Dadio, is it that hard of a task to bring back public user created hoppers? I dont remember reading anything about wreckers or crashers in fm4. It does fall in the hands of the developers because they implemented nothing to prevent this behavior. It is expected that when people go into a race lobby they are there to race… not sit around and wait for someone who is there to race to drive their range rover out in front of and wreck their race.
The only minor effort they have done is to stop people from picking up league points by ghosting those who sit in the lobby and walk away and collect points.
I am not saying that everyone needs to be good, and people cant enjoy the playground games but if Forza wants to call itself a motorsport title than it should promote motorsports not a bunch of fools bringing suv’s to a track to wreck those who are here to enjoy virtual motorsports.
Personally I never had any issues on pcars with wreckers, because guess what all lobbies are user created public lobbies with the host having the ability to kick those people, and usually damage being on so the wrecker gets one chance at wrecking and maybe takes out one person before their vehicle is damaged and unable to be repaired. I’ve also never had an issue with wreckers in iracing because they promote racing, I know weird concept! And guess what, they have user created lobbies as well for people who like to play their playground games also. They also have a system to keep those who arent there to race away from those who are in their rating system and safety system.
Until people branch out and try other titles they will never see how messed up this series truly is. Does it have some great features? Of course it does, but really this series is just a stepping stone to real racing titles.
Gran Turismo 6 is the same; I played it for 18 months and can count the number of deliberate crashers on one hand.
Forza’s base game is good but ever since the introduction of Forza Horizon it has been clear that the focus has shifted towards the casual gamer. That may bring in more sales and brand recognition but it does cause trouble for the people that used to buy the title year-in year-out.
Would resolve a tremendous % of the issues, imo, but as I’m told, would also water down the standard hoppers.
The honest racers would eventually migrate to user created lobbies and enjoy themselves, leaving the standard lobbies a severe mess of crashers, corner cutters, and ‘win-at-all-costers’ .Would not be a good look.
I think more than anything else, online races are kept short so that people who join a lobby after a race starts aren’t sitting there waiting for half an hour. I know there have been plenty of times when I’ve jumped into a league, seen that the race started and was on lap 1 of 4, and I’ve backed out to find another lobby. If races were 8-10 laps long, I don’t think I’d have the patience to sit there doing nothing until the race ended.
Yes now we hop around fast. But you can be sure if there would be higher lap races I would have more patience as well.
Right now turn 1 is a crash fest and many people leave in the first lap because with so few laps it’s pointless to continue after a severe crash. If races would be longer at least there would be a point to keep on racing.
^ and whats the problem with that? Thats exactly what is happening now except for the real racers go into private lobbies and races, leaving the people who are unaware of these private lobbies stuck to get smashed by those who dont care to race in the public hoppers. Atleast with cpl’s others can see them and know they are available. Right now for someone to find clean racing they need to either amass a group of clean racing friends to go to a private lobby, or search either here on the forums or other forums (shameless plug: www.pendulumtuning.proboards.com ) to find organized racing leagues, which still draws from the public hoppers except they are harder to find the cpl’s.
