Every time I try to do a race in off-road buggies class A or B the AI mavericks completely dominate me and all other AI.
I play on expert difficulty. Why is it that despite any and all tuning I do the mavericks still generally over-power me toward the end of the race? (it’s not damage, I play with damage off for cross country)
Is it an AI bug?, because of the maverick’s one gear engine? Iv’e used the maverick before and I understand its strengths, but it shouldn’t be that amazing in the hands of the AI.
I don’t want it to be boring and have to use the Maverick every time I want to race in off-road buggies.
Is this a know thing? and if so, why is it like this?
You can make a blueprint and manually pick every buggy except the Can-Am.
Yeah real useful when it’s a PG-picked championship mate
The OP’s complaint of “I don’t want it to be boring and have to use the Maverick every time I want to race in off-road buggies” would seem to indicate that this isn’t particularly about a temporary championship, but rather general usage.

I honestly did not notice anything, winning against the AI on expert is almost always a breeze. Do you switch gears manually? Otherwise you can always ram the AI :).

Yeah, buggy events have been impossible since the Maverick was introduced. It has incredible acceleration, so it just flies off to 1st place and good luck catching it in you’re not taking the course perfectly.
Try either racing in buggies with a PI<650, tuning the Chola/Alumni Craft/Exomotive to the top of A with a focus on speed, or roll up in a fetal position and cry every time there’s a buggy championship.

All I know is you HAVE to keep the front 3 close in buggy(or any CC event) to make sure the draw distance is sufficient so the leaders actually are rendered hitting barriers/environmental hazards. Do whatever it takes to keep them in check corner bombing the first few turns or they will sail off just ghosting through stone walls and water with no resistance as if they aren’t there.

Yep and that’s why I’m not the biggest fan of CC.
It could be so much fun, racing large trophy trucks or speedster buggies, plowing though the British countryside, but the way the AI is just not affected by terrain unless their on screen, really makes it hard to go back to CC events.
Makes every race feel like a struggle, especially when your in the lead, and you’ll notice real quick that your taking speed drops from hitting the stone walls and jumps that you have to go though, and the AI’s behind you aren’t being affected at all.
The difference (and why I made the post) is that usually in all the other normal CC types (off-road, SUH, extreme off-road), I can still win pretty handily.
But B-A off-road buggies? because of those Mavericks, races can become near impossible. Both in Exhibitions and (dear god) championships that focus on them.
The Can-Am Maverick indeed is currently broken as an AI car. I tried it myself with the best tune I could find and still couldn’t catch up to the AI ones.
It is not only the CAN-AM that’s bugged/overpowered, i had an accidental issue with a blueprint i created, i simply could not win against the AI - strange, so i set about figuring out what is going on, in my case it’s a simple fast sprint race, only a few soft corners, rest is pure speed. all ~8km of it.
When i used a x999 car, the AI would favour the Audi TTS 936, and the Ford Focus 927, for some reason, now my problem turnesd out to be difficulty, see at Expert, the Audi would top out at ~408km/h and the Focus at ~410-412 km/h, increase the difficulty to unbeatable, at both cars would top out at 428 km/h. Quite impressive, considering that both the Audi and Ford at that rating, would top out for us players at 380, maybe 390 on a good day.
To test, i set my sprint race to be player in a x999 Aston Martin Vulcan Forza Edition, vs the 936 Audi and the 927 Ford, and so far in 30+ races, on ‘unbeatable’ the score is AI 30+, me 0, i even sent this to supprt as a challenge, ‘go on, beat this race - prove me wrong’ and the reply was ‘i accept your challenge!’ this was 21 days ago, no one has heard from him since…
So yeah, imo its not so much the cars thats the issue, but the cheating AI

My Class A/B Desert Dingo VW Bug competes with the CanAm Mavericks. Took a lot of tuning…then some luck and a bit of dirty racing during the single-player championships, but I came out on top in the end.
