Will Forza Continue Its New Multiplayer Direction in FM6?

Forza 4 had fantastic multiplayer, as did the first Forza Horizon. After that it seems a decision was reached somewhere to limit player freedom in multiplayer and only offer multiplayer content designed by the developers. It started with FM5 having only hoppers and no user generated public lobbies, and has evolved to FH2’s current scheme where there are no hoppers or lobbies at all and the options given the players are few and far between. It makes me wonder what we’re in store for with FM6.
I’d love to see FM6 return to the way FM4 handled multiplayer but that doesn’t seem likely considering Forza’s new multiplayer direction seems to be taking it in the completely opposite direction.
If FM6’s multiplayer consists of having to choose one car and a group of four predetermined races to race it on then, while I won’ be too surprised, I won’t be much of a fan either.
Oh well, maybe for the new FM

I have to agree with TheBadJesus on this one. A lot of the guys I race with now were guys that I had met in public generated lobby races from FM2! This is something that is really needed to be brought back. If people behaved badly in those races they were kicked out by the public. I remember setting up races in the forums, updating the forums that it was up and having full lobbies of great racers. It was fantastic. I miss that a lot. Now if you want that you have to create a private lobby. Which is great and we need to also have the private lobbies. However you do not meet as many new racers any more.

I’ve never really played much online, but me and my brother play a lot of split screen forza and Forza 5 was shockingly bad at that. Will be disappointed if they continue with that trend like you say.

I feel the same way. Forza 5 lacked a bit of everything. Track selection was not that great and neither was the cars. They never returned with c9 in p class making the mazda the only car to drive. I don’t see x class as big of a deal because f1 cars are mostly all the same. And they should have made a separate Indy class because those cars are pretty much pointless. Why did they waste there time putting pointless cars in the game like the ford transit. They’re cool to have and paint up but honestly it’s pointless. They could have had so many better cars in this game. What happened. Forza used to be a racing car game. Forza 5 is full of cheap tuners and very little race cars. This was their first game on a new console so we will have to wait and see what forza 6 does.

  1. Forza 5’s 200 cars was quadruple what is typical in the genre. FM5 wasn’t lacking in cars on account of having as many as three or four non-Forza games combined.

  2. Having an Indy class wouldn’t make sense since classes are performance-based. Indy cars are X just like modern F1 cars because their PI fall into that range, just as other different cars have similar PI.

  3. The Ford Transit is there for a reason. If you were a car enthusiast, you’d know that. The Transit is there for the automotive enthusiasts.

  4. You seem to be determining cars to be worthless if they aren’t the most successful in their PI class, which means 99.9% of cars would be pointless because there’s usually going to be that one car topping the leaderboards and having a bit of an advantage in races. This means you want one car per class. It also sounds like you don’t want low-end cars, so basically you want to or three race and supercar classes with one car each.

If you want FM6 to be a bunch of supercars and high-end race cars, you might as well just give up and play another series.

It’s also worth noting that lower-end cars are in the game because people other than you like them. A lot of players favor lower-class races. Not everybody focuses just on the Top three classes.

1.) No, it definitely was lacking cars. There really isn’t anything else OF Forza’s genre on the xbox one console. Need for speed is not the same genre, F1 is not the same genre. There is no direct competitor to Forza for xbox, until project cars comes out. As for comparing to GT, (which IS of Forza’s genre), GT6 has WAY more cars. So directly comparing apples to apples, you are incorrect.

2.) Agreed, who cares.

3.) The Ford transit is a joke of a car, I don’t think anyone really wants to drive that car. That’s up to the community to decide, but I cant honestly understand why anyone would want to pay for that car, or use it for that matter.

4.) I like varieties of both, so I’d like to see more of both appear in FM6

Go look at Forza 4 and you will see so many varieties of cars. There is nothing wrong with cheap turners but why no race cars? If you take a look at some leaderboards you will see so many different cars at the top of the leaderboards except for x and r1. It was the c9 and mazda 787b. There were also lots of prototype cars that even though they were not the fastest , good and fun to drive. Take a look at forza 5, one f1 car and I think 4 or 5 Indy cars. I’m not really a fan of them but it’s just a suggestion to make the game better. Also there are only 6 prototype one/group c ( p class ) forza 5 was a big upset the only reason people play it is because of the improved physics and graphics. But like I said this is their first game on xbox1.

Completely agree.

I want FM6 to be on par with FM4. Last time I checked, It had more than 30 race cars (and by the way, as Zonda said, many of them have no rivals).

This time round Forza 6 should be using Azure the way Titanfall uses it…I fully expect online to be spectacular with public lobbies, Race nights and leagues with at least 24 player races

I want night racing as i love racing at night.ESPECIALLY ONLINE as it feels cool just relying on your headlights and instincts to make your way around the track as fast as possible with other players and its just a lot of fun really.

PEACE

We were talking about online multiplayer not night racing

I hope they do something similar to the first Forza Horizon multiplayer setup.

I surely hope that the new online doesn’t continue. It had criticisms both by critics and players alike. I realise that it’s supposed to use the power of the cloud, but it certainly isn’t working. No custom public lobbies is also a minus. I doubt the auction house, gifting, and storefront will return because of constant hacking in Forza 4.

Also, if the wrecking continues, it would be Crash Team Racing (pun, not the Crash Bandicoot kart racing game).

Man it sucks that we get punished because of hackers it’s so upsetting I hope gifting and storefront comeback

I think FM4 got Multiplayer right.
I hope FM6 will have split-screen online. Also, they need to fix local multiplayer; it was unacceptable in FM5.

+1 for better split screen support. It is something I still use with friends and FM5 was pretty disappointing in this respect.

As long as they add public custom lobbies and keep the class restricted hoppers, I’ll be happy. I was disappointed with Horizon in that aspect, it would have been nice if you could pick the car class you want to race in before entering an online road trip and then let the people vote on the next race. The current system in Horizon is seriously flawed, my D, C and B class builds get little to no use because it’s nearly impossible to get into a road trip in one of those car classes.

Forza 4 did MP perfectly. You had the hoppers for those that just wanted to get into races quickly, but you also had custom lobbies to drift, do street drags, endurance races, etc.

I never felt like I was forced to do a certain class/type of race in FM4 like I do in Forza Horizon 2 or Forza 5

This. As for the hoppers thing, I started wondering if it would be possible to have ranking system for online players? Something like classes from 1 to 5 or 1 to 10. This way similarily talented drivers could be fit in the same event resulting even races and more people might be into online gaming. When a lot of players online only people of same rank in one event, and if less people playing different rankings could be united. There could even be -1 and -2 rankings for those hitting others on purpose.

Could this kind of stuff work?
