Look I know this game is a hot mess, and embarrassingly should not have been released in this barely playable state. So I’m sure a lot of you would like to say “stability” or “the ability to see the track” or other jabs at the developers. And honestly they totally deserve it, considering what they dumped upon us. But I’m looking for a responses of actual in-game features that they’ve removed that you miss the most from previous titles.
Believe it or not, the devs do get feedback from this site as put together by Max and some of the other people. So if we can list the things we miss the most that might help them get added back in, once they get this game in a playable state. I know they have a laundry list of bugs and glitches to fix. And there’s already been some announcement of features that will be back. But let’s voice our opinions as well.
For me, it’s a no-brainer, I’m severely missing the TRACK DAY MEET UP. It was the thing that would bring me back to Forza Motorsport 7 even after it had been out for 5 years. Just to hop into a car, go to a track and race around with other people; checking out the cars they were driving and their lap times. Occasionally switching to one of the cars they were in, setting the PI equal and seeing if I could match their lap time. If they would add this back in it would be a significant boost to the player base, as there are a lot of people on other forums that have also been posting about how they significantly miss this features as well.

Also it seems like rivals no longer take times from online races, but not 100% sure. I checked it once, but it could’ve glitched or may take awhile to show up.
Part of the reason I suspect most hold Motorsport 4 in such high regard -and this is certainly the case for myself- is that player were allowed to have so much freedom to how they made progress, which cars to race, how to mod and tune them, painting was excellent, etc.
Motorsport 6 felt as close to that as the modern titles have gotten.
But 7 with the unwelcome homologation system removed so much of that simple joy and replaced it with this faux-seriousness that has continued and increased with the introduction of ChorePoints.
The game doesn’t feel joyful, or exciting anymore. It feels cold, lifeless, sterile, and filled needless grind that has made me stop playing entirely.
Games are supposed to be an escape from the dullness and drudgerey of our daily routines. Not there to introduce even more work.
Rivals is exclusive now. And the only way to get any time on a leaderboard. Previously you could do single player races in freeplay and your times would still get put up on a world and country-based leaderboard.
Removing that has been a big downer for so many people. It was always fun to see where your lap time came in on that last race. Now you have to go into rivals and drive by yourself to do it, which is absurd.
To be honest, I have to say I miss the community aspect of older Forzas more, ones where people weren’t so up in arms with everything. I miss being able to have people talk about tunes, ones where we didn’t have to actually go through a storefront (even if the current one is a free variant of this, where the creator gets less). I miss the sense of camaraderie. I miss having a different playthrough than everyone else. That is the biggest donwfall of the way things are now… you have a finite amount of choices.
It’s a shame they will be neck deep fixing stability issues and bugs because it’s minor improvements like this that would make a world of difference. I hope they squeeze this in soon as it seems fairly simple and personally I would like to be able to favourite my cars just like in FH5. Both of these features become crucial as we grind out more and more cars.
I don’t remember seeing it in Motorsport but in FH4 (I haven’t checked in FH5), when you made a custom race, you could select which cars you want eligible individually. It helped narrow down some of the awkwardly organized categories or make some interesting grids that you can’t do with just the filters.
By FAR the ability to choose the AI opponent’s cars! The amount of freedom this opened up made for endless fun! You even used to be able to race against cars in your own garage!
Single player is a soulless husk of an experience, with the only progress being completing 20 odd races for a car I’m not that bothered about. Otherwise it’s just credits for finishing races to buy cars to enter other series, until there’s none left.
Multiplayer, outside of being a complete mess for penalties and balancing both cars and lobby rankings, has nothing to offer again. It’s single player, without the eventual car reward, just credits. No ranked cup/leagues, no stats, no flair for your profile, nothing.
When you factor out the non-working rating system(s), it’s just pointless racing that doesn’t even add to a tally. No reason to qualify well, because you’ll get demolished in 90% of first turn incidents. Once you hit S4900+, there’s essentially nothing left to progress. Incremental increases to an ambiguous rating figure is not engaging if it’s doing nothing to filter lobbies, nor being used to create leagues/splits.
Rivals is literally the only thing in the game that offers any sense of progress and you’re just playing by yourself there, but at the very least there is evidence of you developing and a place to see it.
I genuinely, genuinely cannot fathom what it is players are supposed to be invested in. Maybe all of the player investment stuff comes in later updates but right now this feels like two demo modes and time trial. How the hell is there not even stats of any kind? Who made this game?
