A little bit of advice needed.

Hi everyone, Im NEO SEAN , on xbox one, be good to know if i’ve raced anyone before,

Just a little bit of help needed, i would consider myself above average been at number one on Alps festival full circuit for 2 weeks before in s class ( my biggest achievement )
im a really competitive person, and willing to do hours on end to get to number one. when i’m not at work. . i’m just asking the question what does it take to be number one?

i use manual with clutch, and sim steering, and abs off. i picked it up pretty fast. i used to play 1nsane for the PC , Back in the day. i use other peoples tunes, i know the good ones, more info would help.

so a couple of questions .

Does having a steering wheel set-up help?
Does Trail braking help your lap times?
Does knowing the track/watching rivel replys help?

Im normally about 2 to 4 seconds off number 1, How could i improve?

Really appreciate your input. just need to find ways to improve.

Awesome hand eye coordination is a pretty huge advantage. After that practice, watch replays of faster times, practice, tune, practice, sleep, practice, eat, practice, than practice, and above all else practice.

Hey NASidney, would you say that it’s better to start racing with a group of knowledgeable racers or to run hotlaps until you reach your limits on a given track? I only have one top 500 lap time, and I’ve played the game quite a bit, but mostly in career when I first got the game, and hotlapping since then. I haven’t done much of the multiplayer because I’d like clean racing, but I’m not quite up to snuff to join really competitive group yet.

Do both. Knowledgeable racers are glad to point you in the right direction and it will help you develop your race craft, but hot lapping is your way up the leaderboards. Race craft and hot lapping being two different monsters. Hot lapping will give you the knowledge of the track like the back of your hand, but until you learn how to race others and adjust to the moving chicanes without knocking them out of your way, you are not racing. Plus between racing and rivals you will get to see how fast others take a turn. You can see their break point, their turn in, their apex, and their turn out. Witch will be different for each car and each tune.

as for leaderboards. Go into rivals pick your car class and track, press the y buttons to see the people in front of you. Pick someone a half second faster or less, set them as your rival. Than lap. When you beat them, do it again set another rival that is a half second faster, and again until you can’t seem to get any higher. At that point you may need to switch cars, or tune your car, or take a break and come back at it fresh later.

these forums offer a fantastic community. do a search, there are plenty of post on tuning, but in the end you will have to set the car up based on your preference. Communities like xbox pro league racing and TORA are helpful too.

Hi There … im no pro either but i would say a mixture of both with more emphasis on hotlapping. Also keep in mind that most if not all of the fast drivers build their own tunes so the car is set up for their preferences.

My experience is to pound pavement (Hotlap) until your eyes hurt or your hands start to spasm  I usually do this during tuning my cars …The more you know the corners of the track your working on the better you can anticipate the corner and get your car set up correctly for the track… Then after knowing the track nd being comfortable with the car then check out rivals to see how the pros take the corners for maximum laptime.

I dont particularly like rivals much as i prefer multiplayer general lobby racing. I try to race clean to the front then hotlap to set my best leader board times once in front which range from top 100 to 1000 in A class depending on the track.
Maybe i would get faster doing rivals but meh … i just want to be in the top 300 or so in an all purpose multiplayer tune rather than go all out chasing rivals.

Racing with fast people is nice but mainly a lot of the fast people on here are open to giving advice so if u find yourself in a party with them start asking a bunch of questions

trail braking is situational. some corners it is the best way to go, some it is not.

Hotlap to learn the tracks, multiplayer race to become a better driver like learning how to pass and react to other drivers. That kind of stuff. That’s what I did and it’s seems to have worked for me so far. Watching my hotlapping times get faster and faster

Dude your like the bomb already, seen some of your leaderboard times. Keep it up

Just listen to your heart.
