Absolute downgrade, compare tarmac texture to this first showing

Remember this video guys? Take a look at that tarmac on track and in the pits and then compare it with what we have in game on highest settings, it looks nothing like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qZRgVD_niU&t=91s
So do the car models in terms of shaders, reflections etc. The max res textures in the game are at least 30-40% worse. And if the youtubecompression video looks way better then thats scary.
And its of course with the hd textures pack installed. Now, i wonder if what i have in game on max settings is that HD texture pack, i really dont wanna know how the non-hd textures must look like…
And its funny because at the time i did not really think that video looked that special. And now the game ends up looking worse. Man… xD

Forza Motorsport, which I opened with great excitement, made me feel what a Downgerade it was, even in the first race. Why did they do such a thing. Unfortunately, the things they show and boast so much about are not in the latest game. I’m disappointed.
I play the game on the PC with RTX 4090 but am totally disappointed with the results of graphics and detail levels on the racetrack that Forza gives us.

Indeed, after 6 years i was ready to be blown away by their “next gen built from the ground up game”. But instead we really got a pretty sorry product folks.
Now, i can see the potential, but if you shill out a full price (or even 99$ for the early access (turns out its also an early access broken build too)) then you expect a fully functioning game. If they would offer the game at 29,99 and then you are paying over time up to 99$ just like they build and fix the game over time, now, with that i would be actually okay! Let’s do it this way then!
Because what i can see emerging in the gaming landscape is Live Game Development as a Service.

yeah things are low resolution or just old technology like the splashes raised from cars in wet weather brought me straight back memories from Toca Race Driver

I am open to the possibility that the dynamic thing is trying to downgrade visuals to cope with my weak cpu (preformance monitor shows cpu at 80% usage and gpu at 40%), I didn’t have time yet to mess with the advanced menu

but still. no splash is better than that thing we get in game.

yeah instead of being actual volumetric stuff its just 2D sprites one after the other, you can see how they clip into the ground, quite distracting and can’t unsee it once noticed. They used the same technique with FM7. Reused from the ground up.

Such a huge step back from the reveal in so many area’s. Don’t get why they’re getting away with it when most other studios don’t. Looks like they essentially built the game for a decent spec PC then had to throw everything away for it to run on the consoles. So tired of consoles, especially Xbox, holding back gaming.

I wish every time i went to the main menu to either upgrade, tune, or paint my vehicle it wouldnt default to that stupid cadillac race car. When i want to upgrade or paint i have to reselect the car i was just racing with every time.

FM7 got this right where the last car you were using was at the main menu/home. Chances are that you will be using the last car you selected. Not that cadillac race car. Seeing it in my home is pis$$ng me off at this point.

This game has many issues. The psysics are a great improvement. Penalty system is alright.

Most other things are a mixed bag. Sometimes the graphics are great. Othertimes textures look pretty last gen and overall visual presentation can look pretty washed out. Menus are a step back and PI allowed for multiplayer events is unclear.

The main menu cadillac always being there is most frustrating to me though

I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out that the 6 years were absolute development hell and they restarded everyhing about 2 years ago. This game does not feel like a game that had 6 years of development

Game does not even save the buttons i map on my steering wheel. Every time i start the game the settings are changed. Like…what is going on there

Indeed. The visuals and content that is there definitely does not look like 5-6 years of development. This is mostly a retextured FM7 with new physics (i actually give them that, the physics are better and the wheel feel is also better if you dial it in, that i give them) and better looking vegetation. I am pretty sure you can make this game given all their reused assets and models and whatnot in 3 years with a big enough team and good outsourcing.

Was Turn 10 gezeigt bzw uns prezensiert hat aber was haben wir denn bekommen! Bugs! ziemlich viel. Ein tolles Racing Spiel aber schon Downgraded usw.
Hier ist auch noch einen Link was ich heute beim Rennen erlebt habe. Das ist nur eins von vielen Bugs die mich sständig beim Rennen stört.

when you go to view your cars, there is an option to add that car to the car bay. this will replace the Cadillac with whatever car you choose

Yep, that appears to be the case. Didn’t they showcase all the pre-launch stuff on a 4090 maxed out PC or something?

I think they have traditionally done that for marketing. We usually get a watered down version but the visual inconsistencies are too apparent this time. I’m hoping for a patch soon. I think it will come.

Cant act like its the consoles man. Xbox and playstation have had wayyyy better looking games than this. On older hardware too. Its not the consoles its the developers. Look at forza 7 on xbox one x. Theres no reason for this game to be looking as bad as it does and run so poorly. And im sure everyone can agree on that. And before anybody gets on my case saying ohhh its supposed to look realistic and the colors are that way for a reason. Skip that then. The detail is sub par. Rain looks bad in comparison to PAST GAMES. Everything has some kind of filter on it. Trees are not 3d bruh its a branch with more 2d sprites. Cars look and sound like forza 7s. Worse in alot of cases imo. Paint is plastic. And the lighting and clouds look like something id look at on a 360 game. No detail, no soul, and lies and deception have made this game what it is today. What a shame “Dug from the ground down”:headstone:

Like you, that’s how I feel too. But apparently that’s not so important to everyone. I showed these two excerpts in the thread I keep playing Forza Motorsport 2023 because - #40 by SchorschG. But no one sees a difference. Tufts of grass on the side of the road or just a green mush - who cares.

This is absolutely shameful. Track textures looked better in FM 5.:neutral_face:

Forget about FM5 because things have changed so much over the years , even the last installment 7 looks better and you just have to ask (if on PC) what exactly was in the track textures pack which was an extra selection for downloading back at launch in October 23?

Since nobody from the development side will answer this I’ll take a guess, it’s all to do with Ray Tracing. So if you don’t or can’t have RT running the track surface looks rather average at best

Sure it’s not english, but the menus are the same you will figure it out.

Now I’m genuinly interested. What is this track texture pack you speak of? I don’t remember seeing anything like that on the Steam store.

EDIT: Found a discussion on the Steam Forum where others have discovered that the Steam version and the Windows store version with the HD Texture pack have the same file size. This pack is already built into the Steam version.
