You are using massively outdated psychology to make us come back, but that has been seen through a decade ago.
This is flawed, because you just cannot expect those tricks to work on subjects who already fully see through and understand it.
Modern games will just increasingly fail, holding on to this what worked a decade ago.
Holding back the majority of content so people would hopefully return will not work in the future.
And the reason is we already know this!
Seriously guys, give us full, complete games, that are a joy to play, and people will love it.
Give us more obvious psychological tricks, and you will lose it. Faster than you think.
This is benefitial critique of the obvious, so I hope you get my point.
This has become an ongoing problem with the gaming industry. F2P tactics and subscription game libraries have largely changed the flow of game development- and not for the better. It is now a rare thing to find a game that people want to play simply because it is a fully fleshed out and enjoyable experience in and of itself. I think that those corps which now own most of the studios are primarily relying on the engagement of the youngest generation of gamers who know nothing else. I’d wager that most of the studios themselves wish they could still develop games as they once did.
And maybe hire some actual car enthusiasts who know how to do a head gasket or pull an engine. Do an oil change at least? Own a car made before 1978?
Maybe know how to put a basic coilover suspension kit on a real car. It’s not hard stuff and the knowledge that could be applied would be, get this: REALISTIC.
Not going to another, “promotion” of what I see as sanctioned do it all for you event. Go get dirty.
