Why haven't you joined a racing league(not that new multiplayer option)?

I go online and here people complaining about crashers…but that’s not the only reason to join a league. The best reason for joining a league is it is much more fun than random quick races. You also get to know some people that share the same hobby. Their are reasons for not joining of course, i am very busy at the moment but will in a few weeks. I recommend if you are a racing fan to give it a try.

It would be nice and easy for more people to get involved in private run leagues if t10 would actually carve space out for them in game. Other sports titles have allowed users to manage and update private leagues in game. It is something t10 should offer. in game management, recruitement, season setup, scoring and communication for private leagues.

  1. I don’t think I would be competitive. I win occasionally in the Enthusiast division, with a small field (of the 10 online wins I have, the largest field was nine.) Against people who race in the higher division, I would just be driving around in last place and I already have regular multiplayer for that.

  2. I have no real idea what racing etiquette is, other than don’t ram people and if someone is alongside you on at the end of a straight, don’t turn into them. Oh, and if you are being lapped, get the hell out of their way.

I hav’nt joined a “private” league yet, mainly due to time (and wife) restraints, so think it will be unfair to the other league racers if I dont give some form of commitment to league proceedings.

Also, very few leagues are “newcomer friendly”. Most leagues enforce no assist, use of clutch, a specific view, sim steering, damage on and even sometimes prescribe a tune that (with respect) feels more like skiiing in the Alps. I for one are fine with these limitations, but a lot of new racers can’t race that way so they just stay away, even though a lot of them also prefer clean racing like others do and would like to join.

Some leagues run at the time when I cannot join (midnight or working when they run), Some use cars I couldn’t care less about, and some have set of rules I don’t like. and on some leagues I miss the start and don’t really bother joining half way trough the season.

Timezoone problem

Iv found racing in leagues to be a lot cleaner and closer racing than normal hoppers which I dont bother with anymore.
Im in the elite league and find im racing against mostly clean players who have a simular skill levels so matchmaking is something I feel turn 10 have done really well.
In fact its the pretty much the only feature that has been added that I 100% like since FM4.
Lol I missread the OP but yeah I agree with that as well a arranged private league is always good we used to do them within and against other car clubs on FM4 unfortunatly since the loss of car clubs it seems harder to organise :frowning:

I have done over 350 organised competitive races in the past.

Right now I am happy with what regular Multiplayer offers (crashes notwithstanding), but if I feel I need to extend the life of the game I may race again. Leagues (when they work as intended) are a suitable replacement and don’t require as much organisation/testing.

My involvement in organized racing leagues started from racing against the same group of people in public hoppers. Over the years I’ve looked at what various sites and racing leagues had to offer (both good and bad). It’s really what inspired me to start my own forum and run my own racing series. I can understand the concerns about being competitive. In FM4 I typically held lap times in the top 1% in several classes on several tracks, yet I’d still end up in the back half of the pack in league races. Part of the reason I started my own site was to help people become more competitive.

Most of what I have in the works are series in A Class, with some higher and some lower. I’m even working on a C Class challenge series (using the BMW 2002). I feel that running a spec series is one of the best ways for drivers to test their ability against other drivers, though most are open to tuning when parts allow.

Also, the majority of the series we offer will be 5-10 races in length and, as of right now, we are only planning on running organized events 1-2 nights per week.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to check out what my site has to offer. If you like what you see, please sign up.

I’m perfectly happy running races by myself. I’ve never ran online in any game and don’t really have any desire to do so with FM6.

Until FM6’s “Leagues”, I only raced online with organized groups. I would much rather race with like minded drivers, and find random lobbies to generally be a waste of time. Groups like etcc.ridedomain.com, neinshiza.the-talk.net, worldmusclecarleague.com, & virtualvintage.forumotion.com provide hours of varied racing opportunities.

Some of my favorite times playing Forza has been with TORA, tons of fast people and it made me overall better at this game. I am too busy to get into leagues now a days though.

GT Season 12 last year was epic, even though I had to miss a few races. My car was the 458 with the F1 inspired livery.

Slightly off topic but does anyone remember the old Microsoft XSN service. This was on the original xbox (yeah I am an old gamer) but worked brilliantly with games like Rallisport Challenge and Links golf for organising competitions and keeping track of stats and scores. I know they sold it/shut it down but surely they could come up with something similar. That was well over ten years ago so there must be the tech around now with cloud servers etc to be able to run this stuff external to games and give users controll to create leagues and comps without having the resort to user created websites etc.

Deathtrapp, I remember it very well. I used to compete on Links Golf all the time. I miss those days sometimes.

I find them too ridged.
