It slows you down so much compared to driving properly that it certainly provides no advantage. It’s just there to help people who’ve never played a racing game before to ease into the game.
I started Forza with Forza Motorsport 3 and since it was my first racing game for several years and I knew only a few tracks I was terrible! For me the automatic braking helped me get to grips with driving the car and taught me about braking zones and really helped me out when I was a complete novice. Over time I switched to normal braking and then took off the ABS eventually and now drive with only clutch on the assists. So for me the assisted braking was essential when I was learning and I’m sure it has helped countless others, so I hope it stays!
Well either he’s not being entirely honest or he is playing a rather unskilled group of players. If assisted braking was really that quick you would see loads of people on the leaderboards using it. It’s a good learning tool but without it you will be so much faster I can’t even being to explain. But don’t just take my word for it, I’m sure plenty of other people will tell you the same thing.
It is possible to win on the ovals with assisted braking. Half the field usually gets totaled lol.
Also, what league difficulty? If it’s Grassroots then anything is possible. The slowest players are in that league. For examale, if you would use assisted braking in the pinnacle league, you would likely get lapped at least once.
Speaking from experience, I can tell you that sometimes people have issues that prevent them from playing the game without the assists. The assists make it much easier for those folks to enjoy the game.
The assisted braking will certainly not give you an advantage over controlling it yourself. If you have ever seen the braking line, you would know that it brakes way too soon. I think your friend may be either confused or playing a prank on you.
My granny brakes later than the autobrakes in the game lol
If someone has won with it on then props to them, they are mighty quick.
Out of all assists autobraking is one that is guaranteed to either you down or at least put a cap on how fast you can get with your laptimes.
If there was such a thing as a card we can play online which forces other players to turn on one assist (if we chose to) I would force everyone else to turn on autobraking. It would provide me with an advantage over them.
It’s more like having an auto-aim that takes 5 times as long to find its target as you would.
Seriously, go turn it on and take a look. It’s dreadful. I reckon I’m 5-10 secs per lap slower with it on. I had to start over recently because of a corrupted save which meant I had to do that onboarding intro race in the GT40 around Rio, and that’s run with all assists on. My car was braking several metres earlier and far harder than I would have, even in places where I wouldn’t brake at all.
@Random - as folks have said this helps new racers. If you are really concerned about cheating, I’d suggest you try a race with it enabled and then repeat with it disabled. You’ll soon see that Assisted Braking “On” is way, way slower. If it turned out to be faster for you in particular, then I’d say get a bit more practice in place without using Assisted Braking and you will soon cross that threshold that the rest of us have found.
As everyone else has already said, Auto braking is in no way faster and in fact is way slower. Your buddy was playing against a bunch of people that were not skilled in the slightest if he won a nascar endurance race with auto-braking on.
Assisted Braking is not cheating. As everyone else has said, it is for new player and is easily 5-10 seconds slower than normal, manual braking. Anyone winning in multiplayer with assisted braking turned on is either up against brand new players that are also using assisted braking, or are crashing into the walls (or each other?) on every turn. Those are the only logical answers.
