It can’t be that we have to restart the game every 3 races or something. This sucks the remaining tiny bit of fun out of the game, i mean the game is already in a very bad state. But this is just too much, i am sick and tired of it. Yesterday i restarted the game 3 times in just a few hours, because it becomes unplayable with erratic FPS drops after every 3 races.
I can play Forza Horizon 5 for 12 hours if i want to and NEVER have to restart it. Get it together, the game has already been on the market for 6 months, i mean at some point you gotta FIX THINGS.
And fix the horrible CPU performance, make the game take advantage of multithreading, invite some ppl from AMD and INTEL to fix your mess if you have to and pay them money. If you can’t fix the problem yourselves.
I mean here check this out HOW BAD the distribution of the workload is, it’s a total mess. It’s like the game is still coded like a DX11 game, but it already uses DX12_1 hardware feature level afaik.
Yes it’s horrible how bad i drive in that video, but it’s not about that. I kept looking at the MSI Afterburner numbers. I read somewhere the game starts dropping frames, more and more and at some point it becomes unplayable.

I don’t have it as bad but do agree that there is something that can trigger what you are pointing out @JohnDoe9302
I find it happens if you set the game to enable “assistance” as in the blind aid controls. Feels like it’s something that Turn10 did on purpose to “punish” any afkers cause they seem to get a kick out of taking back something that they see as a “Hack” or just for kicks. How bizarre how bizarre
I can drive 3-4 hours in several 45 minutes races on Nordschleife in freemode without getting problems. But i already get stuttering after just doing 2 races in career mode, in the training of the third race in career mode i start to get the FPS drops.
It’s like the more assets are loaded and unloaded the faster the FPS drops happen.
Yep got it on the C class or was it B at Maple Valley today, don’t really care but had to terminate the game and on returning I just went back to Rivals as there’s 6 weeks to complete and I care not for the reward ride.
Better to enjoy what works than to slave over what doesn’t
Yesterday i stopped playing after i got the FPS drops in the 3rd training of the open class A builders cup series. I finished the 3rd race, did the 4th training and 4th race it all was fine. Then i did the first 2 races of the open class S cup and then guess what, in the 3rd training on Catalunya i got the FPS drops again. I recorded it, but this time without MSI Afterburner.
But the weirdest part is, i figured out something. After i stopped the recording i accidently drove off the race track and then did a rewind and that STOPPED the FPS DROPS. I suddenly had my fixed 75 FPS again. It’s so crazy rewinding is a workaround for this issue. But it still didn’t feel like it is after a fresh restart of the game, tiny bit stuttery BUT the FPS drops themselves were completely gone. That is such weird behaviour, i hope they can fix this mess somehow.
But seriously, everyone that have problem with fps drops / memory leak, are using rtx 3000 or 4000 GPUs, Its possible that it’s more of driver problem than game itself. On AMD gpus I did not have fps drops caused by memory leak, only some freezes when I use ultra desings details
I also get the leak on my laptop that has a RTX 2070. I haven’t tested it with my 3rd machine that still has a GTX 1070, but i assume it’s the same problem.
Maybe AMD users aren’t affected because of the much V-RAM, but RTX 4080 users also have 16 GB afaik and RTX 3090 (24 GB V-RAM) ppl are affected too i think. So hmm there is something fishy going on.
In the Steam community ppl with AMD GPU’s have the same problem iirc.
Unlocked (v-sync) in game, with 100hz monitor setting. So I get 100fps lock in multiplayer
All setting manually set to ultra, with rt off, and flashbang off (I don’t remember how it’s called) 100% res scale.
I’ll give it a try and turn off designs too. I turned off v-sync in the nvidia control panel and set it to let application decide for FM23 and activated v-sync unlocked ingame.
I do have same issues as you have with an RTX 3070. I thought it was related to the GPU temperature, so I cleared the GPU fans on my laptop, those were quite clogged with cat hair, and after that I got cooler temps, even so, the game has FPS drops. it’s playable but not what you were expecting.
All of the fps issues seem to be gone now for me. I can play the game for hours without experiencing any fps issues.
For today’s standards, I’m running it on a potato PC. Just a 3070 and 5800x at 1440p max settings +Raytracing off and a 144hz monitor. Always get stable 72 fps online and 100++ fps in single player.
I have no clue what caused this, since I didn’t change anything in particular - so the only explanation I can come up with is that the latest patches and probably the latest Nvidia drivers fixed the issues.
Maybe it works right for you now because you “only” have 8 cores and not 16. I did the Flat Six cup on Thursday and also haven’t experienced any frame drops. I always got my game limited to 75 FPS. I wish it would work better and DLSS wouldn’t look like garbage in this game. DLSS completely ruins all fences and flag poles and such things, all of that stuff is aliased then. It also causes horrible ghosting effects behind the own car in 3rd person view.
Not true. I’m using an RX6600 and i can notice that my system RAM usage generally climbs the longer i keep playing. Or more specifically, the more tracks and environments that get loaded/ unloaded.
Upon launch, it’ll be showing about 10-10.5 GB used, and over time it will slowly creep up to 11, 12, sometimes 13+, (I only have 16GB installed) at which point I’ll need to quit and relaunch the game.
I first started noticing this behavior after update 5, though i can’t say it definitely didn’t happen before then. I suppose it’s possible that turning down some settings might improve the situation, but the game already looks barely passable as it is, running on mostly Medium settings at 1080p. It still blows my mind how Horizon 5 - an older game, in an open world - looks and performs so much better.
