Race after race I see the same things. If we all try to remember not to do them they’ll be a great deal less crashing in Forza.
Obviously brake before the turn not in it. This also includes totally not braking at all because you were not paying attention. (We all goof up from time to time.) This one is easy to do. Just brake. You will gain so much more time from taking the turn without a collision than you would from taking it too fast and hitting anything.
Re-enter the track carefully and with caution for the traffic. I see this one time and time again and even from the really fast guys. It sucks if you get knocked off. It’s aggravating when it wasn’t your fault and it’s more than aggravating if you got pushed off deliberately. It doesn’t matter. Once you are off the track, you are not entitled to a line. Everyone on the track has right of way. The onus is on you to reenter carefully and no one needs to slow for you so don’t expect. But appreciate it if people do. It’s unfair if you got bashed off but it’s irrelevant. When you are not on the track clean re-entry is your responsibility. And you will most often recover much more quickly if you don’t get involved in a second collision from reentering without care or jutting onto the track and all the way across it. If a collision happens during this time it is entirely and wholly your fault. This is just like merging into traffic on a highway. (Though obviously Pennsylvanians can’t do this. I kid. I kid.) Doing this alone would probably reduce the number of collisions by half.
edit* This includes cutting corners. If you have 4 wheels off the track you are not entitled to a line. You might have done it to maintain speed but you are no longer entitled to any line. If you re-enter and get hit the fault is entirely yours.
Do not treat the race line as the only path. Or if you don’t use it as I don’t, your preferred line. If you can choose a line and stick to it within the rules of racing ettiquette you’re golden. But if you go into a corner too fast and slide out of your line or brake too hard and fall too low into a corner, you have surrendered your preferred line. And chances are in traffic the hole you created by vacating that line will have been filled. If, within the rules of racing ettiquette, you contact someone attempting to get back to “the” line after sliding out or falling off the collision is again your fault. Not the guy who saw the opening and filled it while you were recovering.
Side by side in corners. This happens and both of you must give the other room to corner. Translation? You do not get to apex the corner(s) like you’re the only one in the corner. If you do the collision is your fault. Again this is within the rules of racing ettiquette. If you don’t know them there are myriad places to look them up. But if you’re door to door or door to fender with another racer you must both allow for the other car. If you try to apex a turn with a car on your door without leaving him room too the contact is your fault, at least if he’s on your door before you started the turn. If he lunges you while you’re turning he’s at fault.
Do not drive like the other cars are drivatars. If you approach lobbies like you do career mode you’re going to have a bad time. You will probably be yelled at, blocked, reported, and crashed. If you want to punt drivatars out of your way in offline modes have at it. But in lobbies they’re other people who are not bound by the laws of the algorithyms used to create them.
Watch your mirrors. Admittedly this takes some practice but just like driving a real car in the real world it is supremely important to know what is around you. Otherwise you can cause a serious collision and to the other guy you look like you did it on purpose.
Also with the advent of this new update, everytime you get reported your reptuation will do down. I’ve already encountered 2 people with “needs work” reputations. This new update will ensure that people with bad reptuation levels do not get into any party with people with good reputation levels. This is not a T10 thing. This is an xbox global thing. So everytime you hit someone you risk only finding lobbies with worse and worse drivers.
Forever…
And not just in Forza. BF4, CoD, Titanfall, Project CARS etc… Think about that.
Seriously lets do what we can to reduce the crashes. These are simply things that really don’t require any type of high skill just a responsible approach. Even beginners can do all of them.
If we can all do these things there would be a great deal less collisions in the lobbies.
U r so right!! And i totaly agree with everything…
But u know people WHO crash they even dont know
This forum exist and they dont read it and they dont care… So its Very sad
Every day more people stumble in here. All we can do is try to spread this information. Some will always be ignorant. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to spread the word.
Agree, , This is Very good thread, and u r doing right and Very good thing… I supose i have givin up public hoper lobbys … Its sad But its The way it is right now
… For now i hope t10 Will add collision off for R class
Its my fav class… I rather race collision off instead of beeing crasched in every corner:(
Your solution is possibly the stupidest I’ve heard… You won’t get any more people to race clean by complaining about it on some forums.
Instead of complaining find some people that are willing to race clean and add them. Then, you get them together and have a race of your own with hopefully clean drivers in a private lobby.
Get a load of randies into a private lobby and turn collisions off.
Don’t bother with online
Those are my solutions and they are at least 99% effective.
Sadly…like the guy up the thread said…most of the deliberate wreckers will never ever come here and don’t even care about the etiquette of racing . Their only goal in online lobbies is to wreck others trying to make good lap times and win. Perfect example from last night. I was in a lobby and racing clean as can be. I got tripped up in the second corner by this guy who also caused 5-6 other cars in that corner to spin. Later in the race that same guy caught up to me in a corner…slammed me off the track…and just said “bitch” and was so proud of his accomplishment. The people doing the wrecking take pride in their work and do not have any issue telling you the you are a bitch and beneath them.
Only thing you can do is vote to kick and get the entire lobby to join you and report to Xbox. Although…don’t tell them you are reporting them…as I did the other night and have the wrecker come back and say they reported you as well. Another reason why this type of policing never really works.
This thread really isn’t about intentional wreckers. This is about people who genuinely are trying to race but don’t know some simple rules of the road.
Never tell someone you’re reporting them. Just block, report and move on.
But if we can educate some more drivers more lobbies will be better
I’ve recently found the V8 supercar hopper and it has been super clean. Part of the reason is the skill in there and the grip those cars have but a big one is consistent braking points. It’s always a fun surprise when the guy in front of u turns out to have a brake point 100 feet sooner than yours.
Every clean racer already knows those rules. The problem wont be solved without a safety rating system like IRacing is providing.
We need something that will hurt extreme crashers.
We need a public place for drivers who just want to have fun and mistakes are no problem.
And a more serious area, where people can only move into higher classes, when they have a good safety rating.
Why not change the current level system. To a system which which only gives points for clean racing and finished races.
It could easily be build around the perfomance index rating for the car classes. You start with your level at D and need to drive clean for reaching higher classes.
A bit like a license system like GT or IRacing. Of course there will be people who want to jump into higher classes right away. But those can just drive in the lobbies where the safety rating system ist not active. That means that we have normal Forza lobbies and lobbies with the safety rating. Nobody would be left out and everbody would get the most out of the game.
Your first statement is both right and wrong.
Right because good clean racers know all these things.
Wrong because some people think they are good clean racers and do half of the things McG listed.
Everybody is guilty of mistakes. Every single player. But if we can get the word out and raise peoples awareness of good racing etiquette then this is a win.
I agree with everything here. I don’t go on the multiplayer other than our own race series because I’m tired of people using my car as a brake. I did manage to find some great people to start a racing series in s class though. We try to keep it clean and its so much fun. Its an endurance series with 30 laps per race. Message me if your interested.
Everything the OP says is good advice - unfortunately there is nothing you can do about the 50% of online players that simply do not care and have no respect for other gamers. I’m officially done with the hoppers. I have not had ONE race, and I mean one, where every car gets round the first corner without a mass pileup. If you’re first on the grid, you’re screwed. Why Turn 10 can’t address this issue is beyond me. Even just making a lobby called “clean racing” would at least attract people with the same mindset. Sure, you’d get the odd troll, but they’d quickly be kicked by voting. The hopper part of this game is unfortunately the biggest failure in online gaming in a long time. It just does not work. There needs to be many more matchmaking options. Plus I’m not sure what this “Smart Match” is actually doing. I get top 5% times and never ram into anyone, ergo I get matched with people who can’t finish a lap and whose main goal is to shunt everyone else into the sand at every opportunity.
So if anyone here wants to add me for some clean races, please feel free!
