit.
I doubt what Ren reported is legit. The refresh needed to see a new car or the time it finally pops-up is longer than that. It’s presumably a macro like Bonzpop wrote that runs and is just automatically pressing the respective buttons the three or four times needed and then starts again.
Macros don’t change those times
In my experience the car is actually listed and available for buyout well before you get the message that it’s listed. Could still be a bot but real players sit there looking for cars too.
I honestly think there are just that many people haunting the AH waiting for the car they want. I think a few are AH addicted, and there has to be a number of people who don’t understand there are other ways to buy some cars considering the prices you see some cars go for in spite of the fact that they can be had in the AS for far less money.
I once sold a bone stock, no paintjob 80s MR2 for over 100k, when it can be had in the autoshow for 20k. I’m convinced these are the same people who then complain about money in this game. I can see no other explanation, considering the game just showers you with cash and prizes to the point where credits have no real value to me anymore, and haven’t since about week 3.
With the way the AH auto-refreshes now, it could easily be legit.
Trying to figure out rhyme or reason of the auction house… that’s some dangerous headspace.
You’d be amazed how fast a determined human on a console is. I’m surprised my A button still works.
How about you guys do a quick Google search with the respective terms and see what you’ll find?
I think it’s a combination of lack of knowledge, “credits to burn” & potentially just wanting a specific car from a specific designer/tuner. I fully realize this doesn’t always make sense considering when there are other options that will allow for the “same” car by purchasing lower & DL’ing desired liveries/tunes as applicable, but it typically doesn’t happen that way in my experience.
In the past, when I would create a livery for one of the weekly cars available from the AS, I would often create a fully upgraded “max” tune as well, worth usually 100k credits or more, apply both to the car & drop it into the AH with the absolute minimum starting bid (sometimes as low as a few thousand credits) & leave the buyout at 20M credits for a 24hr auction just to let players know it’s out there.
My thought process was that it would stay on for the full 24hrs, as no one would pay 20M credits for the car & someone would actually get a fully upgraded model cheap at the end of the auction, but inevitably, they would always get bought out shortly after, regardless of how many other cars were for sale at basically next to nothing.
Additionally, there are definitely those running auction sniper programs for desired cars (plenty of info out there on it) but as others have said, there are a large number of those doing it manually. For quite a while, that’s the only method I would use to get the new cars without having to deal with the playlist, but it gets very tedious after a while, not to mention frustrating.
People are just adding missing cars to their collection in order to get the badges. RS 250 is a pretty rare Playlist car, that was easy to miss out on. Hence, there’s always a bunch of people sniping this one.
Just like the Nissan Z 2023 or the 2020 and 2021 MG cars can take you several hours of camping the AH to finally get one.
My personal favorite, especially in FH4 where it happens more often, is when there’s a hard-to-find car as a basic seasonal championship prize, and yet it’ll still sell for millions almost instantly. I guess 10 minutes of driving is too much for a free car for some people.
Yep. And the corollary to that, where everyone is selling off their previously acquired high ticket car the season or series before it will be that easy championship prize for free and the price crashes, and people are snapping them up there too. At least in that case they might be forgiven for not knowing it will soon be free to earn or cheaper in the AH. Of course, it doesn’t take much play to make buying even at 20M the easier way lol. What else is there to do with the money ?
Yeah, I have 466 million and counting in FH4, and well over 200 million in FH5, with all of the (actually available) cars owned. It’s a meaningless number at this point.
Is it also the case, and correct me if i’m wrong, that in FH4 you could only purchase one of each vehicle from the Autoshow, if you wanted another one then you had to use the AH or wait for it to appear in the Festival Playlist? However in FH5, you can purchase as many Autoshow cars as your bank and garage limit allows. Maybe some people have not realized this?
It’s just car pass cars that you can only buy once, autoshow cars you can buy as many as you want
You only got 1 free with car pass, even there you could by as many as you want.
I totally agree. The only importance has for me is in my achieving a self-imposed goal of 999 million, just because… I am not quite half way there in Horizon 5 (and like you, owning all actually available cars). Then again, I am not sure how legitimately hard I am trying at this goal since I list a good number of my duplicate cars in the AH at the rock bottom starting price and don’t list any of the cheapies at all (those just get deleted)
