A700 C.7 Help (Getting trashed in the Lobbies) Need to fight back!

Hello,
im a long time lurker on these forums and i post very sporadically but i have been a regular on the A (Forza5) and S (Forza 4) multiplayer lobbies and im usually decent at it. In the last few days since the release of the Corvette C.7 i have been getting my ass handed to me occasionally and so i decided to tune my own C7. Apparently this is no straightforward endeavor thanks to the cars gearing characteristics. As a result after 2 nights from 6pm to 2am trying to tune this car and not getting a better time than my Aston Martin on the tracks i was beaten on (Spa, Indy) i have no other option but to come to the experts cap in hand and beg for assistance. So i have a few questions.

Gearing
In stock form 4th gear appears to be too low on the powerband. Am i mistaken or did i just have the rest of the build wrong? If i really do need to address the gearing to make this car competitive can i manage with sport or do i have to go to race (The pi cost looks very high for the race one).

After much trial and error with the sport gearbox and jacking it right up so that third gear was being used to take slow corners the best time i managed was 1.53.4 on Cat with the sport gearbox. This time for me is disappointing so i am assuming i must be doing something wrong.

Ill post the build and tune i am currently working with when i get home.

I am able to occasionally get into the 1.24’s in spa and apparently the guy in the C7 is able to regularly get into it while the guy that trounced me at indy was able to do a 1.25 while i was standing still at 1.26.9

I am ok at tuning suspensions and getting grip i just feel i am completely at sea trying to tune suspension + gearing and its not only straightforward gearing … its weird gearing.

If any of the experts can help me that would be great.

Thanks

The build is the most important part, so, post it – along with your tune-- and feedback will be provided.

As far as the build…

This is another setup option:
Engine = Sport exhaust (versus Race Air)
P&H = SAME
Drivetrain = STOCK Transmission, RACE Driveline, RACE Diff
Tires & Rims = go with widest tires F & R, and, you can increase rear rim size to 21"
Aero = Hennessy front bumper and rear wing, NO side skirt (yet, you can use it for a little more speed at expense of some added weight)

This will give you the following stats: 7.8 / 5.8 / 8.9 / 8.9 / 6.1 (a little less handling and more speed than your build).

You might want to test this out.

*** Forgot to mention, you can also put on the all-aero plus side skirt, just modify the rim (weight exchange). This will get you to 7.2 / 5.9 / 8.9 / 8.9 / 6.4 stats.

Me personally i would drop the cars handling to no higher than a 5.7… I like power and this car has a good gearbox if u can give it the power to push it. Handling isn’t to shabby either.

I know what you mean … i just tuned my 95 nsx and it handles like a dream at 5.6 handling …

going to do an entire revamp …of the builds without forza aero … i think that was the problem why 4th felt like a dog leg.

You can try going to the RACE exhaust, then, change brakes to SPORT. Use all the Hennessy parts. This should yield stats as: 7.8 / 5.7 / 9.0 / 8.9 / 6.0…

472 hp, 477 lb-ft, 2713 lbs (49%)

Testing right now! (I am not a good driver though, lol)

When you said Hennessy front bumper i just realized that i had completely overlooked that option…

Ill be going over the build again tonight …but thanks for mentioning the alternate builds i totally didnt see there was alternate front and rear aero !!

Thanks much ill let you know how it turns out!!

Ok heres an update.

Apparently the standard transmission is fine… Luckily for me i had saved a replay of a very close race which i barely won against a C.7 Considering i am so used to gearing down before cornering i never thought about the possibility of just holding third through most of the corners and letting the torque do its thing. So as it stands i am now matching my Aston tune on indy with 1.26.9’s and im about a second off my best at spa with the Aston doing 1.24.xx and the Corvette now doing 1.25’s .

The guy who trounced me at spa got in the 1.23’s so there is alot of work to do.

I started to find more time by adding camber so now i am at 2.4 / 2.3 with max caster. Im starting to wonder what the limit is.

Depending on the track (of course!), I would go with a higher camber. For Indy GP, I was using -3.3/-2.8 Test a couple of variation of the camber. Not sure if I would go max caster, yet, it’s a “feel” thing. Figure out the right combo. I would still look at a different (more aggressive) build since it seem you can drive pretty well. Good luck!

I stuck with max caster because while turning the front wheels you do get a few points of extra negative camber without having to have it there permanently to screw up your stopping power. Works a treat at the final high speed bend at Indy GP.

I cheated a bit and took a look at a C7 replay at Spa from Rivals … The build that was used has full aero and considering your in a high speed corner most of the time it does make sense that it is required. Im down to 125.1 in Spa and the guy who got in the 123.4 had TCS on … (Im not really feeling that) .

So build wise we know they are using Full aero and the stock trans (You learn something every day. I thought that trans was as useless as a three dollar bill) . The question is are they going max tire width or giving up 1 level of tire width for a little extra power?

Great job on time improvements Maxisone! Yeah, looking at the replays is a good idea to get some tips on what others are doing. You can pick up aero, rims, cage, etc…

As far as the build, you can still play around with a couple of options. So, stick with the stock trans, aero and tires (may swap), then, swap engine parts (look at higher contribution for torque) till you increase power yet keep handling in your comfort zone.

Build I would use for Spa;
Engine: Race [Exhaust / Intake Manifold and Throttle Body]
Platform and Handling: All Race Except Stock Roll Cage
Drivetrain: Sport [Driveline] / Race [Differential]
Tyres and Rims: Race [Tyre Compound] / Rear Tyre Width [305/30R20] / Rim Style: Sport Rim Style [Gram Lights: 57 OPTIMISE]
Aero and Appearance: Race [Front Bumper / Rear Wing] / Street [Hennessy Side Skirts]

Stats: 7.3 / 5.8 / 9.0 / 8.8 / 6.2 — 485 bhp / 490 lb-ft / 2670 lbs / 49% / 6.2 L

Hope the build helps you, enjoy!
RR

Ill try that build today.

As for Indy … the 1.25.xx C7 belonged to … ECT loco Bug … hmm thats a very big hill to climb … in any case that C7 had Hennessy front splitter for pace on the straights and Forza rear wing for the corners so the builds will have to diverge at this point.

So from the looks of it i was able to get with just one build 1.26.9 on indy and a 1.24.8 at spa. I would just call this a decent general lobby build at this point that will win races 90% of the time until track tuners arrive on the scene. Need to get specialized going forward for that extra second.

When you take the last two turns and are heading down the banked straight hold 4th until just before you get to where the track is flat again near the start/finish line. Shifting up correctly there is worth a second. Also to really maximize your time I would use the front race splitter and maybe turn the down force down some. That car has a few tenths left i it. With a better build it’s a top 100 lobby car.

Why are you over looking the possibility that it was much less the car and much more the driver?

Sure a good tune build is good. But it could have been a driver that was very good and used the car to handicap themself?

???

If he’s not a great driver, as long as the car build and/or tune is good, at least he’ll be getting the most out of his skill.

Thanks for the Tips Loco … ill take a look at that tonight!

As for the build you posted roadrunner. Heres my tune for it so far.

-3.1 / -2.9
0 toe
7 caster

ARB
17.10
17.90

springs
641.2
648.2
Ride height=Slammed

Damping
rebound 10.2 /10.3
bump 4.3/4.4

Aero= maxed

Diff
Accel 55
Decel 27

Car feels great grip wise but considering i have to take those esses at the end of the spa straight before the downhill perfectly i think the car has a touch too much understeer for me to make up time. A good second can be gained or lost right there in those esses. I could go fiddle with the ARB some more but i don’t want to throw off corner entry and especially corner exit .

I think the build has potential if tuned properly because it is cornering very nicely in some corners yet understeers a bit in some very crucial corners.
Any advice ?

BTW thanks a lot for opening my eyes to exploring the possibility of not matching the tyres. It took me a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how the hell i was 3 pounds overweight and had an extra 5 pi ! LOL.

You have to remember Maxisone, 1 second + more will most likely come down to driver skill rather than build and/or tune.
As for the build I posted, it’s the build I would personally use but everyone has there own style.
Also, a build don’t have oversteer and/or understeer. What you tune will cause that hence, why tuning is needed to get the maximum potential out of a car.
The build for a car is changed due to the environment it is used in,
Example, in A Class;

  • Indianapolis you need around a handling of 5.6 - 5.7 (Minimum for a Front Engine RWD)
  • Spa you need a handling of around 5.8 - 5.9 (Minimum for a Front Engine RWD)
By this, I mean think about what you want the car for… what track.
You say Spa, but your testing the car on Indy as well which requires a different spec.
