I Don’t know about anyone else but, I was looking forward to this “expansion” (I’ll get to why I put it in “” in a moment.) When I saw the achievement list and saw the achievement to use Nos I was excited, But then after waiting about a week in hype I got the game and was just unsatisfied, First of all this is NOT an expansion, It is a limitation. An expansion EXPANDS the game, it doesn’t allow you to use 135 roads out of the 315 that are in the full game and not allow things that are the norm for forza such as tuning and upgrading (FH2). I also was astonished when I saw, after beating F&F, the option to buy FH2, This made me more angry than it probably should have but I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be offered something I alright own, ESPECIALLY when Turn 10 know most of the people who play this “expansion” are people who own the game. Was F&F fun? yeah it was I’ll admit it was pretty cool to drift that Charger around but quite frankly I already most of those cars in the Full game, The Supra (a little different), The Cuda (not the same year but its pretty damn close), The Roadrunner (acts like any other muscle car in the game), The Bugatti ( the exact same), The Jeep (Its pretty much like driving the Hummer), and the Charger (I already have a 900hp charger and it looks better to me) etc. Basically all I’m saying is that its an advertisement to people who already own the game. If Turn 10 wasn’t planning on advertising Furious 7 then we would see cars like the original supra from the first movie and the 2F2F Skyline and maybe even the evo from Tokyo dift. All I’m asking is if anyone feels the same way?
I got exactly what was advertised. It was meant as an advertisement for Furious 7 and a way to offer a good chunk of Forza Horizon 2 to those who do not own the game which, compared to Xbox One ownership is not as high as you’d think. In that regard, I think it does a good job and incorporates much of what makes FH2 great. Hopefully those who play this standalone “expansion” and do not have the title already enjoy it and purchase it.
I’m mostly shocked at how many of these posts and responses I keep seeing. It was delivered as advertised. If you read the article you knew what was coming. No one forced you to download it. No on forced you to play it when you realised how it was going and when you realized you did not like it.
For those that did not have fun, did not like it,and then come here complaining “that it sucked, it was terrible, why did you make me play this” my response is always the same - “no one forced you, you make you own choices, just because you’re not good at making choices is not someone elses fault.”
To answer your question - yes, I looked forward to it. Yes, I payed it. Yes, I enjoyed it. Would I pay money for it had I not downloaded it for free - no. Will I be playing it again now that I’ve beat it - no, it’s getting uninstalled after I see if I have all the Forza Reward points. The only reason I’d play it again is to get the remaining Forza Reward points to max it out.
There’s the kicker really. Yes, it’s free - for now - but they consider the content to be good enough to justify a price tag. I disagree, as do you, as would most people judging by how they almost exclusively rely on “But it’s free!” to shoot down any criticism they see.
I’m not going to pretend it wasn’t enjoyable but ultimately I could have got the same amount of enjoyment just playing the core game. For an expansion there wasn’t an awful lot of new stuff to see, and many of the 400+ viewers when I streamed it picked up on that as well. It’s an extemded, re-voiced demo at best, a demo that I’ll gladly recommend to people who haven’t played FH2 yet but I don’t see much waving in front of existing FH2 owners. With the price tag, I couldn’t recommend it to either party.
But for all this, I’ll admit that there’s not a great deal of point getting worked up over it. I’m pretty sure even Playground Games know that this is an underwhelming excuse for an expansion pack - but they did exactly what they were sponsored by Universal Studios to do, and nothing more. I’m certain future expansions will have the same amount of love as they gave to Storm Island at the very least. =)
Methinks you’re being a little forgiving, PPi. You know I’m a fairly reasonable guy, and I feel like I was misled as well. The only reason I’m not genuinely angry is that it was free.
Why did they call it an “Expansion”? A proper expansion pack should mesh with the main game. I’ve stood up for some of T10/PGs more questionable decisions in the past, but this time I cannot. I can’t paint, upgrade or tune the cars. I can’t drive them on most of the map, or on Storm Island. NOS is essentially a visual gimmick??? This is weak stuff, my friend, weak stuff. This is no expansion; Storm Island was an expansion. This is the demo again with F&F cars and a few more events. It could also be considered an interactive ad for F&F 7.
I can’t believe they intend to charge money for this, ever.
You may be right. I do agree with you, Zeem, and many others. The difference I thinks is that I am not shocked at what the product was because I new what was coming, I understand it, and I’m not getting angry. I think my biggest shock is not with the poor demo, advert, standalone, whatever it i you want to call it but with all the complaints. I simply don’t understand the people that come to the forum, make a post saying how bad it was, but how they continued to play through to the end, and how they’re upset it was a waste of time or such. Simply put, if it’s as bad as they say it is why did they continue playing? Why did they not stop and do something else? Clearly, it can’t be as bad as they say or they wouldn’t have continued playing and then gone out of their way to make sure we know they did play the whole thing. I guess that’s the norm these days however… I hope that makes sense.
I thought the NOS was bad, I did not use it. You don’t see me running around complaining how I am being forced to race in Forza using NOS and it’s all the developers fault and it’s a waste of my time and someone has to make it up to me. That is the difference.
I think it was most definitely a smart choice to have this be a free product for the first couple weeks. I also wish the blue color scheme could be used in FH2 instead of the almost impossible to see poor white and yellow.
Had I had to pay for this, I would be quite angry as even at $10 that money could be much better spent on 2 DLC packs for the real game, a yummy lunch, or put towards another game I actually want. On the other hand, were it a paid only product I would have waited to see gameplay and reviews before making the purchase.
Aye, you’re not wrong. To be fair, my posts in this thread have echoed many others, but tbh my true feelings are somewhere between theirs and yours.
“Angry” isn’t the word (you saw my tounge-in-cheek response in the other thread), disappointed is closer. They had an amazing opportunity to mesh an entertaining-but-not-exactly-realistic car movie with an entertaining-but-not-entirely-realistic car game, advertised that they’d done just that, then served up some exceedingly weak tea instead.
Perhaps my expectations were too high? I was able to enjoy “The Crew” because I went in with VERY low expectations, which it exceeded. However, THIS is T10 and PG, who I expect more from; this (car games) is their home turf!
At least we do seem to agree it’s not worth $10 (a yummy lunch sounds GREAT).
Ah well, it’s not like I’m boycotting Forza or anything, just a little miffed this standademo expansiommercial was so… meh.
In reality it’s an expansion. We all knew (or atleast the smart ones knew) this was just promoting furious 7 and horizon 2. Why do you think it’s free at the moment? The people play the the game for free have more chance to buy horizon 2 or see the movie. If your one to start pointing fingers then by all means quit playing turn 10 and playground games creations. The type of people who complain about every little thing they can about a game ruin the online part of any game. (Hints a reason why some people are no longer friends with me)
I got to drive Dom’s Charger. That’s really all I cared about. So for me it was worth the FREE download. I would love these cars in a car pack for sure.
Definitely not worth $10, about 2 hrs to 100% completion if you take your time and I’m pretty furious that I can’t use the Roadrunner in the main game.
Exactly. It’s a free Demo for a Movie Title. It’s not really an expansion, as it’s not adding anything to any of the games you currently have. It’s a Demo with new models using an existing map. Look at the bright side. Maybe, if we’re lucky, we might just be looking at some new added content later on.
You got to admit, it would be sweet if they add some of these cars as DLC.
That’s why I can’t feel any hate for this. Think about it: it’s a movie tie-in game that is both functional and free – and when it stops being free, it will only be ten bucks. Considering that the gaming world is littered (and will continue to be littered) with horribly broken movie tie-ins sporting $50-$60 price tags, FH2 F&F is solidly in the “WIN” column as far as I’m concerned.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute I have spent playing the F&F add on. New challenges, another barn find, more bonus boards, new bucket list items, some new cars… all for $0.00 I am not disappointed in the least. I find that I got exactly what was advertised.
I have completed nearly all of FH2. I have a couple bucket list items to complete, and a couple of achievements that require me to be in multiplayer, which currently is not working for me, so this new F&F addition was very welcome.
I am especially enjoying the supercharged Charger as well as the 2015 Charger.
I half expected to see only this much content in F&F. I mean, why else would they offer it for free? The cars are cool, but to me this just feels like a prolonged demo. It will stay on my console for the sole purpose of online multiplayer with my non-Horizon 2 friends.
really can’t believe there’s people that complain about getting FREE things…even if it is only free for 2 weeks, you still got it for FREE
you are probably the same people that complain about FREE car packs because they aren’t the cars you want
i bet if someone gave you a million dollars you would find something to complain about too
i would have paid the $10 too , even if it gave me enjoyment for only 2 hours, most actual DLC costs more than that and you most often get less than 2 hours extra
yeh it’s a standalone game, more of a demo ( with 1000 gamerscore)
i just hope the cars in it will eventually get added to the main Horizon 2 game…
cars were a joke to me. way way too slow. the charger has a huge blower sticking out of the hood making 900+ hp and yet the baby stock huracan smokes it. these cars appear way faster in the movies they are all turds in the game i drove the huracan every chance i got
