Why are people bidding more than car value?

Yes, i found that highly amusing. I always check autoshow prices first.

Some cars are a lot cheaper in the auction.
You can bag a jolly decent bargain when it’s quiet… after midnight and before 8am for example.

This happens in real life too, at in-person auctions. People get fixated on winning the auction, and either don’t know the retail value of the item or just lose sight of it in the competitive excitement.

As a side note, can you call it ‘winning’ when you paid more for whatever it is than anyone else there was willing to do? Sort of like trading stocks: both the seller and the buyer are certain that they are getting the better of the other guy.

Essentially what it is hackers and cheats money and car laundering, they will have 2+ accounts one with the hacked game content and the other a legit one, so they buy and sell cars between the 2 to laundee the money and cars.

I’m over people saying everyone is a cheat and liar repeatedly.

Pista was rare in FH4, lots of others are rare, and if anything people want exclusives without chores.
Buy low and sell high is arbitrage. Simple. People have to do it to get money, and it makes it hard for others without.
19mm for a Wuling is nuts. But that’s what it costs. Like life. Supply and demand.

No one should be allowed to sell a car in auction house for more than it costs to buy from the Autoshow that way no one feels cheated.

You’re silly.

Back in the day, selling limited run or 1 of 1 liveries on cars = billions of credits for top tier creators.

My 1 of 1 jessica alba gave me a competitive advantage by swooning onlookers.

I don’t think I am the silly one here. ;p

I remember in Forza Motorsport 2, I had some cars like a special Motegi edition Lancia Delta and AWE Tuning Audi Kruz Missile with special paints and competitive tunes you couldn’t just download. Hundreds of millions of credits each haha. Now money is nearly useless.

It’s up to you. I got the most expensive cars cheap because I studied the auto show and found out what is exclusive etc, the prices and set my max buy out. If you feel cheated that’s part of it. There is a skill in maximising credits. In both this and FH4 I’ve had good experiences.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a place where people could go to get tips about how Forza Horizon works so they don’t end up trying to figure everything out for themselves or wasting their hard-earned credits and time unnecessarily? Maybe Forza could create some forums. You know - some place that people could easily find by using an Internet search engine.

In all seriousness. I really don’t know why people don’t check out the AutoShow before going to the Auction House. It seems so basic. It works just like in the real world. Before you buy a Jeep at an auction or a used car dealership, you check and see what it is going for new and if it is available. Of course, just like in real life, if someone builds the Jeep into an awesome beast (and the tune isn’t available for download), you might be willing to pay more.

In FH5 only paid more than “book value” for cars not available in the AutoShow that I failed to earn in Series 0 and 1.

Essentially every car has a value even the exclusive and not available in autoshow ones, you only have to check your own garage for that, what’s needed is a list of all the exclusive and not available in autoshow cars with all there values, then people would know if they are being ripped off by others in the Auction house, maybe as a community we could work together and compile this list on here to help others to make up their minds before buying from auction house.

Sounds all well and good but 95+% of players do not participate in any community of practice (official forums, Reddit pages, Forza Twitter, etc.) and would never see it. And most of those that due participate in a Forza CoP are already aware of how the auctions and auto store work. So it would be mostly preaching to the choir and doing a lot of work for nothing.

Seems little point in complaining about it then, just bear in mind the old adage “buyer beware” and also “a fool and their money is soon parted”, I always check the auto show to see the maximum I should pay for a car then go to the auction house with that in mind and by doing that have bagged myself many a bargain, having a special paint job is not something I would be prepared to pay extra for as it doesn’t actually add any in game credit value to a car, and if I want a paint job on a car then it can be obtain free just by downloading it in the paint menu of the garage anyway and to be honest I ain’t that fussed about them anyway.

In FH4 people would buy the barn find Mini you get for free for 20 million because it was the challenge car and they either didn’t look or didn’t care.

You’re all making a big deal out of buying a car for more than it costs in the autoshow, it doesn’t really matter. The list you are all talking about is the Autoshow.
