The problem is not you, the problem is that the game is only focused on people like you. By making a game easy means taking away the purpose for many of us who want a challange. And remember horizon didnt start as an easy all can complete game. It started as a open world racing game, and thats why most of us is still around. If fh5 was the first game then i would of played 1 time and then uninstalled it. But thats not the case, i remember how good this serie used to be and i am really the stupid one who still stay around and waiting for the series to come back to what it once was. But common sence tells me this series is gone for us core gamers and it will never be back.
@El_Barto_inc , I’m not a kid, I’m 64. And I’m 100% in agreement with you.
But the game isn’t designed for those who want a challenge to crank up the challenge in the playlist stuff. The developers could set up the playlist with levels of challenge.
So I can see the point of those who want a more challenging gaming experience. I do wish we could all appreciate the levels of gaming abilities of the players here in our (forum) house and not get so elitist against each other over the gaming levels.
The problem isn’t the players, it’s the developers and how the are designing the game. The playlist didn’t get set to easy because the developers “listened” to the complaints here. We all know they don’t listen to us. The developers set the game to easy to draw in a bigger player base so marketing could attract investors such as Mattel. And very possibly some of the EV manufacturers (ie Cupra) paid for spots in the game because of the marketing tools of that 30 million (lookyloos) base. That’s why this game is getting easier and that’s why this game will continue on along easy street.
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
This is a subject I’m very torn on. I want more of a challenge, particularly in the form of more realistic physics, but also in the form of a less generous grind, making the cars I do have more special and the cash I have feel more earned than thrown at me aggressively.
However that does make the game far less accessible, and one of the things I’ve always appreciated about FH is how easy it is to get into, even for a non-car person, while also being deep enough to act as a launching point into more technical games, as it did for me. When I first got FH3, it was at the end of a long search for a game to fill the hole that NFS: Underground 2 left, a game that I sort of just casually picked up and ended up enjoying more than I expected. Now, I’m big into racing games.
So I try to focus my energy on baseline design decisions and gameplay modes that can add depth for anyone in the game. You know, provide more and better paths to personal improvement and enjoyment without ruining the game’s accessibility. Hence my hard focus on custom championships.
I don’t want to say leave hardcore stuff to the hardcore sims, because I do want a hardcore open world racer. I want desperately to show that there is demand for that. But I do appreciate what FH currently is, in spite of it’s faults, and I do want those who want a more casual and accessible experience to have that. I can appreciate the concessions that it makes even if I don’t want them now, especially since those very concessions are what onboarded me into a deeper dive into racing games to begin with.
OK, too long didn’t read warning and summary… Forza and/or Players BAD !
Something Forza hasn’t gotten… right is the wrong word… umm, balanced ? is the whole challenging but fun, and lets throw in rewarding too. Partly (mostly ?) because they’re trying to please everyone.
The Trial is probably the best example of it. It is supposed to be HARD. The hardest challenge in the game. You’re not supposed to be up for doing it without a lot of play hours to have earned the skill to compete against UNBEATABLE drivatars. (just ignore the silly name for the difficulty) But yeah, between cheats and simply buying fully leveled accounts there are a lot of people in it who shouldn’t be and when they can’t win they complain and it got nerfed. Or PGG looked at the stats and said “Gee, 97% of the players in The Trial this week are DNF ? WE MADE IT TOO HARD !” and it got nerfed. But let’s admit that sometimes it is STUPID hard, even for the best veteran drivers because of STUPID choices for track/condition/car and that’s totally on the game to own up to and fix. Fix properly. Not by making the drivatars stupid.
Then there’s the reward(ing) side of it. Yes there’s an element of the player base that want’s everything handed to them for nothing (see again cheats and buying accounts) but the bigger issue is this whole tying everything to completing everything in the chore list. It’s been long said that it would be better if players had a choice of what they’d like to play without it being forced to get the extra cars. Like doing half the playlist should get all the cars offered. Playing more would simply be it’s own reward in fun. But no, grind grind grind doing loathsome chores or miss out on the new cars. So. Much. Fun. But hey, it’s great for the engagement metrics !
And why can’t there be different levels of difficulty in EVERY game mode ? And competitive ranked games for those who want it ? And so much more. Instead of… whatever this is… kindergarten karts ?
And of course there’s the whole mess of bugs, apparent lack of care in so many aspects of the game, no (or little) meaningful communication to players, and… I’m tired. Nuff. Already tldr I’m sure, even for those who ignored the warning above
@AnakalaRon Just to clarify I’m 45 year old “kid” …
Using that in previous post, as it was described as difficulty for kids.
There are so many things wrong in this game from the start, that … I don’t know.
All I know that even if people say its too easy and I’m all in for that, fun was never there. Being only such game out there is another problem, devs can do whatever they want.
At one point I’d like to play RDR2, Divinity OS2, Hogwarts L, Horizon ZD, that I have installed … maybe its their time now
Pretty much this. Forza, especially Horizon, is usually either comically easy, or pointlessly hard, and both usually arise from bad game design rather than a challenge that was intentionally made easy or difficult.
As it should be! I to am still a kid at heart! Although I only play the racing games. And levels where I can kick back and relax.
If I want to get tense and competitive I just go for a drive to the store!
And if the developers would give the game the option to select from just above comically easy to as hard as the elite players want, they actually would have absolutely the best game of all time. Um, minus the bugs of course, or at least some of them.
Wouldn’t be possible while the AI is so poor, a good range of difficulty can’t be achieved while they’re like they are.
FIFA does the same thing to create difficulty, on it’s equivalent of Unbeatable every player is buffed to 99 in every stat along with playing a way that just isn’t possible for a human player, so even if you play a team with the worst 11 players in the entire game they will play the exact same as the 11 best.
Take it from someone who’s played a lot of both FH and FIFA, comparing a game’s mechanics to FIFA’s is highly, highly insulting.
Seeing as the next FH will likely use FM’s AI system I’m hoping what they’ve said about it is true and not just marketing rubbish.
Only then might we be able to get some form of consistent difficulty curve, because this game is a lost cause in that regard.
That does not give me any hope because fh’s ai was taken from fm’s ai in the xbox one days
