What’s the point of the minimum skill/safety rating on playlists if it’s never going to be used?
Every single race feels the same, one guy flying and the rest fighting for their lifes. This does not help the fact that children cried over dynamic weather and got it removed. Such a lame act to do on both sides, people complaining over race dynamism and Turn10 for listening at that joke.
When are we going to have S/A/B rank EXCLUSIVE racing? I am not asking for a matchmaking system, they already showed they don’t want to create something like that because of the low playerbase, geez I wonder if the game was better more people would play, but we’ll never know.
I hate this so much, this game has such insane potential it’s impressive, but a child of a crackhead couple would get more love than this. The lack of small details just proves my point further. This hurts me so much, this game could have been so much, but Microsoft and its terrible management happened.
Thanks for listening to my rant, please use the features already implemented in the game, and bring back dynamic weather, AT LEAST for endurance racing.
These systems only work if there is a large enough player base. If 30 people are online there is only so much separation that can take place compared to 3000 people online.
I don’t think that’s true. I was S then had a 9sec penalty endurance race, and dropped to B. Then shortly after had a 5.5s long race and now I’m chilling at C.
They need to adjust safety rating for longer length races IMO. Medium length multiply by 1/2, long 1/4, endurance 1/8. Just as far as impact on safety rating goes.
I hated spending 20 minutes practicing with wets to boot into dry lobbies, or vice versa
No forecast system, no weather slot system… it’s not a fair challenge at that point, it’s a lottery
Removing it was the right choice and if they can re-implement it with some level of basic forecast system—doesn’t even need to be a radar—then it will make sense
Well true, that was bit extreme example, cuz I went raged on one rammer till point of dfn, but still, safety rank just changes too often and too easily.
I remember T10 stated in one of last updates that divers rated D, E are not going to race other drivers with better safety ranking. However there no way to check if this kind of split is applied in matching, since the rankings are private.
One small change I would suggest is to create a weekly event open only to S rated drivers. That would be a little incentive to clean driving.
About the performance ranking, again, we can only guess how it works because of the private ranking of the opponents. I think it mostly depends on the rankings of the opponents in the lobby: the more driver with higher rankings you put behind you, the more points you gain. Likewise, you loose points when someone with lower ranking beats you. That would be not bad at all, if only people with similar rankings were put in the same lobby. Again, we can’t evaluate the difference in ranking about people in a lobby, but we see sometimes a large gap in performance.
That said, I’m not disappointed of the current matchmaking. I’m currently on 4800/S ranking. In many races I race against drivers with similar performance and quite clean, specially if I’m able to qualify close to the top of the grid and to survive the first two or three corners of the race. There are bad races with bad drivers sometimes, but nothing that bothers me too much.
Of course a very easy improvement would be to make public player statistics and ranking, for both player and opponents. I suspect that T10 will never do it because it would highlight large gaps in ranking between the players of a lobby. It would be one more reason to complain about the matchmaking system.
I’ve met people online using Group C cars in the current Endurance Series that would (seemingly) struggle with a bone stock MX5/Miata Cup Car. It’s pretty crazy that anybody can jump in one of those cars… A licence system would be appreciated.
Other people thought about it:
Also think the Safety Rating should be linked to a category of group of categories. I’m currently S4997 but I mostly play GT2/GT3 and Touring Cars, yet I think I’d be a moving chicane in X class so I don’t go there. Even in GT I’m far from a top player.
