1 Like for every Dis-Like

Dear Forza Community,

As a faithful Forza fan, although I have had multiple affairs with my Japanese mistress wink, I find that there are many things I don’t like about FM5 and a few things that I do like. So, to make things interesting, I wanted to play a game where you have to name something you don’t like about FM5, and then follow up with something you do like, hopefully slightly related to a situation close to the dislike. It’ll be interesting to see if the game balances out. I’ll post the Likes and Dis-Likes here as the list grows.

Please share!

Forza Community’s FM5 Likes and Dis-Likes List!

  1. Don’t Like - Having my driver red-line the motor at the starting grid every race (I use manual w/ clutch, which used to eliminate automatic revs in previous FM titles)
Do Like - Having all the cars at the starting grid roaring adds a level of intensity to the race to come. Speaking of the race to come…

  2. Don’t Like - The demolition derby meet that occurs around the first turn of almost any circuit.
Do Like - Having played FM3 and FM4 online, I know how hectic it can get fighting for position (If anyone has watched any races around Bathurst, you know what I mean) so it adds a real aspect of competition to the formula.

  3. Don’t Like - The menu screens. Looks like the menu of a mobile racing game, where everything is scattered into tiny boxes, followed by constant reminders of micro-transactions.
Do Like - The integration of the Top Gear hosts into the menu experience.

  4. Don’t like: The Drivatar’s over aggressive rebound back onto the track after driving themselves off of it.
Do like: The Drivatar’s difficulty and more exciting racing than the old AI.

  5. Don’t like: The lack of gifting paints.
Do like: The new painting system involving the addition in carbon fiber and such paints.

  6. Don’t like: The lack of cameras from the replays that were saved.
Do like: That they brought back save replay to Multiplayer.

  7. Don’t like: Time between race end and start of next race in multiplayer, so much load out/in time sigh
Do like: I have experienced very little “lag” in multiplayer and don’t see a lot of “hopping” from others.

  8. Don’t like: No easy way to mute all in lobby / Sometimes (particularly when I first join a lobby) I can’t mute someone. (sometimes I just don’t feel like chatting or want to mute the guy in the lobby singing when I join…)
Do Like: Chat seems very clear and respectable quality

  9. Don’t like: I have yet to join a lobby/random hopper in Multiplayer and damage be on. I would much rather race with simulated damage/fuel/tire wear
Do Like: When I join freinds for races with Simulated damage on I find the racing experience a really clean, fun, enjoyable experience with superb graphics and just overall a great experience.

  10. Don’t like: The lack of content
Like: The quality of the content

  11. Don’t like: The approach towards multiplayer
    Like: The approach towards singleplayer

  12. Don’t like:Scrolling through every car in the game to get to a specific manufacturer(and you know that list is only going to get bigger)
    Like: Quality of cars

  13. Don’t Like: The missing “Car Details” information that was in FM2 - FM4 titles.
Do Like: The presence of the Dyno on every part upgrade page.

  14. Don’t Like: Being limited to searching for tunes and paints of only the car you’re in and own.
Do Like: Being able to change cars from the Paint menu.

  15. Don’t Like: Not showing what cars are already owned during purchases.
Do Like: The cars in the DLCs so far.

  16. Don’t Like: The absent fictional tracks and Suzuka.
Do Like: The new tracks, Spa & Bathurst.

  17. LIKE: Open Wheel Cars
DON’T LIKE: Lotus 49 not in FM5 yet

  18. LIKE: Drivatars
    DON’T LIKE: Drivatars too slow

  19. LIKE: Telemetry
DON’T LIKE: It is difficult to read when the number are changing so fast (got to take DVR video then watch in slow mo)

  20. LIKE: Tire Wear / Fuel Consumption
DON’T LIKE: What’s the use when the races are so short?

  21. LIKE: Impulse Triggers
    DON’T LIKE: So sensitive!

I had not noticed that! Thanks for the input!

I think I am the opposite. I do like Multiplayer’s approach, but wish that single player had a little bit more in depth of a situation. I know that racing games are hard to make good single players for. I do enjoy it however, but I wish Motorsport would take a different approach maybe towards:

You are a rookie coming in and ready to build your way up. There are other drivers who are winning championships, there is no guarantee you will be winning every race, dependent on the difficulty. No more achievements for completing gold, only for completing the campaign, win your first race, race your first race, etc. That and make it with different categories. Each long enough to enjoy your vehicle you want to and you could go back and do it all over again with different results.

So you could become a Prototype racer and the challenge is to eventually get to Le Mans and try to win the Le Mans 24 hours. They could split the 24 hours up similarly to a real life race, by changing drivers and hoping your Drivatar makes it through at a good pace. He won’t crash or anything, but he would keep pace with how you drive. So you have your first 4 hours you drive, the next 4 hours your Drivatar drive (you could skip it if you want to), then you could take a break and leave the game and come back to do another 4 hour section from where you left off, and it would keep repeating until the 24 hours are completed.

Then you could do the series all over again with GT cars, and other class cars ending with that 24 hours of Le Mans.

There would be other careers setup for you as well with production cars. Maybe a manufacturer series where all cars are stock. Events like at Nurburgring, setting certain times in cars. Random races at random tracks, etc. With a Championship race.

Then you have F1, and to make that more like real F1 races, same goes for Grand Prix or other related cars like Australian Supercars and so on.

Obviously to do this, they would need to add more tracks and probably cars in those categories, not to mention a day night cycle for 24 hours of Le Mans, but I could see that happening for Forza 6 realistically as they seemed to have wanted to implement day/night prior to Forza 5 but could not because Turn 10 does not release any features in a game that are unfinished. But they clearly have all of the vehicles in FM5 ready for night time racing with the headlight system. So there would need to be a few additions, but I think that they could pull this off and make a more exciting and fun Single Player career race mode.

I like the full career mode idea a lot. I remember playin the 24 hours oh Nuhrburgring in Gran Turismo. I would start the race in the morning, go for a few hours, switcth to a hired driver let it go until I got home then pick it up when I got home. I kind of miss the longer career races, 2 to 3 laps barely warms up the tires and there’s no strategy.

That is a real PITA…

You can tap the L and R bumpers to skip to the next manufacturer, makes things go much faster when hunting down a car.

Thanks for the tip! Although, I prefer the way previous FM titles organized the cars. Perhaps they are doing it this way to softened the blow of having 200 cars, haha.

Sounds a bit like the GT Series.
Racing disciplines tend to have their own titles. WRC, F1, DMT, etc., they all have designated games. Forza and GT are somewhere in a grey area where they try to become jack of all trades, but masters of none. It’ll be a while until either one get anywhere close to integrating full series into their games. I highly doubt it will ever happen due to a little something called “licensing.”
