I caused a big accident in a race. It was unintentional. I got distracted right when the race was beginning and didn’t have my foot on the throttle. My car basically stalled and the car behind me hit me causing us to spin and collide with other cars. It was a big pile up. I was on the first row making the incident even worse.
Here is what I did. I tried to apologize but my microphone wasn’t working. I keep having issues with it. After my car was hit a couple of times it ended up against the wall facing the wrong way. I waited there for the rest of the cars to pass. I then started the race following the trailing cars. I stayed behind and didn’t try to pass. Two cars pitted after the first lap. I think they had simulation damage on. I tried to slow down and not pass them on pit road but they took longer than I expected. I proceeded at few turns into the race where there was a corner with a large area of pavement outside the racing area. I went into this area and slowed down to let the two drivers that pitted pass. I then followed those cars not trying to pass. I finished in last place, 16th.
I feel bad for ruining the other drivers’ races. I should have been paying more attention at the start but real world distraction do occur. I tried to stay in last place and not interfere with the other drivers in the race. I wanted to stay in the race and let the other drivers get the additional points for 16 cars being in the race. I also finished last because I didn’t deserve any more points than that. Other than getting distracting at the beginning of the race, did I do the right thing? If not, what else should I have done.
I think you went somewhat overboard letting the guys in the pits go past as well but I do understand where you’re coming from. In your situation I would have just waited for everyone to go past and them gone for it and see what recovery I could do.
Remember in real life if you stall and don’t get ploughed into by the other cars you can work your way back up. Generally real life racers are able to avoid a stalled car by keeping on their toes. The guys behind also need to try and be aware and try avoid incidents.
I generally feel the same as yourself and try to maintain some honour. I’m not that desperate to win the race that I punt everyone off, I kind of enjoy the challenge of staying clean.
In a lot of my races if I misjudged my braking a bit and tapped someone wide I’d stay behind them or park up and wait for then to go past. Usually while also saying sorry into my Mic. Sometimes though there’s just douchebags out there that even though you’ve pulled off the racing line and slowed down to let them back through, still decide to ram you off the track, and often in this league wreck your car.
Had a few good races with lots of laughs with some guys where we were trying to keep it clean and the worst we did was some small love taps. Was difficult but fun to stay clean but we had plenty of side by side action
It happens mate. Don’t kill yourself over it.
Yesterday I raced quite a few races, there were a few hits, from others to me, and unfortunately from me to others. Not on purpose, but it happens, specially when lag is involved.
If I saw the same guy crashing into more than one person in more than one race without apologising, I would report him (about 6 or 7 reports).
Quite a few sent a message explaining the situation, which I find it great.
If it was lag I would just ignore it, nothing that can be done about it (no ones fault).
On my last race of the night I had this crash that caused quite a pile up. I don’t see as anyone’s fault (the video is on the third person, but I play inside so my view is more restricted). By the time I saw the guy lose control, it was too late: http://xboxclips.com/oscarolim/cf886730-d4fd-45cb-980b-898b3425aa74
One thing that annoys me (and you can see on the above video), is when people hit someone else and don’t lift, but instead just keep pushing him out. That’s bad sportsmanship.
Thought I recognised the name from last night’s lobby…
In general it wasn’t too bad, although it’s unfortunate one of my own mistakes made it into your clips… From memory, I think at that stage I’d already had my car badly damaged by a pile-up in front of me that I couldn’t avoid, and between trying to correct for that and driving in-car I probably could have left my cornering slightly later - then again, it was a driver who seemed to be lunging into people in every race…
Generally if someone makes a mistake it’s occasionally annoying but it’s a part of racing. But there are definitely 3-4 drivers in almost every Elite lobby I’ve raced in who have no decency at all - and when they’ve hit me 3-4 or more times across 2 or more races, it just makes me wonder why I spend time trying to race fast and clean (You can see how wide I took turn 1 at Road Atlanta to try and give space and avoid tangling with anyone!)
I was in that lobby as well! If I start near the back, I would try to hang back and pass the carnage when it’s safe to do so. One of those clips showed me going off of the track by a little bit as I putted some distance between me and the pileup on the Road Atlanta clip. I’ll admit that I had a few moments where I get carried away.
Dirty move rusted. Really dirty. You had that one coming. I don’t blame the guy for losing his cool.
You looked back once, and blocked. That was clean and legit move. The guy behind you had plenty of time to adjust.
You blocked a second time without looking back and did it in such a way that the guy (who altered his line after first block) had nowhere to go but into you. I was hoping he would clip you in your corner panel and send you into the pit pane entrance wall because of your dumb move.
Congrats on ruining that guy’s race Rusted. Next time, take the loss or photo finish.
It would be really nice to see a " Vacation" because of the dirty move. Couldn’t tell you how many times that happened to me. Only one of the reasons I don’t play MP online.
I’ll admit that I tend to have an aggressive blocking style near the end of races where I would swerve a little to make it hard for the car behind me to pass. I’ve shouldn’t be blocking like that, but that person shouldn’t pinned me against the wall like that in retaliation. I’ll need to work on cleaning up my driving before I make that mistake too many times.
Hey, I remember your name as well
Full disclosure, I only report if the person has hit more than once without any cars around (since it could be that someone else hit the person, and that’s not necessarily their fault), and only on dry tracks (wet tracks I would always report T10 :p).
Which clip is yours? From what I remember, I never saw you doing anything wrong on the races, so you (as you explain) was just another by-standard of other drivers driving.
But yeah, generally was a good lobby and very enjoyable. Hopefully today will be the same.
Watkins Glen - you avoided the mishap I created by coming across onto my line and not realising someone was diving up the inside…
I take the same approach - 1 or 2 collisions is something that can be the result of honest mistakes, but if someone is repeatedly driving like an idiot then I tend to notice. I think it was Zenmonster/Xenmonster who actually caused one accident by racing with the front 2 at Road Atlanta after they’d lapped him and he tried to re-pass one of them at the end…
What you did is commendable but maybe a bit excessive. I wrecked a few people by accident and if they came up behind me again I let them pass. To many seem to not care and just wreck people. Seems the collision on leagues are more based on luck than skill. All of this for what ever DLC they give as a prize. Might be worth the hassle if it ends up being the Nascar or Porsche expansion. If they give away a $5 car pack or something then the frustration doesn’t seem worth it. Time to play some other games I’ve been neglecting LOL.
I don’t race collision leagues normally just ghost for these very reasons. With the Racing Championship being limited to collision I really have no choice since there are no ghost leagues this week. Not sure why they eliminated the ghost league while the championship is being held. I wish there was a choice of ghost or collision for the championship but oh well. I’m just going to try and stay in the top 50% and not race as much as I normally would.
That should be a competition ban right there. He brake on purpose to then crash into you. What’s the point? 100 extra points? Really? Just do an extra race to get those 100 points.
While I didn’t saved the reply due to knowing that it would take a few weeks for Turn 10 to review the replay and ban that person, I saved the clip as it was very obvious that it was an intentional, deliberate act where he braked to pin me against the wall done on the final straight. I was surprised that I didn’t finished 16th over this incident as I somehow rolled across the finish line.
That clip shows that some people care more about that extra 100-200 points more than the integrity of the race. It makes me wonder why so many people will risk a 7 or a 30 day ban just to be a bit more likely to get a DLC prize such as the car pass by causing incidents such as the one I’ve shared.
I was pretty impressed with the lobbies I was in last night, Very courteous driving by everyone. Even mistakes that were made were forgivable. (its racing… contact will happen…) the few times I slid off track from locking the brakes accidentally (or not realizing the track layout…) I did what I could to keep off line coming back on.
Compared to what I saw in the Modern GT lobby last week… (complete mess)… https://1drv.ms/v/s!AtuhT174YsbYlMEVbqDs5KSBbW5FoQ (note that I also had a bit of rage going on after that hit… and all the hits after… )
I’ve never reported anyone in the game, I figure stuff happens, and its just a game. Maybe the person was distracted by something IRL going on around them. There is always next race!
I know i caused a few accidents myself however in each case i have tried to let the ones effected go by but this morning i had one car that just continually kept wrecking me after i passed him clean and fair he would come up and instead of trying to pass he would shunt me out of the way and if i recovered he would continue to try to knock me out, so perhaps i was wrong but after 3 or 4 races like that i just punted him right out.
Some of us do try to race fair and clean but there are jokers who can only pass if they ram you or pit maneuver you out of the way .
As is the wont, the Open League race is fraught with your usual host of rambunctious and bumptious racers who think they’re the fastest and take umbrage at any or all who accidently bump into them or are faster. You just need thick skin and great escape artist routines to survive the Open League!
this open league is fun, but i get very frustrated when someone wrecks themselves then come back on the track without lookin for traffic, and T-bones u. its like no one ever taught them manners, i mean most of racin is common sence i would think. as far as when u happen to bump someone, i always pull over and let them go in front of me, if i catch back up to them i pass if i can do it safely. I must report that i had 1 race last night were a guy was in last place decided to drive the wrong direction on track, then turned around to unghost and wrecked another racer, then drove to the finish line and waited, and as i was coming to finish (i was in 5th) he cut out in front of me and totals out the car i ended up like 12th, i asked him about it he said his contoller died, when i watched replay he kept ramming ppl as they come to the finish, so i think i may report him. but in all i like the series, but i dont know if its worth the hassle.
No wonder you guys are having/causing so many accidents. How do you know someone is near you when your racing in the car. I didn’t see 1 clip that made use of the right anolougue stick to look left or right. I know it’s more realistic experience being in the car but if your gunna use it you will cause accidents and you will be involved in more accidents it’s to be expected.
