Why Horizon 2 awesome and not so awesome

So I have put many a hour into the game, and have found myself in a love hate relationship. I love racing games, I have played them all, horizon is the best freerome available. Graphics are unreal, car selection unbeatable, tracks can’t be matched.

But, of course there is a but, I felt the game was lacking something. And for the first couple days, I just couldn’t put my finger on it. What its lacking, is racing. I know I know this guys a dumbass right, just bear with me.

Horizon 1 was increadable, it was what other games dreamed of being. The reason it was so good was because it was turn10’s first go at freerome, they started with an idea and made a game. With horizon 2 its obvious they had a game and tweaked it to the complaints of the original.

The freerome, in horizon 1 you couldn’t drive anywhere, most if the roads were lined with guard rails. Horizon 2 you “fixed” the constrictions by letting us drive anywhere. At first I loved be able to run through the trees, plow through the vineyards, and cut corners. But after the cool factor wore off, a tree is a tree, you hit one, you’ve hit them all. And continue to find myself upside down more than not. This can get very frustrating when you running out of time trying to get to your event. I found out the game was 3x bigger and was then let down by the fact most of the added space, is just trees and meddows. I don’t know the milage of road per game but I think 1 had more. I would of much rather see 2x the size, with more miles of what my car is meant to drive on. With it being so open and having to drive off road, it means all your cars have to be able to drive off road. My f-50 shouldn’t be able to do a cross country event, but the physics are such that it can easily be done. Guess what I am trying to say is I really like the closed freerome, the physics alliwed there to be more real experience of driving any car you want anywhere you want.

Because everything has to be able to go anywehere, car selection seems rather unimportant. What I mean is, it does matter what car you pick because they all feel the same when driving. The cars dont really have there own personality. Horizon 1 had this in spades.

What does this all mean. Horizon 2 lost the qualities horizon 1 had, the qualities we all fell in love with. The qualities being great cars, great physics, and sublime racing. In return for the sacrifice, we can now cut corners… smash trees… and destroy vineyards.

With all that being said. You guys have made a game that is very enjoyable to play.

P.S WHY NO MOTORCYCLES? lol
