9x out of 10 the avg driver will prefer the weather to be clear. In fact, we skip track days when the weather isn’t too great. I really don’t get the obsession with racing in storms 'n such. 75% of the races I’ll cycle through in free play are rain or some form of rain. Just… cut it down. Make 30% of them rain or something. Can’t spice up the races with actual Ai difficulty so you have to make the environment more difficult?
I disagree with this. The last game consisted of 3 lap races in the dry. Every race. Every single race. I like the variety.
There are always races in the dry on the hopper board. I’d say at most 2 of them have rain at any given time.
Tell me. How often do you say “It’s nice 'n rainy outside today, I think I’ll go for a spirited drive” IRL?
Here’s the thing that irritates me. I set my race to ‘clear’ in event setup thinking that this’ll stick. Nope. The next race is rain. Every time. Make these settings stick. I do not enjoy racing in rain 75% of the time.
I absolutely hate racing in the rain. I do not like racing at night. either. (Then again, I really don’t like driving 1:1 scale in the rain/snow either - lol). [edited for clarity]
rains boring but driving IRL in snow is the most fun thing especially if it was more a point to point race like on Pikes Peak
I like the variety that this game offers so that it doesn’t become a routine. I am disagree with you
About as often as any other time? My fun isn’t dependent on the weather or the vehicle I’m in.
But thats besides the point. You’re trying to destroy a strawman that doesn’t even exist. No one is trying to force you into inclement weather.
There is something to be said for having custom race set-ups that don’t reset between events, that sounds like a nice quality of life improvement everyone can get behind.
But I reject the notion that its overdone or being forced on us.
As mentioned above I think it would be a nice QOL feature that settings would roll over from race to race.
But if you are unaware, go ahead and hit next race (with the rain you don’t want), then you can change the weather once you’re at the track under event settings. Yea I know, it’s not what you want - see above; QOL feature.
Even in our current weekly mp hopper are there even any races in the rain? Maybe one? I know there’s some practice sessions that start in the rain and it slowly dries up. I honestly love the variable weather and it’s fair play for everyone.
I’ve had 3 races at yas marina and it’s been wet race every time ![]()

They clearly are by making 75% of the races pop as bad weather. I have to go back in and change it nearly every time. I get a 25% chance of non-wet weather. It’s getting old.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is annoyed by this… It’s like, the devs were high, and just mesmerized by how cool the rain looks. I mean yeah, we get it, it looks cool but in (ahem) “Career mode.” it’s like 95% chance every time you play certain tracks in a cup series, it will be in the rain ![]()
Thing is in reality any track that had some of the rain problems this game throws at you would not have any racing done even using rain tires, such has the Chicago street race this year.
To be clear. I’m not 100% against racing in the rain. I just don’t want to do it as much as these devs think we need to ( flip through the races and get a dry condition maybe 25 - 30% of the time ). I live in an area where it rains maybe 3 days every 2 weeks. What trips me up is how much it rains in Laguna Seca in this game. Laguna Seca literally means dry lake. It VERY rarely rains there IRL so this should be reflected in game.
hahahahah best topic ever. It is incredible the amount of bad weather race in this game. One time or another it is cool. BUT EVERY TIME NO! Please lets change that. 10-20% it is ok! more than that no!!!
Like. Setting the weather to variable shouldn’t instantly set it to rain. Why can’t variable just be clear to cloudy? Why does it have to rain so much? Jus gimme a ‘no rain plz’ button.
Yea, this for sure.
A realistic scenario would be a race in the morning that was foggy and slowly cleared up as the race went on.
Maybe a good suggestion would be the ability to set what the variables are, initial weather state that transitions to… whatever you set to. Seems like it would be an easy implementation.
I agree with the idea that “the AI is pretty bad, let’s hide it somehow”. For me, level 6-8 AI in the dry against myself in an actual leveled up car (another discussion entirely) has no chance. I will say this though, when it’s hurricane weather (who even races in that stuff anyways) they get all cautious and it’s even worse.
Night rain race…
I think you may be on to something! I remember seeing a rainy race at night in ACC but I don’t recall seeing rain in a night race in FM '23. Maybe I glossed over it or had such a bad time that I forgot about it. But now I want to run a race at night in the rain. I bet it’s going to be dreadful against the AI.
LOL
I’ve had a few night/rain, mostly Hakone but I’ve had Watkins Glen night/thunderstorm more than once as well.
Edit: Happening naturally that is, I know you can force it but why would you?..lol.
