Why do we have to "make a route" to the new stories every time I start the game now?

I know I’m asking a lot of the devs here to actually do something right for once, they still haven’t fixed the daily wheelspin issue that’s been persistent from day 1 but having to make a route to something I already did and will never do again because it was so stupidly boring is just ridiculous. I swear the devs are just making it a point to do anything they can to make players hate this game more and more, they sure aren’t trying to make it better, or if they are they are at a 100% fail rate so far. Like these 4 new races just to unlock 4 cars already unlocked but making it so you have to do 16 of the street races was so dumb. Just boring and monotonous is what this game has been, even the hot wheels was a joke.

There would have been a much bigger uproar from the community about this had we not been able to complete this considerable faster using 0 second eventlabs. But yes it’s a big waste of time and a common theme in this game. For example…

Queue for online racing. Select car. You must now wait for current race to finish. Waste of time… Championship over before you enter. You now have to wait for lobby to form again. Waste of time… Finally you get in and complete championship but want to leave but you have to first wait until the next lobby forms before you get the option to back out. Waste of time…

You go to do rivals. You select track/class/car/opponent. You decide you want to change car. You have to back all the way out, change car, then select track/class/car/opponent all over again.

You load up game and you’re displayed new races on map and forced to wait. Waste of time. You’re displayed new races on map again for no apparent reason. Waste of time.

You want to quit the game but you’re scared of losing progress so you enter garage then exit and wait for sync to complete. Waste of time.

You go to do the weekly chorelist and wonder whether you have the 2 car rewards but because there’s no indication you need to check your garage. Waste of time.

You’ve hit tune/liveries limit so now you have to painstakingly try determine what cars are using up most slots and manually delete one by one. Waste of time.

You go to auction a car. Someone buys it but you need to go through 1 billion screens to obtain credits. Waste of time.

I could go on and on… They need to employee someone who’s sole responsibility is improving the users experience and not wasting our time. Our time should be spent playing the game and having fun.

Totally agree with all you said. It’s either artificially increased “player engagement” for the metrics Powerpoint in the C-suite or incompetence. Don’t forget the fact that we still cannot skip cut scenes, that’s how you know it’s all intentional.

But between the new route bug and the HW home bug, my every start of FH5 is now this:

  • Click icon to launch game
  • Wait while several videos play
  • Press ENTER to “start game”
  • Wait
  • Press “Continue” to enter actual game load
  • Game launches into HW expansion (I’ve tried every house in Mexico and waiting in it etc. but nothing works)
  • Press ESCAPE twice to get to the HW road
  • Press ESCAPE to go to menu
  • Navigate to “Travel to Mexico”
  • Click to confirm that, yes, I want to travel to Mexico
  • Wait, wait, wait
  • Press Escape thinking you’d finally get onto Mexico road
  • But no, the game launches map animation for Horizons Origin story
  • No way to just escape out of it, I have to set a route
  • Finally I sit now in my car in Mexico

How in the world does MS give PGG a pass on this convoluted, growing display of incompetence?
There are no excuses for messing up these simple programming tasks!

I think they follow the MVP (minimal viable product) model way too much and never go back to enhance or improve things. I also feel they do no form of user experience testing.

Personally I would rather see them polish what they already have then continue adding certain rubbish content like Rami’s story. I would also like them to polish something for the purposes of reusing it in the future and not getting rid of it entirely.

Apologies for a noddy question but I presume you have re-set one of your Mexico houses as your home?

Yessir, have tried various houses and also tried waiting in them for prolonged periods of times. Also filed a support ticket, which is naturally immediately “solved”.

If only they were efficient at actually solving problems as they are at marking them as solved…

I’ve found you don’t actually have to set the route. Just hit the button to bring up accolades then back out. It then lets you leave the map screen.

I’m patiently waiting for Forza Motorsports (8)… they did closed playtest, inviting community members to help them test and gather feedback.

I’m hoping that the new community centric features they build in are great and can be brought over to FM6

If only I could like annonymous’ post with time-wasting examples more than once…

You realise that you have to press Y to set a home when you are inside that house?

Ugh, I’m a total moron! All I read was the “Welcome Home” and missed the button info (large screen, old eyes). Thank you Aqua and my apologies to PGG (though the other complaints naturally still stand).

Well it’s easily missed.

Some houses do not work as permanent starting points, like the one at the East coast or the one at the Maja ruins.
When I set those as my Home next time I am back in a Festival outpost.
Try Hotel Castillo, that home “stayed”.

This is what ruins this game for me.

Even the most simple things take so much time, there is micro loads for everything and it makes the game take forever to do anything. I hardly even do races in this game because from free-roam to race start I have to wait a whole minute which is a crazy amount of time for something so simple, and think of all the races people are doing regularly, I mean it is a racing GAME, people be racing every all the time and when you have to wait a minute every time you find the race you want to do it really makes you wonder why you are waiting at all when you could just be spending your time doing something else that you don’t have to wait for.

Like you said this all kinda just feels like a waste of time. Am I wasting my time right now by writing this long as* post on a board that might not even get seen or acknowledged by those it is directly relevant to? I don’t know. All I know is that I’m not patient enough to wait a minute every time I want to play this game.

Do you play with a recent configuration?
That’s the memory I have, on FH4 it was already the case, it’s even worse on FH5, when I was playing on an Xbox One S. I used to think twice before teleporting to the map, knowing how long it would take.

Now I play on a PC with a more modern configuration (GeForce RTX3070Ti graphics card, processor and motherboard of the same generation) as well as an Xbox Series S for travel; and it’s DAY and NIGHT.
The +40 sec loads turned into micro-loads of a few seconds. Starting the game is fast and so are the actions, changing cars or teleporting is done in a snap of the fingers.

The longest time is for the multiplayer events, where the synchronization seems slow, but it depends on the connections of each one, and those of the servers.

Considering these apes barely add anything to the game, its amazing how much unfinished and buggy manages to get added every time there is ‘update’.

I swear that nobody works in quality control or plays before release… simple things like map spawns shouldn’t still be an issue.
