In order to check how fast I am going, I have to either take my sight away from the road and into the corner of the screen or squint at the speedometer of the cars and even then I won’t get a good reading, because the speedometers are useless (Alfa Romeos, Aston Martins) or the measurements are in kilometers.
Also, why is it when I am racing, the game doesn’t keep track of the best laps, or the past laps. It only reads the last lap and it disappears. It only keeps track of the whole racing time.
I’m currently sitting 6 feet away from a 65" TV, and glancing at the corner of the screen requires far less eye movement than glancing at the dashboard of any real life car.
Well, I’m old enough to drive, but I can’t get a drivers license because my eyesight is not good enough to pass the eye test at the DMV.
I have a 39 in. TV and sit about 3 feet from the screen., and still have a hard time reading the menu while driving.
I complained about the Speedometer not being in the center of the screen starting in Forza 2.
If you used Bumper view it was there, but in Hood view it was in the lower right corner.
Then about 4 years ago, I took a 3 lap ride in a NASCAR Stock car at the 1.5 mile Oval in Orlando,.
I asked the Driver where was the Speedometer and he told me that they only use the Tachometer and the sound of the motor for when to shift.
Also, you do need the speedometer in an organized race if you are the car on the pole or are setting the pace of the start of the race.
I used to do OK in a NASCAR style race and I did not like to be on the pole to begin the race with a set speed of 60 or 90 mph.
Thanks Turn 10 for having a “Rolling” start for races now. That makes it hard to jump the start.
Are you having to stare intently at the corner of the screen and slowly read the number while your lips are moving? Or perhaps you keep the corner of your screen in a different room? Because otherwise it shouldn’t take a significant amount of time to flick your eyes over and back.
Not that knowing one’s speed is particularly important…
