One of the cool things about finishing a race or a practice or any other session in previous versions is you could see if you had a decent clean lap and look at the leaderboard. You could compare your friends, your country and the world. And it would show the your car class by homologation and where you ranked. I’m not a fast driver so it was never one of those “I’m in the top 10” things. But it was kind of cool to see if I made the top 10% or something like that. Is there a reason the leaderboards were completely stripped out of the game.
They still exist in rivals where they rightfully belong.
I think you missed my point. I know they’re still in Rivals as that is a very specific hot lap competition. But they used to have General leaderboards for each homologation class and at the end of any race it would show your best lap and you could see your rank against friends, Country and world. They completely removed this for some reason. It’s completely independent from Rivals which is a very specific setup for competition. This was just a fun way to see how you did in a specific car against others.
It was all connected to rivals back then as well, always has been. They just got rid of the broken homologation feature from FM7 and used the basic PI limited system that’s been used in earlier Forza’s.
Now your replays of fastest laps will only be available for others to see in rivals mode along your position in the world, country, friends, etc.
You can still homologate your car using ballast to a certain PI limit.
Edit: Rivals Started in FH2, leaderboards are now rivals specific due to the amount of factors that could lead you to set a faster lap than someone else. They leveled the playing field now.
True, although the extra information in the leader board was key.
This is by design; Turn 10 said they didn’t want race times polluting the Rivals boards due to the extra variances surrounding slipstreaming, fuel, tyres etc.
I don’t agree but I can see their point of view.
Leaderboards are now your traditional Time Trial experience only.
FM4 definitely had Rivals. I know FM2 did not but it also had leaderboards EVERYWHERE. I can’t speak to what FM3 did or did not have.
You’re right. I had to recheck FM5 since my 360 isn’t hooked up and it’s staring me in the face. I also found videos of it being in FM4, but could only find “leaderboards” in FM3 that were everywhere just like you said in FM2.
While l I understand that mentality, for a guy that doesn’t do rivals, like me and many others, it was nice to see how your lap times were shaping up and now there’s absolutely no way to do this.
I can’t stand running repeated laps with ghosts it’s boring. I want to race, I don’t want to do time attack all day. There’s a reason IMSA, Formula 1, NASCAR, you name it, don’t have a time attack competition. But those organizations still keep track of fastest laps, in fact handout points for them in some situations. This is where I’m coming from.
Absolutely! I’m playing through FM7 right now and I’ve actually gone back and rerun a few races just because I skipped the window to look at my leaderboard placement.
I can’t stand running repeated laps with ghosts it’s boring.
I don’t find it boring. The big thing for me is passing through the ghost and not being thrown off by it.
i feel like the leaderboard should be everywhere and a toggle for race/time trial/race+time trial
I really believe bringing back the OVERALL leaderboards will bring back a lot of the worlds best players.
Once the leaderboards dissappeared so did they worlds best.
I know I don’t really care about setting killer times, because it’s for only a single track and class.
Overall proved who was the top dog through all classes and tracks. Some guys are amazing on one track and trash on others.
I was just very quick in all classes and tracks and that is what got me into the top 250 players in the world. I was 17th at one point when they wiped everyone who knowingly used some of the glitched cars. Oh and I never used a single leaderboard car (FM3 Audi’s) (FM1 Civic) I was top 150 in FM1. Who knows I could have went even higher. I like vairety though.
