so i have been a Forza fan since Forza 4, and i really enjoy the horizon series, especially in Forza Horizon2 when i go through tunnels and downshift with my C63 Black Series, the sound is just amazing !
and so far, i loved everything about the new Forza Horizon 3 demo, except that one of the things i enjoyed while playing in FH2 is not in the demo, which is the downshift sound, there is NO downshift sound at all, and i was kinda shocked when is saw literally no one talking about this …
so what do you guys think? for me, i hope that the developers notice this issue and solve it with the full release …
( sorry for my English, its not my native language)
i would have never known English is not your native language if you didnt say so but i never actually noticed but hopefully it will be fixed in a patch or for the full release or something i cant imagine that if there is no downshift sound that it will stay that way
It could be your sound settings. Sometimes on games if you’ve got it set to 7.1 and your TV is stereo you could lose some channels and if they’ve set certain sounds to those channels you’ll not hear them. I’ve noticed this on a few games recently. Not sure why they do it as all sounds should come through all channels at different volumes but sometimes they’re tied to one channel probably for performance reasons. If you change the audio settings in game or in settings/sounds on your xbox see if it comes back.
I noticed the same thing as the downshifts are almost silent but then a few moments later when i changed my car they were back! It seems to come and go on it’s own. Definitely needs to be patched!
Do you mean actual downshift like clicking sound of shifting or throttle blipping sound from a heel toe downshift. Im not sure if horizon does rev matching, i know motorsport does with manual but not manual w/clutch.
I went back and checked my audio setting, they are fine, also used my 5.1 astros, still no downshift sound
what i meant is " throttle blipping sound from a heel toe downshift" i guess, when i downshift in Forza Horizon2 lets say from the 3rd gear on a high rev to the second gear the car produces a beast sound while the RPM goes down, i liked doing that a lot especially on the tunnel located in the Highway in FH2, especially in a shelby or an AMG
I just checked, it does blip the throttle when using manual not manual with clutch just like motorsport. Ill agree that its not very pronounced. If you’re using the cockpit view the sounds are very muffled so maybe check an outside view. It could also be that none of these cars have the right parts to really make a more pronounced sound like if they dont have a race exhaust or something.
Just use manual w/clutch and make your own downshift rev blipping. The sounds aren’t as brutal nowadays as they were on Forza 4, so I guess they made all the ‘less important’ noises a bit quieter. I loved the rev stuttering when shifting on cars like the F40 Competizione, but sadly that sort of thing has drifted away.
Well, I do hear the bark and raspiness in downshifting sounds. When the game is going through the first two scripted races, where you can’t turn off the radio, you won’t hear the engines properly.
What bothers me however, are the somewhat weak off-throttle sounds. Maybe this is just a demo thing, because the off-throttle sounds are clearly audible and immensely satisfying to hear in both Horizon 1 and 2. Not that it’s completely relevant, but they are also good in FM6.
Dramatic improvements in the way cars sound. Love it. Downshifts are definitely there, but off-throttle sounds need to be prominent and clearly audible. That’s when some of the car’s character and soul really shows.
Lol Horizon 2 has by far the worst sounds of the Forza series, extremely weak and basic imo. Forza 6 still has the best sounds, Horizon 3 is close but still not quite as brutal for some cars such as the M4. The off throttle sounds are significantly toned down with the M4 in H3 as oppose to Forza 6 unfortunately.
Wow… you really think so Waseem? IMO, the pitch, tone and character of car engines and exhausts, particularly off-throttle is better captured in Horizon 2. Yes, they do sound a bit quiet, but only in contrast to the FM games. Open world setting and all - a lot going on, I can imagine why the devs took this approach. If you’re playing F6 at say, 40-55% volume to enjoy the car sounds, Horizon has to be kept at 65% or above to enjoy the same… but it’s all there: the change in pitch and tone… the bass and rumble.
Just turn up your sound system mate! Won’t have the same brutal feel as the FM games though.
Err… pardon the off-topic guys.
Anyhow, I’m sure PG will be making refinements to the game over its course. Please Sept 27, why oh why won’t you arrive sooner? chuckles
Game sounds fine to me, too loud, in fact- I was trying to chat in a party while driving, and had to set all volume sliders to 1, turn off the radio, AND set my party vs. game audio mix (a feature on the controller & headset I use) to 80% party to hear them.
Try wearing good headphones if you’re just using TV speakers, and also try using chase or bumper cam as cockpit view muffles engine sounds.
its not about the sounds it self, its about when you go from lets say 3rd gear on a high rev to second gear, the car produces a sound because of high RPM, the sound is usually amazing if using cars with big engines, in FH3 there is no sound at all, i tried all of the 4 cars + the Centenario, no downshift sound at all
I think they should let PG do their own sound mix insted of using existing forza sounds. rembered how pgr sounded for the time. every release from forza 5 and up has had sound issues bothers the hell out of me horizon 2 sounded great but exhuast upgrades did not do a thing. alot of people don’t notice these issues but if your a car sound nut like me you will notice that something is a miss with the sound.
Thank you for the link ! in 0:34 thats what i meant, when he downshifted there was this ROAR sound, i was afraid that the downshfit sound is not going to be on the full release, but your link just proved that wrong. maybe it was just glitched out in the demo, anyways, thanks!
