I have encountered this in the A class hoppers twice recently.
A driver fast driver who sees the need to run others off the road in order to win. Leading on lap 2, road america - ALT the other day I had a guy smash and spin me on the dirt track. I never caught up.
At the end I checked the lap times and it turned out his best lap was over a second quicker than mine, he could easily have won without smashing and I would have said well done at the end, good race.
Not the first time I have encountered this, fast, dirty drivers. These guys are worse than the wreckers in my opinion. At least the wreckers don’t pretend to be anything else.
I blocked the guy but I didn’t report, I’m not sure if it falls under unsporting behaviour or not. Any other experiences with this sort of thing out there.
Of course wrecking people intentionally like that is unsporting. This sort of situation frustrates me more than those who do not know how to drive at all trying to wreck people. If you are fast, then why wreck people? I consider myself an above average racer, but I find it more fun working through the field rather than hot lapping at the front. Add me if you would like to at least have one semi fast friend who does not wreck people lol.
Unsporting behavior. You need to report that. He do that to enough people & they report him to, he will end up in a lobby with people just like him. Or better, not be able to play online for a while because his reputation is horrible.
There are all too many fast drivers that confuse being fast with being a good racer. They are two different things. A good racer is both fast and able to pass in traffic cleanly. Fast drivers just push people out of their way because they’re unable to both be fast and execute clean passes. I’m lucky enough to race with many top 100 great racers. I’m always impressed as they whiz by me without contact like they’re in a whole different class of car. Makes me smile to see it done so well.
And then I will undoubtedly run into chowder heads that although they are faster than me have absolutely no ability to drive in traffic but think they’re great and entitled to the track because they’re faster. I don’t block or drive dirty and if you can execute a better corner exit or your car has better acceleration I’ll let you by and tip my cap.
There are 2 reason to bump someone out of your way, 1) you’re fast but not a good racer, 2) you’re a dirty driver.
Block and report those guys. It’s still unsporting conduct and people who drive like that should find themselves awash in lobbies full of people who only drive like that.
This to me is a perfect response. I’m not the fastest, nor will I ever be. I just hold my line when I see them coming, and if I have time I move well off the racing line. Just yesterday at Bath had the normal first lap spin fest after the first long straight. It’s normal, and expected no big deal. A Camaro that spun ALONE in turn one, decided that even though I was off the racing line to go out of his way to hit me at full speed. I wasnt even near the guy when he spun. I just smiled and got myself back on track. By the I got to the “twisty bits” of the track he was nose first in the wall, I drove around him and never saw the Camaro again. It was very satisfying. I’ve been in races where on the last lap a fast driver has a mishap and I’ll pass them. I know they’ll catch me by the finish, so I keep my line and let them by. Why ruin my finish and his. Clean driving far out weighs the chance at a medal. I’ve only reported a few people, blocked many. I just want the reports I make to really mean something and not sound like “I’m” the sore loser! Besides most, if not all crashers are easy to intimidate. Just ride their bumper for a bit, they’ll make a mistake rather quickley. They really don’t know how to pass or be passed.
I like your style Dillifec… Most clean racers will do this if the car behind them is that much faster… Sometimes it is really hard for a guy that is 4 seconds faster than you not to bump into somebody thru the corners. I do enjoy racing with those who have proper knowledge and when i see those guys i try to help them out with tuning and cars. Yes not everybody does this and im fine with having to race my way around and i enjoy doing that as well.
Now if only my Xbox could somehow tell me who are the dirty and clean racers before i try and pass… please nobody respond to my last sentence here i dont want this turning into a wishey list.
For me that is a block and report situation. I’d file that under bad sportsmanship. Not the players I wish to game with.
I don’t mind an accident, sometimes you or they will make a mistake. An apology makes all the difference to me, I have a moral affliction that will force me to give any spot gained back, and I tend to find a good majority of the online racer’s do the same.
But it’s the one’s you describe to be the lowest in my estimation. It’s the cynical action and lack of race craft. Being fast does not a good racer make.
Block and report m8. All the penalty or punishment needed.
there are reasons other than being dirty intentionally. some times its a bad tune. just because its a 5 star tune doesnt mean its good for racing. i accidently loaded the 1st 5 star tune racing the lobby timer and i dont know if it was for dragging or drifting but it was not for racing. i quit because the car was fast, really fast, but i couldn’t keep it on the track. dont race a class but there may be a car like the hennesy or ariel the guy was trying out. i cant keep either of those on the track. the 3rd would be forgetting to change cars tunes for the track. seems like all of us have forgotten to change cars/tunes after lemans. yes the car is fast, very fast, but it dosn’t like to corner because it doesn’t have the aero most other tracks need. if the next track to come up is road america you’ll probably be fine, if its abu dabi or long beach not so much.
Yeah, happens to me all the time, and I do often make accidental contact. In this case I have no doubt it was intentional. I was in a lobby with this guy all night so I got to know his form.
Vote to kick doesn’t work too well. Apart from this guy it was a pretty good lobby. I don’t want to speak too soon but this week I’ve had more good experiences than bad. Possibly blocking is working.
I save and review all replays where I suspect unsporting driving and intentional hitting. Leaving aside crasher-trolls, I only take action on those players that upon review you can tell did what they did. It is easy to tell the between driver error and a deliberate act.
Please report the gamertags you spot wrecking people by going into VIEW GAMER CARD, then Report or block, followed by Report, then select Unsporting behavior. There is then a box to fill in “CRASHER” - disruptive in races, causes wrecks, etc. Followed by Report to Xbox.
Those reports go to Xbox LIVE’s system, and rate those people down in the games and it affects their reputation. Have others in the races do the same, but don’t mention it during the races.
Can’t you mulitplayer with the simulation damage settings on? I haven’t played a lot of Multi-yet, I’m still enjoying the single player and trying to get my turning down before I make people angry.
You can in a private lobby. Public Hoppers are all cosmetic.
As much as i love the idea of full sim damage racing, its just not something that can happen within the public hoppers. Would just give the griefers more tools with which to annoy others. Losing your race position due to crashers is frustrating, but nothing compared to limping to the pits at 20mph, due to no fault of your own.
Even in a private lobby, full damage can be curse, accidents happen, mistakes are made. race over!
Never knew that, i stand corrected. Eventful, i can imagine.
Totaly missed that hopper, i assume it was special event kinda thing, only on for a few days? The longest hoppers i have seen are the GT Endurance ones.
Hmm it depends on the lines though, I have many a time caught someone and then realised why, there lines are terrible and as you are taking the proper line you dont realise they are going to be THAT slow at the Apex, I try to avoid contact that will take people off the track but I will go for a lunge if the door is left open for me when im behind them, many people racing online use ABS so into the corners there is normally a lot of overtaking chances if they then turn in on me well … its not my fault they leave the door then dont have the awareness that someone is on the inside.
You have to realise the mentality of the majority, they don’t like losing and will instead rather take you off than let you past (even when you are seconds a lap faster than them) I had it today (in fact its on my Twitch) Le Mans Bugatti Circuit had a Viper that tapped the back end of my car twice to spin me after I just got past him going into the next corner, some of the times its the fastest guy “blinking first” as they know a lot of people wont let them past
While I understand what you are talking about the fact is that you are making poor judgements. That ‘gap’ doesn’t really exist. So a lunge into it is you putting your car out of control knowing you are likely to snag the other guy and in so doing make it through the turn. It is the driver behinds responsibility to avoid the crash.
My major gripe is with the racers, I use the term loosely, who need to use you as a bumper to get through every major turn. And as noted above they are outright quick anyway. I cannot count the number of times I’ve been nerfed off when in first place by some ‘highly skilled’ racer. Who then claims to be a clean driver.
I understand what you are saying too although you have assumed I have hit then I said there their lines are rubbish,
Senna famously said “If you no longer go first a gap that exists, you are no longer a racer” if someone shows a gap and are on the brakes way too early you are going to go for the overtake, if I go for the lunge and it’s my fault it doesn’t come off (I was too late going down the inside) I will give the place back, but you find most people still turn in even though you are along side and have the corner, sending you both off cause the physics straightens up your car
I like to race clean. I race with people who are quicker on some tracks and slower on others as per norm with everyone i’m sure.
But I hate it when your in second place less than a second behind first just placing a bit of pressure. You know your quicker but your waiting for a good clean overtake. Then you notice in rear view that some ones coming up fast cause your held up… and bang into your back full speed and in turn you do same to person in front…
Whats infuriating is that normally the wrecker gets away with no real time delay. Grrrrrrr
I’ve started blocking people for a week now. But others obviously are not. Cause its harder to find lobbies.
