This article has infinitely more information than anything they’ve shown and will likely show til the release.
It looks to me that the car building career is the only one were getting. No championships, no team signings, no retro series like 80s F1. Just buy a car and race it in weekends.
The pit sounds like its only going to be used in multiplayer. Which sounds like Singleplayer is going to be the underbaked afterthought I was worried about.
The car building career mode is a good idea, I dont think its bad if its executed well. But I dont think its worth having the entire career made around it, abandoning the series format completely.
i’m just tired of creative features like upgrades and livery editors being hyped up pre-release for two games now only for the systems on which the operate to not have functionally changed. a ui tweak for the same street/sport/race upgrades we’ve had since god knows when does not inspire much confidence, even if the campaign is supposedly built around upgrading your car
They’ve changed a whole lot of stuff about that in Horizon 5 though. The livery editor has had a bunch of QOL changes. Masks, flip and mirror etc. I really dont know what you could further add other than materials for colors.
The upgrades have extensively been expanded, with different gearsets, differentials, 2step boost, tire sizes and further compound diversity.
Only thing that could use an overhaul at this point would be the actual Tuning suite.
Mask layers and vinyl flipping were implemented in FH4, the only livery editor improvement that FH5 has seen is the vinyl glossiness slider.
I didn’t know any of that actually.
VIP pack is once again Forza Editions. No Sian coupe as a VIP car sadly.
Any more comparisons?
Not yet.
Ok, so apparently its time to read the splash page…
Forza Motorsport Coming October 10 to Xbox Series X|S and PC
Also Chris Esaki wrote this in the article…
Blockquote October 10 is only the start of this journey. Forza Motorsport will continue to evolve and expand after its release with regular new career championships and online events, incredible new cars and tracks, and exciting new gameplay experiences over time.
I want to know more about this on the 13th. (Along with triple screen support and FFB on direct drive wheels).
Steam Page exists, BTW…
well there goes any reason to get a series x. looks like for the 1st time i will be skipping an xbox gen unless something else comes up. and raise prices to $70 at the same time? lol. good luck t10.
The aforementioned updated FAQ has also some other interesting info:
As a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, I’ll be getting the Premium Add-ons bundle for $35.99.
Nice to see there will be new aero options. Maybe people will stop whining about it now. Probably not though.
I’m pretty sure Gran Turismo lets you adjust ballast in much finer increments than that. Which is realistic, because no one is going to crudely slap on hundreds of pounds of extra weight where just 20 or 50 would suffice.
I also noticed this. Ballasts are important for BOP racing but 100lbs is a massive ballast.
But since they’re implementing it as a part upgrade rather than a tuning slider that dynamically adjusts the PI, Thats inline with how they implement these things. Kind of like how they add 60 different transmission options just to have the different gear ratings.
GT7 lets you do 1 kg increments and be alble to move it front to back on the car. All it seems to say it “100 lbs”, not if it is incrementally added or not.
this
Literally says ‘each’
I don’t see “at a time”…
It seems to be an upgrade with multiple stages, like the restrictors.
Unfortunately this hints even more at T10 not changing the game enough. The PI system is locked into the upgrade system. So Forza, unlike Gran Turismo, doesn’t have support for sliders changing PI.
Seriously, if this game is just FM8 instead of a reboot, it’s just too little to regain the community’s trust. FM7 was a perfectly fine game for casuals and FM will be, too, but what happens when they leave after the first couple days?
Nothing I’ve seen has impressed me. Not even the graphics. The Corvette in the main menu looks like it’s made of plastic. Granted, technically the Corvette has a fiberglass body, but still. The menu itself looks like the menu of an app. Both FM6 and 7 were so much better than this horrid minimalistic look, though I preferred FM6’s presentation.
