2.4 Hours of the Ring Legal car question .

PTG Claret- when you entered the hopper everyone that was waiting to race while a race was going on was put in R (GT) class cars. However, once the race was over, the hopper would assign users randomly to R or P class once the voting took place. It seemed to me to be based solely on when you entered the lobby and any players staying in the lobby from the previous race were switched to the opposite class. So even if you get into the lobby and are put in R class, you have to wait until the current race ends to discover what you’ll actually be racing.

i think with the Le Mans hopper if you got in early then the P class cars get assigned, after they are gone, then you had no choice but to pick the R class.

The way I saw it, and I’m not saying this is how it was done, was that when the race ended everyone who ran and finished in GT was put in P class. Then when other drivers of the race that was just ran left, some of the next racers were put in P class cars. I was, and debated on giving it a go but over 5 hours was a bit much for me!

the first hopper I went in was when the lobby just opened and I was like the 3rd person in and it let me choose P class (unfortunately I had to go 20mins in and I was leading it) but each time I tried thereafter (about 15 attemps and same again the following day) it only gave me R class option on a partial full lobby that was already in progress … and as each session always had ages to go I just kept on re-trying, in the end I gave up as it got too late.

Did one lap in my aston martin and ran a 8:43 (dirty) from grass -_-

So overall i think i have a good shot at completing this challenge

That’s how it worked for me. Put to R for selection every time, stayed in R through the whole wait and countdown, then found myself in a P class car at the starting line. Fortunately all my Proto’s were tuned to my liking. It dropped me into my slowest, most stable car, which worked out well for me. After the race, it put me in the R car I’d selected for the just-finished race, and kept me there; the R’s that stayed were moved into P’s, and man, did they ever rock and roll

I kinda think Nurburgring is going to be one class, one body type. Le Mans has a lot more room for passing and pulling over.

Getting slower racers to pull to the right may be spotty. A lot of us will be shooting to just barely make the badge distance; I’m sure some of us will lose our manners in the struggle. I’ll be trying for both: more than any other track, I’ll view this race as “all of us against the clock” and not so much “earn a (insert favorite element/alloy here) vs the other racers”

R Class
Would the NON DLC BMW be quick enough or is the aston the better of the two

i tried no end of times in the lemans lobby but kept getting given the R class (previously got my ass handed to my by my Buddys in testing by corvettes

Long story short what R class is everyone planning to use

P class i’ll hopfully be using my audi 90

Both quick enough, as will be the Corvette and the Dodge can be made to handle pretty nice, the BMW will probably be the choice for the masses due to the extra power but ill go for the Dodge or the Aston

If the cars are GT cars i’m using the Rahal Letterman BMW for no reason other than it’s a quick way to get the achievement for running German cars on the Ring.

I was going to choose the BMW anyway. It’s fast, very stable, and easy to drive. I see a problem with slower traffic not being able to get out of the way. But also too, it may not be a big deal because I think I passed the GT cars in the Le Mans eduro slomething like 5 times. So it may not be a problem if you only catch them twice if that. I also worry about if damage is on and getting wrecked at Karrasel and having to limb back to the pits. I said before I wasn’t happy Nurburg was brought back, but after running it a few times, it is a really fun track now.

May be a dumb question, but how do you tell which cars are GT cars in F5? In F4 you could search by type, but I can’t find that in F5.

in career got to the racing group and the gt series. Go to the buy cars tile and they will show up.

I will be running the Vette so I can hopefully pull off clean passes on the straights.

I worry most about those that get in and intentionally wreck knowing the distance back to the pits is super long. Which is one of the problems we had with the LeMan race. I ended up doing the event 4 times to protect friends and club members from such things.

This is a concern for me as well, especially since I’m not a fan of the track and will likely have to contend with damage I inflict on myself as well. I’m also trying to find out what type/class of car needs to be used so I can get some laps in with it before the challenge starts.

Use the R class GT cars for practice. We do not know they will definieyt be it but given the real event it is likely.

This is the list:

2006 Aston Martin #007 Aston Martin Racing DBR9
2009 BMW #92 Rahal Letterman Racing M3 GT2
2011 Chevrolet #4 Corvette Racing ZR1
2011 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione F458 Italia
2013 Viper #91 SRT Motorsport GTS-R

The key is going to be all about being smooth and staying on track. If your just running for the badge and mileage then your best bet will be let everyone else go and find a gap. Run at your own pace and when in doubt slow down epically if the damage is on. One big oops could cost you 30 minutes if you damage the engine or trans and you won’t have time to make the mileage. Max out the aero and raise the ride hight up so if you do catch a curb or go off track it won’t just throw the car around. I made over 300 miles on the LeMans challenge and that was with getting wrecked by a troll in the lobby and before that I was just trying to save fuel so I didn’t have to pit as much. Let the racers race and just run at a pace your comfortable with and it shouldn’t be an issue.

Also don’t forget to watch your fuel gauge after the first or second lap and see how much your using. Pitting early is safer than running out of fuel on the backside of the track.

I agree with Rabbit0317 driving smoothly and staying on the track are key elements to getting the badge. My biggest worry is damage. I plan to start slowly and let everyone run away from me on the first lap. I hope to start in the back. That first turn will probably be interesting.

The easiest places to pass are on the GP section of the track. The problem with that is if there is an accident, it is a long way back to the pits. I really hope damage is cosmetic.

The Damage will be full simulation , otherwise you dont have too PIT too .

The best way to overtake is to communicate with the other players , and hope they are kind enough to let you pass !!

I think Forza 2 had two different settings for damage and tire wear and fuel. For damage you had the options of cosmetic or simulated. For fuel and tire wear you had none or simulated options. I liked having these two different settings.
