60 FPS An open discussion

i dont know you and i dont care who you are but you are overstepping your limits. Watch your mouth or bugger off. Ok ? im not a child and you cant talk to me like that stop insisting and criticising me. There are too much words to say to you but this community has rules and there are children here so dont push me.

Wow, if I didn’t think you were in middle school before, this would have removed all doubt. No one but a 13-year-old talks likes this, and usually it happens before life dropkicks them right in the teeth.

I’m ok with 60 hz for all in multiplayer, it’s fair.

It’s even simpler than that…
T10 could simply do the right thing and fix the bug causing the issue…
Don’t hear of other racing games with this issue do you?
Why then does Forza?
Sheer lack of interest in resolving a fundamental flaw.
Opting to lose a large chunk of gamers MORE than willing to spend oodles of money on their hobby instead favouring bargain basement gamers who have yet to realise they were and are getting robbed and lied to about the capabilities of the hardware they’re being sold as a 4K console…
Oh it IS a 4K console just at varying low to mid level gfx settings, regularly dipping below 1600p resolution (or as low as 1440p or even 1080p) that gets upscaled to 4K
Same hardware as you’d find in even an entry level “gaming PC”…
Yet even such an entry level gaming PC could maintain a fixed gfx fidelity AND hit 60fps @ 4K native…
Why else are there console fools spouting tripe like “you need to spend $3000 to match the XSX performance!”
Really? Then MS would sell them for $3000 or more!
They like every other business only care about the contents of your wallett and how much they can get out of it for as little effort to them…
Which will cost MS T10 more?
Not fixing a bug thus securing the sales and pre orders from those who’ve cancelled pre-orders or refuse to buy “compromised quality games” those same PC owners of the 168 million gpus sold since XSX launched, the 55 million PC’s sold in Q1 of 2023 alone plus, potentially losing those customers for good? Or…
Pandering to the 21 million owners of their PRECIIIOOUUUS box of cheapness?
EA chose just as badly, refusing to listen to their fans, losing over 90% of players in BF2042, Paying 1.2 billion for codemashers a (company with equally horrific disdain for their fans) and as a result of their ignorance have been DESPERATELY trying to sell to Apple, Amazon, Comcast, Paramount, Disney etc…
They all said “Get tae …!”

…This sounds like the rant of a person who took a loan out that they probably shouldn’t have. I don’t really know what else to say. Do you realize that Battlefield 2042 didn’t fail because they ignored PC players, it failed because they ignored all of the players and sent out a blatantly unfinished product? That game was equal-opportunity incomplete; it didn’t matter if you had a PC, Playstation, XBox, or membership to an internet cafe.

Let’s not forget the fact that BF2042 got outcompeted and undercut by it’s own previous entries.

… and then Battlebit came along to really drive home everything wrong with the franchise. Drifting off topic a bit mentioning that though.

I don’t think Xbox will beg you for not paying a month of Game Pass…

You can race GT7 online even with VR. FM on the other hand is subject to T10’s frivolities.

I’m not necessarily keen on the idea, but I do give props to T-10 for at least trying to balance some thing, or at least making a concerted effort in such. Between this and the “fix” to the manual/w clutch thing, it’s a step (albeit a small one) in the right direction.

I think that locking the MP mode to 60 fps “to ensure fairness” is a bad move because it basically caters to the least powerful machine in the lineup, meaning the Series S. Meaning people who spent their hard earned money on good and capable hardware (PC and Series X) get shown the middle finger. And its weird too because, does the Series X not pride itself as being the most powerful console? And does it not do advertising with these 120hz and vrr? And now its being locked away for one of the most crucial parts of a racing game? Thats a bad look.
Even Gran Turismo 7 has a 120hz mode and they don’t cater to the PS4 players by locking the game to 60fps. Plus: Having Gamepad and Wheel/pedals gamers you could argue is giving the Wheel users a bigger advantage than the 60 vs 120fps. Yet for some reason having wheel vs gamepad players is totally ok. Having 120fps vs 60fps is not ok? Another example would be first person shooter games. Call of Duty is crossplatform and even crossgen and it allows whatever hardware and input device you can throw at the game. There are no restrictions “to ensure fairness”. Why? Because it simply lets people use the input device and hardware they paid money for and its not artificially crippling anybody.

My hope is that this 60fps lock is only temporary until FM brings a Series X patch that will enable a 120hz performance mode. Just like GT7 came later with their 120hz mode. And then the MP hopefully will allow for unrestricted fps. Because honestly, as a PC gamer who has not played 60fps in at least six years, its just jarring to have to look at a fast paced game at 60fps. It just is. Its not elitism, its not PC master race, none of that. It simply is the case that once you get used to it, you simply can’t go back. Every gamer who has played high refresh for an extended amount of time and then tried to get back to 60 will confirm this.

I do expect 120 simply because its literally a big marketing point for the Series X and because a modern racing game on closed circuits should be able to offer this. Its also the reason why GT7 (despite saying also “the target is 60”) made it possible and offered actually three higher refresh rate modes.

That’s 30 more fps than I expect or need in any mode.

And thats totally fine. But other people have different needs and if the hardware is able to support it then its for me a faceslap if the devs don’t allow it.

Nah. I know from experience that I can’t consciously tell the difference between a smooth 30 and a smooth 60 or higher framerate. If it’s not smooth, then it might take a larger drop at higher framerates for me to notice the drop.

then we just have a very different perception thats all.
because i for example can exactly tell the difference between 30, 60, 120, 160, 240hz.
it does not take any effort to identify which fps i am looking at.

It has already been officially stated that the MP will be locked 60 for all platforms but on PC the singleplayer will have unlocked framerate indeed. At least something.

60hz is fairly enough for racing game. We are not playing Call of duty in multiplayer mode. Are you aware of 4k 120hz or 144hz monitor prices for pc.
