1960 Corvette has a mirror for windscreen

All I could see was the top of the dash and had to compete against and follow the gamer tags because I couldn’t see the cars. There are a few in the game like this with extra reflection but this one holds the No.1 spot so far.

I would really like an option to turn off the dash reflections in the windshields. The effect is way too strong in most cars. In real life these reflections are very subtle and OEMs go to great lengths to use non reflective materials to minimize this from happening because its distracting and impedes your view, just as it does in Forza. Neat “cool” rendering trick, but it just makes it harder to drive. At least reduce the translucency by 50 percent or so on all cars. Some are way worse then others that’s for sure. This was just as big as a problem in 6.

Depends on how old the car is. I doubt the same anti glare materials that are available now were available for the 60s corvette. In real life, the sun can really reduce visibility in the form of glare and reflections (less so in modern cars) i think it adds to the immersion when trying to drive into the sun and having to fight the environment for visibility as you sometimes have to irl

A lot of reflection has to do with the shap and angle of the windscreen I have driven cars as old as 1965 and tat is 2 years older than me age has all most nothing to do with the ammount of reflection and since I live in Queensland Australia we get plenty of sunlight. It is way over done on most cars some much worse than others. And should be fixed but there is a lot more things that need fixing that may take priority, Pity we can not do what we can in real life and put on a pair of Polaroid sun glasses to reduce th slight reflection we do get on windscreens.

Haven’t tried it at night yet but if it is the same I will be able to read a book while doing 20 laps of the Nuri. They might have to tone them down a bit or they end up sitting in the garage unloved and unused or in the AH on fire sale

Agree on that one, the reflections are sometimes ridiculous.

Me too, hate the reflections on the windscreen. Some cars are nearly undriveable. It’s not even realistic - in the real world your eyes are focused on the road, not the windscreen, so you don’t notice reflections. I think they’ve been added to give a superficial wow factor for the graphics. I wish it could be turned off.

As one of the other members said the reflection in the game. ie into the sun because it adds realism and drama in a close race. I would not want this aspect removed from the game. Anyone who has driven the Corvette 60 in red will only be looking at the Corvette dashboard at 100% and its reflection in the screen at about 85 - 90% trans which is a mighty overkill. Could be a Forzathon challenge - Find as many Red Micro Cars and perform good passes in 3 mins. Objective 1

My worst so far is the McLaren 12C GT3. It’s got an extremely distracting pattern reflected in the windscreen.

Does this look like a 1960s car? (let me know if you guys can’t see this image, its from my Activity Feed)

Dash Reflection Issue

If you don’t think this effect is a problem, guess what, there is a car in front of me in that photo, it is completely obscured by this effect. Cases of cars that blind this badly (usually this bad only happens at certain angles, not all the time) are not intentional, this is not by design. This is a rendering artifact, certain colors\materials and dash geometry shapes in certain lighting conditions make this happen much worse then intended. The problem is I don’t think they have much control over the system to fix the individual cars where this happens frequently. As I said above, I think the entire render effect across the board needs to be way turned down, or eliminated entirely. This is a problem I suffered with in Forza 6 and never spoke up about, (try out the Toyota 2000 GT in that game, its steering wheel reflects horribly all the time) but I think the problem is even worse now in 7 because 7 features the new dynamic weather and time of day system. It seems a lot of the races in campaign are at odd times of day now, dawn and dusk a lot, so the sun is in positions where this happens more often, and the lighting is already on the dim side so this extra effect makes visibility that much worse. I had a dusk race at Laguna Seca this weekend on a Seeker campaign race, and the reflection on my car going into turn 4 was so bad I literally had to change to the hood cam every time I came down that straight or I couldn’t make turn 4. I love Forza’s cockpit view and try to use it exclusively, but with some cars its so hard to see due to this feature (also not a big fan of the rendering filter used to make it look like you are looking thru the windshield, I find it too extreme too). At the very minimum I would like a feature to turn dash reflections off, but I think the entire effect is too strong and should be turned way down across the board (or tossed completely).

While we are on the subject of bad visibility, is there a reason the head light lighting effect can’t be used outside of the night driving events? Now with all of these dawn\dusk events, and a long standing problem, super dark tunnels, we really need headlights in certain situations. Even the in the brand new Dubai track, that tunnel is crazy dark. Rio has always had this problem (even in 6). At times I’m driving by braille here!

And yes, I just went through 7’s new TV calibration screen and turned up my TV’s brightness to the recommended setting.

This is a reflection effect, its not related to HDR. Also, my TV doesn’t support HDR, so true HDR is not on in that screen shot.

HDR lighting, not HDR colour range, it was in refrence to the dark tunnels comment.

Edit:
I agree the reflections are way overdone, in normal driving conditions (for me here in Australia) you can only see a relection where the is an object in close proximity to the windscreen ie. At the bottom of the windscreen were the top of the dash meets it. Or at the top of the windscreen were it is tinted (normally a blue strip) or if there is a dark shadow covering the windscreen. The only other time I have noticed reflections while driving is if the sun is reflecting of something in the car and bouncing it to the windscreen like the keys in the ignition.

The tunnels are dark because there are no lights in them. Tunnels like those in real life are always lit with electric lights, and if not, you at least have the option of flipping your headlights on.

Great topic. I’ll add a +1 to the reflection issues. It’s too much and puts you off when racing. If I test drove a car with reflections like that in real life, I wouldn’t be buying it that’s for sure.
