According to the Forzathon daily, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 (note the name and it also has two glowing horses on front and back) is not a Mustang. The 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R (neither the word “Mustang” nor a horse icon appear on the car) is a Mustang.
No. What literally makes a Ford Mustang a Ford Mustang is Ford naming it a Mustang and ( / or… depending on how purist you want to be) badging it with the horse. Period.
Everything I wrote there is correct. I did not say whether I thought either car was or wasn’t a Mustang; it’s just amusing how it worked on the playlist.
The Electric Mustang is not a Mustang… it is an E-Mustang. As in, an extension of the Mustang line.
The Shelby GT was not a Mustang, it was an adaptation of the 1960’s Mustang designed by Carroll Shelby. It has major modifications apart from the Mustang.
The Cobra is another example, especially the 1980’s Version. Lots just like the Mustang of the same year, but different engine, transmission and suspension.
I guess we just have to accept what Forza decides is a Mustang - whether it is or not - they won’t change the decision.
The only problem comes from knowing what they’ve decided despite the names which can be confusing if you haven’t tried them out to see what they’ve decided.
Pretty sure the E in E-Mustang is for Electric, not Extension (and yes, it is a Mustang, some of y’all need to get over this whole hatE )
EDIT : and yes, as noted by SpirantCrayon22 it’s not “E-Mustang” but “Mach-E Mustang”
And speaking of the Cobras, I checked them too (well, the Shelbys, didn’t bother with the Fords) because I was curious (and seem to recall a “debate” about whether they were in fact Fords, in a previous series challenge). Neither one counted for this as Mustangs (and clearly they aren’t, nor are they Fords)… at least in the lore of PGG
I think I used the Ford Shelby GT350R (2016), S1, 900, AWD - Search Name - Ford Mustang '16.
Guess you just need to go by the search names to determine what Forza classes as a Mustang.
As in - Ford Shelby GT500 (2013), A, 756, RWD - Search Name - Ford Mustang '13
I don’t give a flying fig what the manufacturers say and do any more. The Mach-E (which reminds me, when the heck are we going to stop forcing “E” into the names of EVs,) was only called a Mustang for marketing purposes. Passion versus profit, and profit won, but it doesn’t make it right.
