I’ve been wondering for a while if its time for an overhaul of the racecars in Forza. It seems as a all of the race cars are a lot slower than their real counterparts, yet the road cars are very close to their real life performance, and others have less performance in game compared to in game competitors. I Know on the last point people will say its to make for better racing but I don’t understand why a GT500 and 90s GT1 cars would be slowed to a 2005 GT1 level when the GT3 cars in the game aren’t balanced well, if you were to give the real cars a PI rating, the GT3 cars would all be within a point or two as they are actually performance balance in IRL, or the fact they didn’t balance the non hybrid LMP1 (the not a Toyota Oreca R-one) with the Hybrids cars.
Does it matter to you guys if the certain cars a balanced or would you rather see them given their real performance for example:
The Lamborghini trofeo cars should be slower than the GTE/GT3 cars as they are slower by 2 to 5 seconds depending on track.
The Civic WTCC should be a lot faster than the BTCC cars given WTCC cars have 40-50bhp more and produce more downforce and are closer to GT3 than NGTC/S2000 in terms of lap speed.
The STCC Volvo should be faster than it is.
The GT500 Nissan is much faster than the DBR9 and in fact can lap close to LMP1 cars.
The 2015 Porsche 919 was often 4-6 seconds quicker than the 2014 LMP1 cars.
The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo has its simulated hybrid power but doesn’t have 4WD like it should and if the Lola Mazda Diesel could be given the performance it should of had but didn’t, then why couldn’t they have given the GT-R the drive layout its should of had.
The LMP900s (BMW LMR Audi R8 etc) should a lot slower than the newer LMPs.
The Ferrari 333SP is out of place as it was slower than the GT1 911, which itself its too slow in game.
The Group C and McLaren MP4 are faster in game than the modern counterparts, yet IRL they are much slower, the 919 is faster at Le Mans than Group C was without chicanes.
A lot of cars are imbalanced in other ways, I see the 787B is one of the fastest P cars yet in IRL it was never very fast, to me it ruins the immersion when a car that’s wasn’t very fast for the time 25 years ago, can beat some of the fastest racecars we have ever seen (2015 LMP1). We also have a lot of handling imbalances the Lola B12 Mazda has a handling rating of 9.1 when the 2014 rules LMP1s have 8.5 to 8.7, which is odd as the Lola Mazda is heavier and has less downforce as its an old design with less downforce producing surfaces (the 2005-2012 Lolas never had the grip of the other LMP2 rivals). There is the Riley DP that can get higher rating than the Toyota TS040, which is funny as the IMSA series had trouble balancing Daytona prototypes with LMP2s as the DPs didn’t have anywhere near the grip of the LMP2s so had to give them an extra 100bhp to be as quick.
My last point and the most important for me is that I feel the every racecar needs to be faster over a lap, they don’t seem to have the cornering speeds (some times V.Max too) as the should have over the road cars. The Hypercars and Caparo etc. are a lot quicker than the S and R class cars when realistically the P1, 918 would get dominated by the GT cars the they can so easily beat in game. No matter what track you look at you will find the big 3 are now where near even the slowest of GT cars, yet in game you don’t stand a chance.
Times from spa of the top of my head:
GTE 2:16s
my in game times are around 2:25
GT3 2:19
WTCC 2:23
Approx. BTCC time would be similar to the S2000 WTCC cars and GT4 spec and would put them 2:30-2:35
McLaren P1 2:38
At Sebring I could do a 2:04 in a la Ferrari but only a 2:06 in a GTE car, the pole time this year was in the 1:58s
I know I’m not the Quickest (was 2 seconds off of number 1 in the world on the Brands community hunter thing) but I can lap a road car around Laguna Seca a second or so quicker the Randy Pobst MotorTrend times yet in Race cars I am around 6-10 second from where they should be.
So where do you guys think the racecars are losing out physics wise and does it bother you their performance isn’t scaled well with the road cars.
