xbox one and xbox 360 race together ?

i have a question i have a xbox one and my freind has an xbox 360 on forza horizon 2 will we be able to race together ?

I’m pretty sure the answer is no. The games even connect online differently.

No and there will never be any mainstream Xbox 360-One cross-platform games. When Ghosts was first announced they said that the option for cross-platform will be there, but they later changed that. Probably because of the push companies are doing to get people to move to current gen.

thank you for the info he need to get an xbox1 then we can race

It has been announced that there will be no cross-generation multiplayer. The Xbox One version has some features that the 360 version doesn’t, like weather, Drivatars, and car meets. Also, multiplayer-wise, the Xbox One version can hold up to 12 players, and 360 only eight. Things like weather would be hard to implement on the 360 version.

XB1 can’t even connect to 360 in parties, I highly doubt we’ll ever see cross-platform gaming.

I know it’s possible, it’s probably just too much of a headache for the XBL folks to try and implement.

Even if it would be possible, the engine both games are based on would not allow it. H2 360 is based on the H1 engine and H2 XO is based on the Forza 5 engine. These are completely different engines, so racing together is impossible.

Basically you’re saying that communication between 2 different platforms is impossible?

The whole idea of IP-based communications is that different platforms can (and will) interact with eachother as long as the proper API is on-board each engine/system. How else would you be able to post on this forum using a PC while someone else would be using a smartphone? How would you be able to play Counterstrike between a PC-player and a Macintosh-player? Or closer to home; how would you be able to send a Message from a 360 to a One or vice versa?

The sole reason, in my opinion, that 360 and One will not be able to race together is the absolute difference in in-game content (weather, rendering distance, physics engine, resolution) and the lack of direct communications (chat through XBL). I see no reason why the 2 games wouldn’t be able to exchange car-“coordinates” over IP regardless of the engine you talk about.

…you realise you’re talking about the same thing as him, right?

No, not the communication between the two platforms, but the 2 different core engines (applications) the Horizons are based on. They are build in a complete different way, they are completely different games. They’re miles apart, it’s the same as Forza 4 and Forza 5 players racing together in one game. It’s not possible, the 2 Horizons are programmed differently. On top that the 2 game worlds are possibly very different as well. You would need a third world and a seperate game engine for the Horizon 2 players to get together on.

Or… they would need to do what the Crew is doing. Build a 360 version from the original game, that has the same core, content and world, but is toned down in various things. That is not the case with Horizon 2… the 360 version isn’t a toned down version of the XO version, it’s a completely different game. It is based in the same region, it may have a lot of the same features and cars, but it’s a different game.

the games run on 2 different engines on 2 different systems. Both games aren’t even the same structure wise. It would be cool, no doubt… but not possible

ONLINE - do 360 racers compete with xbox one racers online? Or are there separate online servers for the two different systems?

I’m thinking they are different.

They are different. Am playing both games

Drivatars you see in Horizon 2 on the Xbox One include those fellow players in FH2, as well as those from the Forza Motorsport 5 (pretty well trained by now) who are part of the pool.

The Xbox 360 version does not have access to the Drivatar information because they are different platforms.
