Easily second best after the original. The lighting especially is a particular highlight. Better than any of sequels, even if it is more artificial. Sound design is top tier too. Biggest drawback is its road trip system. It’s a novel idea that gets long in the tooth quickly. Very repetitive. However, it has a long endgame on par with Horizon 3, so there’s way more to do after completing the main campaign than both Horizon 4 and 5. Took me over 3 years playing it off and on to complete.

Believe it or not fh2 was my least favorite Horizon title honestly. Dont get me wrong the map and everything was beautiful… But the actual campaign/events/roadtrip was not my cup of tea. You play through all the races in one car type then once that car type is done you do it all over again with a different car type. Which kinda made me dislike it even more . Compared to titles like fh4s beautiful seasons, or fh3s large cities, only thing visually that really stood out to me fh2 wise was some of the roads alongside the oceans.

Its also important to note which version of fh2 your looking into. Fh2 branched off on the one and 360. Due to limitations alot of the 360 version is missing key parts of the map thats on the one version. It also has alot more bugs on the 360 version and alot of visually confusing parts (trees growing sideway off mountains i.e.)

Interesting enough the title almost gave the franchise nitrous too. As each game likes to build off each other. The fast and furious dlc (hit eol so currently unavailable) had nitrous. But I assume it didnt go over well so that idea was scratched. Even then there wasnt really that many events where you could use Nitrous anyways.

Do you like Singleplayer?

Do you like doing the same thing over and over again with some story bits mixed in between?

If yes, get it (but not for more than the original asking price), if no, don’t.

People go on and on about how the earlier FH games had better progression, but I just don’t see it.

FH2 just has a boatload of championships and there’s not much to do after that.

The map is nice but kind of restrictive compared to later Horizon games. It’s not really open world.

That said, the Xbox One version is worth playing, in my opinion.

Discs are £10… it’s good - but you’d need to wait at least 100 years for it to become a rarity. Map is nice, but VERY REPETITIVE and I’d only play it to explore the map. Don’t have an Xbox One and had to live with the horrible 360 version. Horrible.
