Why does forsake limit the number of cars and number of designs you can have!?!

I have owned every car in the game for awhile now and I had to delete a bunch of cars to add both the porsche and nascar expansions. I’ve also had to delete many designs. I just don’t get why forza limits its customers? I just recently passed driver level 300 and got 10 million credits for a reward. Great right? Not really, I had to spend the entire thing on mods. What a waste. I enjoy purchasing and owning as many cars as possible and for example I could easily and happily own 10 Bugatti veyron’s or 10 Ferrari La Ferraris or 10 Lamborghini reventon’s etc. and I am always very impressed by the talent of so many forza users in terms of the designs they create and would like to have designs for most of my cars but can’t do any of those things. Please forza change your policy and allow unlimited designs and cars! It really frustrates a lot of us and takes away from what is otherwise a spectacular game. Please!!!’

It is because Microsoft limits the size of the save file going to the cloud (which ALL games must use), but requires that EVERYTHING is included in that file (in Forza prior to the XB1 the files for designs and replays were separate). Unfortunately T10 need to seriously improve their save coding (and they did for FM6), or remove things from the game (and people complain whenever that happens).

Did they improve it? Forza 5 had the exact same restrictions, my guess is they just don’t bother because it only affects a small minority. Hell, I never had more than 300 cars in any Forza game but recently they give you so much money and nothing to spend it on but cars. Because the mod system is a) clunky and b) mods void your lap times. I have a full garage, 40 million in the bank and spent over 100 million just on mods. But: It doesn’t need to be like that.

To save a single car in your savegame (without livery or tune) you need a maximum of 1 KB. I mean what is there to save? CarID (goes up to 1000), Mileage (up zo 999999), color (32000), number of races and similar things. Liveries are obviously a different story.

Yes they did - up from 500 or 550 cars and a slight bump for tunes and/or paints.
Part of the issue is the inefficiencies in T10’s coding - cars still track owners when we can’t auction or gift them - this is data and takes up room and the save limitation is to ensure EVERYONEs save is capable of hitting the same limits (wouldn’t want one person to have 700 cars because they have 100 paints while others are stuck at 100 cars because they are addicted to the paintshop).

perhaps give players an option to purchase an extended limit on num of cars/liveries/tunes they can have?
just like purchasing DLCs…

Aren’t they there to prevent data corruption?

Correct, cloud save storage space is the reason there’s a limit. There never was a limit on tunes/paints until XB1/FM5 since they were stored on the HD before and you could choose to upload them after that with a limit on how many you could upload. There’s always been a garage cap, though.

I know the team worked hard on attempting to make more room for FM6 and adding 200 extra to each is definitely an improvement but it’s still disappointing that there’s a limit.

Unfortunately, I’ve been told that it’s a server side issue and they can’t do anything about it other than attempt to minimize the files to fit more into the space they’re given.

???..buy more servers and/or lease space!

.

The could fix it very easy, just let us choose to save it on the HD and not in the cloud. Done

You obviously missed the bit about Microsoft requiring ALL saves to be saved in the cloud - and wouldn’t bet on them changing that any time soon, or possibly ever.

Why is this?

No idea - only MS could tell us but it could just be the direction things are moving.

And you are still missing the fact that T10 cannot change this - and MS are not likely to. The coding is simple, yes, but they have rules set by the service provider (Microsoft in this case) and must abide by them, and there is no real reason for Microsoft to change this situation - and if T10 cold get their save coding to be efficient (which it never has been) then this would be less of an issue.

And that’s why i was saying add the option to choose where to save it. Its just a PATH variable where it gets saved, no matter if its around the network or local.

They could alleviate this issue by doing something in the background. Each player could have a number of consecutive saves. For example two saves would give you twice the limit, but to you the user it would be visible as just one save. It would keep the saves to a size limit, but allow more space as a result. If the save sizes are limited due to server side technicalities, then just give us more saves but we only see it as one for ease of use. That may be a way around it. Also they could allow us to decide how our saves are split up. So a painter could reduce tuning space to zero and increase his design space as a result, or vice versa. I mean if you’re not using a specific part of the save it’s wasted as it allows a maximum on each section instead of a maximum total. Not sure why they did that, but it doesn’t make sense. Why limit the amount of paints or tunes, when you could just give us a total and how many designs or tunes are available. I mean the 10 replay limit is just plain stupid, when they could have more space for those needing replays for officiating or video making. Everything is artificially limited for no need when it could just allow you to save ANY type of file within your save total.

The powa of the cloud.

I agree that I’d like more space in my garage for more cars. However I don’t consider this a big issue. Currently I have one open space in my garage. I own all but the Hot Wheels DLC. I own all the cars that I’ve paid for. If I had some extra space I might buy the Hot Wheels DLC. I am not that interested in that DLC and since I don’t have the room for the cars I’m not going to buy it. I admit I could easy sell some cars I don’t drive to make room for other cars and if I wanted the cars I sold back I could easy afford them because credits are so easy to come by in the game.

This brings up the other issue about how easy credits are to get. I wish I had something else to spend them on other than mod packs. The only thing I can come up for all the extra credits is the unicorns cars. I’d make them stupid expensive like 500,000,000 credits. I think if I saved up all the credits I’ve earned so far I might be able to afford one of them. I’m somewhere around level 440. If you play the game long enough to earn 500 million credits I think you deserve something.
