Why are there still bright purple and green textures flashing on/off on the trees and foliage?

I’m on Series X on a 4K/HDR display, 2.1 capable, all green tick marks and all that. Only thing it doesn’t do is 4k at native 120hz.

Now, I noticed this issue when I first started playing the game about a year, maybe year and a half back: as I got closer to trees, bushes, foliage, etc. they would flash bright purple or green (depending on time of day) and once the textures on the foliage load properly, the flashing stops. If I back away for the LOD to lower again on the trees, the flashing pops up too.

When is this getting fixed? I hear it happens on certain TVs only but it shouldn’t be happenning at all I think. No other Forza game does this but FH5.

I’m playing the game on Performance mode, no motion blur. I’ve tried with motion blur on too, doesn’t seem to have much of an impact. When in Quality mode, interestingly, the flashing purple/green textures are reduced quite a lot.

Anyway, please optimise the texture loading engine or whatever, these morphing purple textures are extremely annoying and mostly noticeable in the evening and at night. Immersion breaking!

My TV panel is not native 10 bit but 8bit + FRC but that shouldn’t be an issue as ALL other games are running normally. The issue is your game, PG. Please look into it, thanks!

I’m pretty sure it has something to do with where it loads the frame of the object before adding the texture, and that’s precisely when it flashes bright purple or green.

I have the same problem, but it exists not only in Forza Horizon 5, but also in Forza Horizon 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Only these 3 games have this problem. I noticed that the problem is fixed by changing the screen aspect ratio to 4:3, 16:10, super zoom, etc.

i tried that too but don’t want to play the game with the objects stretched out or going off the corners of the screen. That’s hardly a fix. And yes, happens in FH4 and RDR1 too.

As for FH5, it has to do with the way detail spawns in on distant trees. That cuases weird flashes of purple and bright green, it’s very distracting during overcast and low exposure weather conditions, especially night.

This has to be looked into. It was horrendous last year, but not as noticeable, so they must have done something to tone it down. Choosing Quality gets rid of it almost completely but I play the game mostly on the Performance setting on XSX.

Usually vanishes after switching camera or entering photo mode for me. Still very strange.

I haven’t had this issue

I redownload the game after a year and the purple textures are still popping up on trees in the distance. Will this ever get fixed??
