I love forza games. I truly do. I was always a GT fan but that changed with forza motorsport 2. But I think I would like to see a bit of a gap until forza horizon 3 or forza 7 shows up. I want to see more of a leap in terms of car physics, car features (all wheel steering. only on cars that feature it though. , weather, possibly dynamic lighting amongst other things) and I would like them to take the time out to really work on that stuff.
Besides. I still play FH2 all the time. I could get by on that game with two more storm island, like expantions. Forza 6 is damn near perfect, now that I have found my perfect steering and throttle/break dead zones. Just give us more tracks and cars for the next year. bring back the faves from the old forza games and maybe some new ones. and maybe some more online game types, like multi class racing, and cat and mouse.how about body kit DLC? more cars, like an ESSEN tuners pack or a collection of cars featured at SEMA. stuff that can be added to extend the life of these two wonderful racers. I played NFS recently on EA access and to be honest, I realised all, I really want is more stuff for FM6 and FH2. Don’t need any other racing game. Hopefully the fellas at T10 and playground see this post and consider it as an option. Two more map expantions for horizon 2 plus a few new cars. And more tracks and car DLC for FM6. I would be happy with that, going into fall 2017/18.Then, eventually when FH3 and FM7 come, they will both benefit from longer development cycles. I think its better than yearly forza games. these games are so robust and deep that we don’t need sequels THAT often. I make all my best tune ups after a year of playing any version of forza and I still have so many cars left to work on. lap times to crack in rivals. I don’t like suddenly having to jump to a whole new forza every year. make the dev cycles longer, so more time can be spent adding and refining the package in a substancial way over its predecessor. the PS3 only saw two full GT games. Forza could do the same thing and have a long tail of after support in the form of DLC. and ditch the tokens thing.
If you’re worried you’re paying for an underdeveloped game you can always just wait another two years until the series has advanced more. Balls in your court.
I did that; when Forza Motorsport 5 came out I bought a PlayStation 3 and Gran Turismo 6 instead. Enjoyed it for 18 months before getting an Xbox this August.
Horizon 2 was a great game, I wouldn’t mind playing another one in late 2016.
I disagree. I hope they keep making the Horizon series every year or every other year. The locations change, the music gets updated and it’s just a whole different experience. I could stand a break from the regular series though. The tracks don’t really change and they can just update cars via DLC and if they want to add tracks do it also by DLC. Doubt the graphics will get any better from 6 to the next game… They’re already pretty damn great.
Your easiest option is just skip a few years…Simple…
Sure they could add stuff, dlc etc but with every new release of forza series they are bringing in new users which is what they need for the longevity of the series.
But they will never skip a year from the forza series. Its a cash cow for turn ten.Employees need to be paid etc…Reality.
If you take a look at the release dates of all the Forza games, then nothing has changed since the first game. A new game was released every two years.
However since 2012 there’s an additional spin-off (Horizon) which follows the same principle and that means there’s a new Forza game every year now.
Bear in mind - Horizon and Horizon 2 aren’t Turn 10 exclusives…they were created by Playground Games and Sumo Digital in collaboration with Turn 10. So, technically, Turn 10 has released a Forza title every 2 years.
That’s what I wanted to say in the first place. To me (and how this thread proves to some others too) it seems that the time between each new Forza game has been reduced. But as we determined that has nothing to do with Turn 10. It happens just because there’s another developer publishing Forza games now, so that the interval between the games is cut in half (only for people who like both Motorsport and Horizon).
I started playing Forza 4 when it was released and played it regularly until Forza 6 came out. It’s nice that there’s a new game every year but I wouldn’t mind if there would be no new Forza in 2016.
I still play Forza 5 and 6 on a daily basis as I played 6 so much since release that I’m 70% done on achievements whilst 5 is miles behind so am building that up, Horizon 2 is a masterpiece and my favourite game, the location, the cars, the music(surprisingly as I’m into metal) but I know Horizon 3 will blow it out of the water just as Forza 7 will push 6 aside in a few years despite 6 being pretty damn good, in my opinion £100 on Forza a year is worthwhile, I’d probably pay ,ore if they upped the price because it consumes most of my rest time.
There IS a gap - a 2 year gap. It’s a good strategy as it makes for one year Motorsport, the next year Horizon. More or less, you are playing a new Forza game every year.
It doesn’t matter if they extend the life cycle to 3 years - they will only make additions and changes according to what’s decided by their business plan. So extending the cycle will not necessarily improve the game, though it might give them more time for bug-testing, which is again not a part of the business plan. Why do you think we get a dose every 2 years? If they try to improve everything all in ONE game, it would be a mess. And, it does not make good business sense.
They have to continue to be a profitable business in order to bring us these games, which I might add are the finest of the finest on a console.
Current cadence is good. I play a Motorsport game and look forward to the next Horizon incorporating some of the new things and then vice versa.
Some people skip the Horizons and some have skipped the Motorsports (particularly 5).
By the time Horizon 3 rolls around next year I’ll be eager for it, just like I was eager for FM6.
I have issues with both series but ultimately I like the rate of refresh and don’t believe they necessarily need more development time between releases.
I can’t wait for it either, and I’d still buy it even if it essentially was FH2 with an entirely new map. As for FM7, they will have to pull something out of the hat for that one, or they can keep it.
I really will as well! lol. Of course Ill buy a new forza if it comes out next year, but I would like T10 and PG to consider building on FH2 and FM6. I know its not going to happen, but I think they should consider it at some point, even with future editions of forza. Anyways…I’m gonna go back to tuning up my Ferrari F12 B
Oh absolutely - I think they’re starting to skew the game too much towards ‘casual and fun’. I really want to see proper physics in Horizon with consequences of bad/careless driving. The physics ought to have more depth and dynamism. And you don’t need a closed circuit for that!
I’ll probably skip Horizon 3. I’ve always enjoyed Motorsport more than Horizon and I still have plenty to do in FM3, FM4, FH2, and FM6.
By the time FM7 rolls around I’ll be ready for some new stuff
Honestly though, 2 years is a good schedule, especially for a game that is constantly pushing the bounds of the Xbox hardware. You can only do so much before you have to call it done and release it.
I love the forza series of games, i get what you mean, from 5 to horizon 2, to 6 there hasnt been a significant change, its just little improvements here and there, because horizon 3 will no doubt be like forza 6, it will borrow some of the new features and mechanics introduced into forza 6 (60fps maybe) we dont know yet, but for forza 7 they should definitely take their time and give us a more reworked and overhauled system of driving, which is unlike forza 5 and 6, which is a significant step up in terms of realism, also GT Sport is another approaching problem for T10. They can do it, we just have to hope they listen and be pateint really.
