wheel offsets

I don’t think I’ve seen this question posted up here before and I’m curious. Does anybody think or have any thoughts on the wheel offsets having any effect on a car’s handling. I was just picking out some rims and it got me wondering. If you think about it, where the center of the rim is in correlation to the rest of the rim could affect the way weight is being distributed to the tire which in turn could have an effect on camber settings. What we call a deep dish rim in these parts would put more weight on the inner tire. I know it does in RL because I had a '73 Charger that I had to replace the ball joints on after having put deep dish Cragar wheels on it.

Now, I cannot say for sure but I HIGHLY doubt (with additional emphasis on HIGHLY) that wheel offset is in the physics code.

Ive notice this since Forza 4. Cars with deeper off set rims are alittle more squirmish in the front end.

I doubt it’s in there. Wheel size? Yes, offset?? Probably not.
Easy way to find out I guess. Buy 1 identical cars. Put a control wheel on 1 and deep dish on the other with no other changes. Both wheels would have to weight the same and remain standard size for an accurate comparison with all other factors remaining stock. If it does have any effect you’ll be able to tell.

Suggest a FWD sirocco… Not the diesel type though…

There is no wheel offset anywhere in the coding, Basically every time you put wider rims the axle of the car get’s “shorter” and the tire get’s wider inwards. While realisticly the tire should come outwards just as much as inwards. assuming that the wheel offset does not change.

Basicly if you compare the wheels “HRE S101” which is a low negative offset wheel, and run trough “S104” to “S107” which is a high negative offset wheel you can actually see how the brakes go deeper under the car / come further out from under the car, while the tire stays exactly where it is. This makes me think that the offset doesn’t really matter in the game.

Realisticly how ever, you would like to see low negative, or even positive offset, which would bring the tires further out, making the “track width” wider, which would bring more balance to the car, which would make the car at least feel bit more grippy.

Think we’re all wanting more realism. I want more comprehensive tuning to play with, better damage modelling, and improved vehicle dynamic, but the real question is, can the Xbox one handle it??? I’m not convinced that we have the processing power to deal with the more complicated and realistic vehicle dynamics, I don’t think we have the power for the damage modelling either.

I didn’t think wheel offsets had anything to do in the game because I noticed exactly what you said about the the car.

+10000
Lower offset= wider track width=better handling.

I was talking to somebody from T-10 about 3 weeks before Forza6 came out and was told they are upping the modeling damage for Forza 7 which is being worked on now.

Like “the storefront/share front is making a return for 6” I’ll believe it when I see it, but let’s not turn this into a T10 bashing thread they’ve done a good job with this title.
