Why Yas Marina?

At the time of its announcement about a month ago, it had a whopping 48 votes. There are at least a dozen tracks with more than twice that number currently, and a good number of them have more than ten times the votes. As far as I know, motorsport fans do not love the track at all. I’m extremely curious what led Turn 10 to choose it as the very first post-release track addition.
Considering the number of tracks at launch has been reduced from the last game, and considering there are numerous tracks known to be popular with Forza fans that aren’t currently in the game… Why this one?

It’s probably the only completed track they have on the back burner judging by the severe lack of features and QoL this game has received over the last 6 years. There are far too many simple things missing from this game and we can clearly see this game was not meant to be released for at least another 2 years.

Wouldn’t it be better to just roll out the fantasy tracks from FM 2-4 for now to appease fans and later take their time with bringing back the real life ones?

yeahh yas marina is one of the worst race tracks on earth. it could have stayed gone. i’ll absolutely be skipping it any time it comes up in multiplayer, it’s just dreadfully bad and i have no interest in driving it. hopefully cota stays gone for the same reasons. bring back brands hatch and tsukuba and bathurst and camino viejo instead, please.

Releasing a track editor in a user-friendly state would be a smart move on their part at this stage. In other words, they would be enabling us to help them.

I can almost guarantee you that it’s only because they already had the track nearly complete rather than there being any sort of actual reason behind it.

Unfortunately, that means that they completely ignored the community’s sentiments regarding the track for the entire 6 year lifespan of FM7.

All down to what licences they have and can get. No point in having a licence (no matter how awful the track) and not using it.

I’d love to see more variety in the tracks and hopefully dinner of the fantasy tracks from older games will make a return.

20 tracks with 48 variations and then weather on top I don’t think is a bad start.

Peoples votes for tracks dont really mean much. I can see at most 1-2 actual new tracks in the next year. The vast majority will be returning tracks from 7. I would also assume the weakest tracks like yas will be coming sooner, theyre gonna save more popular ones as player numbers dip to try and spike player engagement.

where is that poll? I want to see if my beloved Brands Hatch and Paul Ricard have any chance.

Well, i think i have not played its new layout yet

it’s hard for me to say yas marina is necessarily my absolute least favorite. cota’s final section is worse than any one section of yas marina so it’s sort of a toss-up between those two for me. but they both exhibit everything i hate in track design, a total lack of flow or momentum and a focus on slowing down to a near-standstill to perfectly hit every apex.

call me crazy, but i vastly prefer tracks where you need to go fast to go fast, like brands hatch and watkins glen and maple valley.

Yas Marina is my single least favorite track. Hopefully it is not forced into any of the Career events.

Search for them in the Track Voting FM section.

I would posit that there is an element of it being a pretty track. Appalling to drive, sure, but nice to look at. Forza had always been a graphics showcase for Xbox, so screenshots of that funky glass thing all lit up at night is something they want to show off.

When has Forza ever had anything to do with F1?

yeah, definitely, but then my question is “why on earth would you pick yas marina as your emergency track?”

like, if you need to bust that out, it’s probably cuz the players are p*ssed. so wouldn’t you want to make it a fan favorite? now it’s just another thing i’m mad about lol
