If I want to race in the rain I play PCars2, if I want to race in a game that let’s me modify cars it’s FM7. Going to retry GT7 soon to see how that’s going, shame the rain in FM8 is based around “the new to motorsport” rpg crowd that probably are years away from actually obtaining a driving license irl, you know the ones that say “but the satnav said to go this way” as the car is being pulled from the river.
We can agree to disagree. I dont know why youd think there would be rules against a developer hiring employees or theres a rule that contractors are required to be used it makes no sense.
Theres also been many instances over the years of Microsofts lack of hands on approach has been a detriment to its games. To think they micromanage things like this is hard to believe.
Turn 10 earns revenue through their games couldnt tell you the cut but they do, they earn a cut of horizon as they contribute to it, they are likely budgeted money to keep the studio running which would include full time employees and they get a budget to produce motorsport games.
You might find some big companies allot a number of hires per year to their divisions. Or you might have to write a dossier to justify hiring anyone to begin with.
Meanwhile, you could get unlimited contractors, within budget of course. But then you might also be limited to hiring contractors from this or that consultancy company.
This isn’t micromanagement. Big companies just tend to have rigid standard processes for everything, including hiring.
The contractor who told his story about working on the game said he worked hard thinking he’d land a full time job because he was told that it was a possibility. Now of course its possible a company could falsely dangle a carrot like this with the hopes it would entice a temp worker to care, but eventually that worker would hear stories if this was a real possibility or not. Up until he was let go he still thought he had a chance which leads me to believe others had been hired.
I dont think everthing needs to be more than what it seems just to suit a particular narrative. I dont believe microsoft puts shackles on its game studios and controls every part of each team. Theyre known to have a hands off approach and i would assume especially in the case of turn 10 who is one of their original studios more autonomy wouldve been granted anyway.
Turn 10 had always delivered, while not perfect, solid games and technical showcases every time. Even forza 5 which probably was the most difficult game they had to make with the xbox ones short comings, delivered a native 1080p@60fps game at launch.
I dont believe in blaming publishers everytime a game doesnt do well. Sometimes the troubles are right in front of you. The game direction was at fault, even if there were no bugs and it was perfectly optimized on every pc, the game is lackluster.
The direction not only cut content but also features from past games. This was a conscience decision, it wasnt due to time constraints or budget issues or contracted workers. Their vision of what this game was going to be is not shared with the players both new and old its as simple as that.
i counted the raindrops falling on one square meter of the track in one minute. Than drove with a car in the same conditions. Made a highly complicated formula how much rain drops have to fall on the windscreen at the same time (one minute).
And guess what? I counted 7 rain drops less than expected. I have no idea, how a game in 2024 can have that big of a flaw. And i came to the conclusion, that there is no real rain physics for every rain drop. Thats enough now. Game will be deledet asap.
A life without expectations must be beautiful. I wonder why they bother adjusting the engine noise when I step on the gas.
A text adventure would probably be enough for you. It says ‘You drive really fast and you’re the best’
As long as i dont waste my time counting trees or comparing hundrets of photos with a game, i am totally fine with my life. Less expectations=less trouble+more freedom.
Agreed!
Good question
Two words. Lazy and dated.
Hey everybody, been a while since I posted as I just don’t get as much time to game or post online.
I hate coming up with these “complaint” threads now and then but it needs to be said:
The rain effects are not that convincing in this game. I’m specifically talking about windscreen effects, the way it hits the windscreen at different speeds and how wipers react with it.
It’s just not convincing - I think the older Forza games and even the Horizon games do a better job. I was watching videos of PGR4, Assetto Corsa Comp, Drive Club, PCARS 1, 2, and 3 - Oh my word, the rain effects are incredibly convincing.
Why can’t Forza have that level of immersion? The wipers look so fake moving across the screen - it’s as if they’re not even interacting with the raindrops but just moving randomly. It’s weird.
Okay, I’m done, thank you.
