i guess you wont find many topics like this however let me say this about forza 5 (and forza 4 in part)
there are many tracks in this world i dislike, most tracks by herman tilke and most street circuits
the vast majority of driving simulators present the circuits and they way they present them tends to solidify my hate for them
forza presented two circuits that i dont like… namely yas marina and long beach
there is nothing that can make me like yas, its a travesty in all versions
however my initial hate for long beach has turned to a begrudging respect and sometimes i even have fun on the circuit
i think its the accuracy of the track and how the fluid 60fps combined with the 1,080p allows you to see deep into the corners… there’s a sense of achievement getting a high performance rwd car into 1st place over 3 laps… the track is also remarkably glitch fee
i had the same feeling with forza 4 and catalyuna howeve that too had tracks that only a mother could love (eg. hockenheimring)
a game that can do that turn around an inital dislike is one that is remarkable but of course, i know many people dont have my particular love affair with accurate drive models and good track scanning
I’ve heard many people say they dislike Long Beach but it’s actually been one of my favs from the get go. There’s a good combination of turns and straightaway that I enjoy and the final turn takes concentration to hit it right every time. Yas Marina I enjoy as well, it’s a fun track IMO. The only issue I have with Yas are the many corner cutting cheating fools that have ruined the online experience there.
The level of detail that has been put into the tracks is definitely impressive and I’m looking forward to see what T10 has in store for FM6.
Track choice is possibly one of T10s toughest decisions. They want famous, well known tracks to attract buyers - I totally get that. But modern F1 circuits and some street tracks don’t play well and although it looks fantastic Yas makes for poor racing. On the modern tracks there is far too much room off circuit to allow cheating. Even Sebring and Atlanta have a couple of corners that allow cheaters to gain an advantage and it would be good to see these improved. The tight walled circuits often result in half the field being wiped out by an idiot. As for Top Gear - why?
There are more than enough terrific tracks around the world that would suit the game, reduce cheating and let the idiots have their own dramas without involving half a dozen other players. My perfect track list would feature tracks many don’t know and that would probably be a marketing nightmare. Have to agree with the OP though. What T10 have proved with FM5 is that they’ve mastered the art of replicating a circuit whether it’s one you like or not.
Top Gear is one of those franchise things… they must have paid $XX,XXX whatever to the BBC and its one of those things that people expect and people want to compare their lap times to the show
i get that, just dont make me race on it because it sucks
Turn 10 arent stupid, I think they read the backlash and they know which tracks we want and which one we dont. Will we see a return of hockenheimring?
I think they know that we generally like their signature fantasy tracks like Sedona, Maple Valley, Sunset Peninsula and even New York. I’m betting these all come back.
But yeah, I’m not certain bringing all these F1 tracks is going to help because most just suck although maybe with Texas and New Jersey they may be motivated there.
I agree - I don’t ever use this track but it’s cool to have to compare cars like they do on Top Gear. But I hate races and the bowling pin thing and knocking down cardboard London landmarks. Keep this stuff in a separate section of career is my advice.
I hope so. I like that track!
I don’t like Sedona. I do like Maple valley but would gladly see this one replaced with a real like track. (I’m thinking Limerock park in CT in the fall? Limerock is a short track though but has the elevation changes and could have fall tree colors to match Maple Valley. I definitely want Sunset replaced w Daytona - but if that can’t happen, bring back Sunset for sure. I’d be shocked if NY came back but you never know I guess.
. I’ll take any and all F1 tracks. Especially Texas since TUSC also runs there and other great races. I only hate Yas because of the corner cutting. I don’t thik it’s terrible otherwise.
