Ive had this problem since i got the game, it happens in single player and multiplayer. For instance i have just done an online league race of 7 laps. My first lap was 1m.05, the next 6 laps i beat that time, my best being 59sec. But despite it saying -5sec quicker at the splits and even across the line each lap, it says my fastest lap at the end of the race was 1m.05. This is very annoying in leagues as it affects my qualifying for each race. Even more so when playing rivals, beating my target and it not registering. Like i said it happens in single player too. Its very tempting to sell the game because of this unless there is a fix?
Could it be that the quicker laps are dirty and the slower one is clean
I dont think so… I just did a lap where I went off the track and ended up in a gravel trap, it was listed as the fastest lap time despite the following lap being on track the whole time. Quite frustrating :S
If you didn’t get a triangle next to the lap you are on, then your off course visit was clean according to Forza.
Most likely your issue is drafting. If you draft or if someone drafts you, you’ll get a dirty lap triangle. It’s hard to avoid drafting penalties.
Usually the only times you’ll get a clean lap during a full collision race is if there is almost no cars around you.
Sorry I should have clarified that this is free play with 0 AI drivers.
Reading another thread it appears this was because I went off track in the final sector in the previous lap. Which to me is a very, very strange rule to apply.
It’s because sometimes you can go off track to get a better speed and line to start the next lap
It’s not that strange at all
Stirling Moss famously did this during qualifying at the French GP at Reims, he’d over-shoot the last corner, chuck a u-ey and then use the run-off area to get a longer run to the start/finish line (and on a track which was basically a giant triangle, even the tiniest boost out of the last corner would be a massive gain)
I believe they introduced that to prevent people getting a push over the line by a team mate in a much higher class car, or alternatively cutting a final corner to keep speed over the start line.
Re rivals times, check a stickied post at the top of the support thread - there is a known issue with a workaround shown.
@FEAR keep an eye on what is announced on August 6 during the Forza Monthly livestream. With the coming Track Limits feature (which could be as early as August 7, but maybe later), your lap time experience may change anyway.
Chances are I won’t watch the stream but thanks for the heads up Max. Finger on the pulse as usual!
Good to hear some of the promised improvements are moving past the development stage and not far from release. Any word on a lb wipe? Not massively bothered either way but could see it being big news within the community.
Way back when, the Mini cars were setting unbelievable times on some of the courses. Replays showed they were being pushed by much faster cars before crossing the start/finish line and launching into the “next lap” at speeds much higher than they could ever attain even downhill.
Now, if you dirty the last sector prior to the start/finish, it automatically dirties your next lap.
